I have been using scales, and I have wanted to use arpeggios in my improvisations, this lesson is perfect

Oh man, arpeggios is the thing to focus on to go in to more jazz style improvisation. I would say both Swing and bebop melodies both are very oriented around arpeggios. More to come on this subject!

Great lesson. One of the best explanation of "swing" that never used the word swing :-)

I’m still working on the workshop video for All Of Me, but I love the arpeggios. I find that they help me simply the learning process for soloing. thanks again for the great lesson!

This is very good information! I was about to write to you, requesting that you explain how arpeggios fit in with with improvisation, but you were one step ahead. Thank you for this lesson, it's just what I need to move ahead.

I've been a chord tone playing guitarist for decades. I've been building my mandolin chops playing fiddle tunes for a long time but have always missed that automatic chord-tone note targeting that is so natural for me on the guitar. Lately I've been transcribing mandolinists like Emory Lester because he seems to lean more heavily on chordal ideas in his lines. Transcribing helps me visualize the neck much more easily.

Sounds cool! Transcribing is one of these things you can't do enough. So valuable!

I am pretty new to jazz improv but love it. I have been mostly using scales..a little afraid of arpeggios but like to try it. Looking forward to your mandolin academy.

Can you make a mandolin vid for beginners? I play guitar and am trying to get into mandolin but it's hard. My biggest problem is fretting the higher notes.
Btw I love your videos! ☺️
