As someone who has been playing various instruments, singing and performing throughout the majority of my life, and as someone who went to school for music......this is insanity! The good kind. I have no idea how they do this type of performing live so effectively. Even if the chord progressions and rhythms are simple, the lyrics and delivery are just crazy. If these were my songs, I would have recorded them once and then never attempted to perform them live lol. At least not as a duo. One mistake and they're both going off the rails. Amazing that the mistake never comes! Too damn good.

They rehearse. A lot. We'd probably be gob-smacked at the amount of rehearsal time that goes into a single song like this one. Ain't no way they wing it. This requires Lots & lots (and lots) of practice. The fact that they make it look 'easy' is all you need to know about rehearsals.
@@davidowens5898 I work in entertainment, so Im aware of the rehearsals required to turn it into basically muscle memory. Seen it in action. But there are still moments that happen. On one of the couch sessions Rikki hit a bum not, or a different note than they had previously rehearsed, and Kate stopped immediately, Saying "Wtf was that?" And Rikki said "I did this" and Kate said "Oh, thats nice" and they backed it up and restarted. It was cute, but Kate did look a little annoyed

The amount of lyrics these two are able to remember with no catchy breaky bridge in the middle .... they're just absolutely wonderful poets and Lyricist and musicians. On top of being Amazing And Intelligent Women.

I absolutely loved the "choosing between left from wrong" bit. That was priceless.
Oh yes. But when you learn that the left right spectrum is "government control over all resources" and right is "personal ownership of all resources" how much of your personal rights are you willing to give up to the government? What really sucks is the absurd things the left says about the right which has nothing to do with the definition. Bottom line is if someone wants to take your freedom and property they are on the left. There's nothing "right wing" about hating others or wanting to control someone else's life. It's by definition wrong.

Given how far to the right we have gone in the USA over the last 40 years compared to other developed democracies, I think it has become much much easier to find topics on which the liberal view is far easier to defend than the right-wing one.
For example, I think we are the ONLY developed democracy that allows its citizens to be at the mercy of their employer for healthcare. My husband has been through 3 jobs in the last 2 years, and trying to navigate new insurance and new medical providers is a PITA.

1) Abortion now difficult and/or outlawed in much of the country;
2) Churches freely endorsing candidates with no repercussions;
3) Low union membership and corporations treating workers as disposable;
4) Mass incarceration of poor people and brown people.
Worse than in the 1960s:
5) For-profit healthcare;
6) Pharmaceuticals advertised directly to patients.
Unprecedented:
7) People storming the Capitol to take lawmakers hostage because they believe Trump's lies about the stolen election.
More than that, I would have hoped the USA would have made more progress than it has.
Yes, we may treat gay people better in general, but there's still massive violence against gays in this country.
Yes, there may be fewer obviously racially-prejudiced laws, but the system is still stacked against anyone who is not white.

I can write a good blues song, but every time I try to write something political it comes off too heavy handed. I'm not sure if I get too invested in it or what. I can be snarky on politics, but when it comes to lyrics and snark I just don't have the magic touch.
