I bought the blanket-lined drop tail Detroit jacket and for me, the blanket lining makes it too warm for spring or fall, but the jacket is too short and not good in windy or cold weather, making it kind of useless. This jacket, which seems like it's basically the previous generation Detroit jacket, is just right. I just looked on the site and it's now called the Re-Engineered Rugged Flex Detroit Jacket and they've added corduroy to the collar and what looks like a very lightweight lining

Just out of curiosity: how water repellent is the duck. For a spring / fall jacket that might be important.
Could it be more waterproofed by using wax or oil? Or is the duck not woven tight enough?

Thanks for the question. It’s not water repellent more than just a light sprinkle. I’ve had it on during a light rain for a few minutes and it didn’t seem to absorb water but probably would if I had been out in it for much longer. I think it would take wax or a scotch guard type repellent very well.

I bought and returned it. It's basically a narrow shoulders, twill, shirt with a zipper. Worse fit than the European WIP line. Also no cordory collar which is a signature feature of the detroit jacket. Shameful they can't just give us the 1990's version.

I like it but I am beginning to believe it is just a totally different Detroit. This has more of an unlined Trucker’s jacket feel to it. I might try to pick up the older version before they go away. I’ve been trying to pick one up for years but it’s either not available in my size or priced unreasonably high. Thanks for checking out the video!
