actually it did. at that point, the USWNT was leading in penalties. when she missed, except for Naeher (the US goalie) the succeeding players also missed. Naeher tried her best defense on the last penalty but it went in..though barely.

I've coached at every level including the national level. The more I've watched that PK the more I'm wondering if she didn't miss that on purpose. Her reaction is particularly odd and she hasn't talked about the miss at all that I've seen on TV...if Ronaldo missed a PK that cost a win especially to advance when you've got it won. You are going against a professional keeper who will easily save it, if you go for precision. If you go for power and you never kicked said ball you will most likely miss the goal entirely, sure you could get lucky, but I bet 9/10 of those penalties by complete amateurs would have been missed or saved in those circumstances [40.000 people watching]
