This happened to my Mafex RoboCop. His arm popped off and I could never get it back on. But at least I had him a year with minimal play.

The good thing about Legends is that they are made to be played with roughly by kids. I hate that adult collector figure usually means flimsy joints.

I am in a FB group, where many people received their scarlet spiders and had a very tight thigh swivel. One of the guys even broke it. I had the tightness too and so I put some shock oil on it, its working properly now but man I have left him in just a neutral standing pose facing off to the side.

yeah the ball inside the left leg’s thigh swivel on mine is super tight. attempted to move it a few times but it’d need a lot more force and i do not want to risk breaking it
@@dreamybulllxxx get silicone shock oil. I actually never used it but man it works like a charm. I had used dishwash first but it can be harmful due to the chemicals in the future so got the silicone shock oil

Will wait for Hasbro's announcement and if the new one is good with all the stuff will probably sell the mafex one😅However before this I got the regeneration suit superman from Ebay and my copy has no issues the joints are buttery smooth😅.

I didn't think anyone else had the same problem. I bought 185 and 186 around the same time and when I took Scarlet Spidey out of the box, he was way tighter than my other that I had to use dish soap overnight until I got my silicone oil the next day. 185 Regular spidey came out perfect out the box, joints easy to swap out too, didn't even need to heat up for the shoulder swap but had a paint chip on the shoulder 😅
Edit: still having trouble with the wrist peg tightness on the scarlet spidey one, so becareful with that too 😅

Sorry to see that Dave, this figure looks really nice. Sorry if I missed it in your video, did you try asking the store you bought it from if Mafex does replacements for them? Some times these companies don't do replacements for individuals, but they'll replace broken figures for stores/distributors.
Hopefully you can fix this pretty easy. Get a really tiny drill bit and a piece of copper wire (or whatever you want to use), drill a hole in the connections, dab of glue, and connect them. Make sure you don't get glue in the joint to lock up the knee though.
I've had to do this with a couple of the bootleg figure I've bought from aliexpress and it's generally not a super difficult repair.

Same exact thing happened to me same place and even the same leg where it broke! I ended up just super gluing it because, even though you'll lose most pf the range, because the leg is double jointed you can still at least still move it a bit. It will never be the same but at least he won't be a one legged Scarlet Spider!
Oh and also, now you will have 4 pennies!

That really sucks that it was defective. I haven't dived into the Mafex hole...yet, But I have had couple issues with Mythic Legions figures. Just missing accessories, but Four Horsemen were willing to send them to me at no cost. I've also had an issue with Storm Collectibles Golden Axe 3 Dead frame Skeletons, The post that goes into the shoulder joint snapped, Even after heating up the joints they snapped on the other one. I couldn't figure out how to contact Storm Collectibles, Luckily I bought them from BBTS and they just refunded me without any fuss.

There are fixes but not easy ones
NECA is great with customer service! They helped me like twice. At the start of 2022 I had my MAFEX Psylocke left arm fall apart right out of the box with one movement but I waited over 10 days (used the HLJ site) to open it and they sold out (one advantage with BBTS- more time) so it made me not want to build the Jim Lee team and just cherry pick characters besides Spider-Men/Deadpool. I recently did something dumb and ordered the SHF Miles from a different site but their policy was I had to fill out a Bandai form and it's taking forever but going by last weeks email, they're sending me new parts.
Customer service should be the highest priority
@@DisplayingModelBehaviour Yup. That's why I get anxious ordering from import sites and saving 10/15 dollars vs paying what it cost on stores with guaranteed great customer service. Dude, during lockdown BTTS sent me a free Mezco Batman replacement and a free MAFEX Peter B replacement. I had a floppy loose joint with SHF Toby, take a pic (video in this case) show them- easy exchange.
Aww man Dave. I'm sorry about your luck man, that sucks! We've all been there, had a favorite thing ever, looked forward to it, and bam! huge heartbreaking moment of disappointment. I feel for you good brother. Chin up my man better days are coming.

I had the same problem but fixed it by piercing the leg with a small hook and thus connecting the broken joints together.

Mine happened exactly the same, but it was the left knee. Fortunately AmiAmi replaced for me. I suggest the use of some Shock Oil. It’s a good figure, don’t give it up just yet.

Man that sucks. Sorry about your break Dave😥I have this figure and I must say its great! Granted I didn't have any breaks or other QC issue so I can only speak from my experience. But its easily the BEST Scarlett Spider ever and is one of my top figures of the year. I know u are a HUGE Ben Riley fan as am I and this has gotta sting quite a bit especially after having to wait so long for it. Hopefully you will get another chance to pick this guy up or get it fixed I hope you have a better experience and get to enjoy it as much as I do.

It sucks this happened. You have my sympathy for sure. I had a McFarlane figure's wrist snap right out of the box and some other weird stuff (a Juggernaut with two left hands?? BBTS has really good customer service tho').

My Thor's neck joint broke off as I tried to change the heads for the first time. Far from my first mafex, but the first to break. Joints and ridiculously tiny

Wow, that is some terrible customer service on Mafex part! Sorry to hear Dave. As to the artist, the angular-eyed look was based on the artist who came up with the Scarlet Spider's look artist Tom Lyle's design. The other two were Mark Bagley's designs. The more open-eyed one is his 90'a look and the other one (I believe the one you said was your favorite) is the redesign he did in the more recent (and woefully bad) Scarlet Spider series.
Gotta love the Bagley designs!
Hey Dave!!! I know this hurts, especially being your fave!! But I actually ran into this months ago with Mafex Nightwing, the arm was falling off and I contacted bbts and they said they got a bunch of complaints about that. Also the Wolverine. But thank goodness they sent me a brand new one!!

