  • @john-ic5pz
    @john-ic5pz Před rokem +6

    Tldr, karma (kamma) is a Sanskrit (Pāli) word that simply means "action" i.e., all action (inaction is also an action) have desirable &/or undesirable consequence, not rewards & punishments.
    Just as the bed-leg doesn't kick back at your toe because it is angry for having been kicked, nor God punishing you for a trespass nor the devil harassing you; it is effect following cause.
    For the physics minded, Action → equal & opposite Reaction.
    🙏

  • @MrCw64
    @MrCw64 Před rokem +4

    The thing that gets overlooked by the western conditioned mind, is that the effect of karma is binding in either case. So long as actions are performed for the sake of the outcome, then the outcome good or bad has to be endured. Even with good karma the miseries of material life still remain. The topmost one being that at some point, the life has to end. It all has to be lost. It is desire that binds the soul to the repeated cycle of birth and death. Whether a being lives to enrich life or degrade it, a life has to be lived in order to accomplish its goal. If the goal isn't reached in one lifetime then another has to be taken to reach it.
    The key to karma is to become free from desire and free from attachment to the outcome of one's efforts. To simply exist in God's creation and walk the path He has laid before us. When the mind isn't focused on the trivialities of material life and it's all trivial, being as it is temporary in nature. Then life becomes a constant joy. Situated in self realization the machinations of the material nature go on without any need to direct them at all. All needs are met, every door is opened, every obstacle removed or overcome as a matter of course. The forces of nature when left to their own devices become an abundance of gentle support on the road home to the creator. The only real obstacle of any concern is the interruption and interference by the false ego. The "I" that wishes to be king in the Lord's kingdom. When the only desire is to serve the creator then the creator naturally bestows everything needed to advance in His service. When the desire is to serve the false ego, then the soul is left to fend for itself inside an indifferent universe of limited resources all competed for by others. Suddenly everything becomes hard fought for and won, or lost. Give it all to God in loving devotion. Then win or lose in material things, permanent gains are made in the Lord's favour.

There`re expressions with a similar meaning in many languages. The idea is that when you do something good, oftentimes you get punished for it. I`ve seen people punished severely for doing good deeds. They paid dearly for their kindness and compassion.