I think marvel legends, even though they are at an obvious lower price point and quality compared, but they get some things right with proportions that mafex tends to miss. I think marvel legends does have the best proportion:physique for Wolverine then any other high end company. But yeah, bless mafex and quality control lol
Dave, before you start squirting out the glue, it might be worth dropping Other Dave at Toypolloi a line with some images of the break - He might be able to make some suggestions. I don't think I've seen a video of him repairing a Mafex, but the guy really knows his onions as a Top-notch toy-Doctor! ;)

You could buy another one at the same store, keep the receipt then return the broken one and list the sealed one for sale online. You'll at least get some $$ back.
great figure, shame this is an issue. as a gundam builder i’ve had similar happen, if you’re willing there’s some tutorials online for repairing broken pegs, but TLDR you’d drill a hole in the thigh and then knee and take a short metal rod (i used a paper clip and superglue) to connect the two where the peg joint would’ve been. should be able to keep all ROM. the tutorial i followed was by Hobby Clubhouse, so hopefully this helps someone out there

I noticed mine did some noise in that area when I moved the leg, I put some silicone shock oil and it seems ok so far

this happened to me too! also be very carful when messing with the hoodie, It can rip easily. I ended up getting another one. So far so good but fingers crossed!

I would ask Collector Express or one of the other customizers about how to fix it. Probably a small piece of styrene rod cut to size and carefully glued into place would do the trick.

Sucks that yours broke. I'm super concerned about mine because his head is on way too tight, and his wrists can't be rotated. It's a shame because if I got the tolerances Medicom intended, he'd be up there for figures of the year. But now? Kinda just hangs out in the back of my Spidey shelf.
get some silicone shock oil and use just a drop for every area/joint, that works wonders

That sucks. Same thing happened with my mafex scarlet spider, except it was the left leg and the upper knee instead of lower knee like yours. It broke almost right out of the box. Didn't even get the chance to really pose it. I was really disappointed, as it was one of the figures i was most looking forward to this year. As a 90s kid, I'm a big fan of the scarlet spider. I think the design is so simple yet so cool. Honestly sometimes i prefer it over the classic spidey suit. Not a big fan of the ben reilly spectacular suit though. Fortunately bbts said they would replace it once they receive the broken one. Like many have already mentioned, i do wish the spider emblem was bigger and more centered like in the og comics. This one seems more inspired by the recent appearances of scarlet spider in the comics.

It's because you're in Japan and you say "may-fex" instead of the Japanese pronunciation, "Mah-fex" -- the figs have had enough lol it's like people who say "leh-vees" instead of "lee-vys" other than that, great review! The fig looks amazing, my only neg is the spider graphic on the hoodie is too small, especially compared to the comic image you showed

Mafex are some of the most beautiful figures I’ve ever seen in y life, but goddamn I’m so scared to play with them. My Hush Superman actually came with a broken elbow joint and every time I move the legs of my Mafex batman I’m terrified of breaking them. So yeah, I love Mafex and I’ll keep collecting but it’s a very complicated line for me.

I’m lucky that Amazing Yamaguchi helped me get a replacement part when my Cable broke. They suggested I use a proxy Japanese address since they apparently can’t provide replacement parts to non-Japanese based customers which is weird.
But yeah Japan are very strict when it comes to rules.

Size comparison definitely made me laugh. For me the hoodie is a sticking point - why the smaller symbol when you don’t have to worry about a plastic chest joint breaking the design? Why shiny fabric?

Man I was just about to buy this and now idk if I should but the one reason I wanted this over the Legends one is the fact you can put the hood up on him and you can’t do that on legends. Not to mention this one is all around a better looking figure.

Sorry Dave! I received my Mafex Scarlet Spider about 3 weeks ago and was ready to brag about it, but now... I left him in his packaging because he was quite expensive, and that's where he's gonna stay forever i guess. I'm almost as disappointed as you are, hopefully the folks at Hasbro can hook you up with a new one!

The main head sculpt you use looks (based off memory) like mark bagleys design for his mask! Shame about the leg. Mafex has GOT to do more than a “I’m happy for you…or sorry…whichever works”

This figure's joints were so tight in mine when i got him out of the box. Luckily i had lube for my rubiks cubes. I used it on the joints and problem solved. Smooth now.

So unfortunate, sorry mate! I'd consider parting him out - the upshot to lack of mafex customer service is there's people out there looking to replace a specific joint or limb, missing or bad qc on an accessory, want an extra hoody to repaint the logo, etc.
I think I’ll glue the leg and give him a gift.
I'm with you in your pain Dave and torn with MAFEX too. Great figures and all but sometimes they are a big disappointment. In my case Harley Quinn. The hands keep falling off...and joints are loose. Like very, very loose...
Same with my Huntress. Her right hand just won’t stay on!

@@DisplayingModelBehaviour it really is unfortunate. That was my first Mafex figure, and until the qc issues slow down significantly at least, it's soured me on the entire line. Imported figures cost way too much to justify the possibility of losing them so easily at no fault of my own.
sorry dude. the cape on my dark knight batman mafex would not stay in place. i contacted bbts and they were able to replace my figure with another .

I feel sorry for you man. That is really heart breaking. That is the 8 in a 100 chance rule of quality issue for the new mafex releases. You can find and learn a lot of fix for that on the net, it is what it is, so why not treat it as an opportunity to learn a new skill? Cheers!

You had some bad luck with the qc or you were too rough out the box. Everyone knows you have to start gentle out the box. You don’t know how much heat the box was exposed to prior to delivery. Doesn’t mean it’s the worst figure. This is actually my favorite figure. Best one yet as far as Spider-Man goes. My opinion of course.
