    Today we are visiting 7 must see attractions in Charleston West Virginia.
    You may be surprised to discover that Charleston is such a beautiful destination. It sits in the Kanawha river valley surrounded by forested mountain slopes on all sides. Charleston West Virginia is a place not to be missed when you visit the mountain state.
    Today we will be visiting 7 must see attractions in Charleston West Virginia starting with the state capitol building. It is surrounded by monuments, and features a dome covered in gold leaf. One great thing about the West Virginia State Capitol is that you can go inside, something I highly recommend.
    The next must see attraction is the West Virginia Veterans Memorial on the capitol grounds. There are actually several monuments to see, one for gold star families, women veterans, and finally one for all the heroes who have died in war.
    While on the West Virginia Capitol Building grounds be sure to visit the West Virginia State Museum. This museum is very well put together, and covers the history of West Virginia from pre-historic times through the present day.
    From the West Virginia State Museum we go on to the Kanawha river walk. The section directly across the street from the capitol building is very nice, and offers views of the University of Charleston.
    Next we are on to the Carriage Trail. This beautiful forested trail has a small park at the bottom, and offers some of the best views of the city at the top.
    You may be hungry after climbing the carriage trail, and for that I recommend going to the historic Capital Street in downtown Charleston. There you will find several great restaurants.
    Just up the street is the Capital Street Market. This trendy historic market also has a lot of great options for getting something to eat. It is also a great place to get a bottle of wine, some chocolates, or local hand crafts.
    We end our visit with two young people who have spent a lot of time working closely with he local community to learn more about the people who live in this beautiful city.
    Don't forget to subscribe for more great destinations as videos are made available.

    Lived in Charleston from 96-05. It was a nice place back in those days, I haven't been back since. It had low crime rate and a lot of retired people.

      @@exotictravelwithrain9504 I have never been there. We drove thru W Virginia on our way back to New Jersey back in 2019. The countryside in New Jersey is another beautiful place if you have never been. Out of the cities and up north a little. I was pleasantly surprised. NJ is highly underrated.

    Rain, Excellent video, loved it now I have to visit Charleston. You did an excellent work with the different places to visit as a tourist. Video intro was good.and it shows throughout the video as well. My comment for you to make it more dramatic is to focus on something you think is important and slowly unfold it from near. you can do that thru a drone. so maybe you can do it or engage someone to do it for you. Wish you g luck with your ventures/

      I am glad you liked the video. I love the idea of the drone footage. I am going to have to work that into future projects.

    I think a title page between your intro and the start of the destination- just white on black lettering saying something like "Charelston West Virginia- Dec 10 2021" would probably clear up most of the confusion that you got from the comments. I'd request Blackwater Falls/Senecca Rocks area video. With Corridor H/route 48 going in connecting WV to DC more directly it will become a more popular destination in the coming years.

      Thanks for the suggestions. I will have to see about adding the title page as you suggested in future videos. I was very confused when people were suggesting the video was about Charleston South Carolina in some of the comments.

    Where is this town with the lighthouse? I grew up in CRW and have never seen the places in the beginning of the video.

    • @exotictravelwithrain9504
      @exotictravelwithrain9504  Před 2 lety +1

      Do you mean from the intro? I use the same intro for all my videos, so those places are not from West Virginia. The lighthouse is West Quoddy Head lighthouse near Lubec, Maine. There are also images of Boston in Massachusetts, and New York City. I have really enjoyed my time in West Virginia, and maybe I will add some of the places I have seen here in the future.

    As an Asian, I'm worried about visiting WV where less 1% of the population is Asian. Should I be concerned?

    • @exotictravelwithrain9504
      @exotictravelwithrain9504  Před 8 měsíci +1

      As an Asian myself, I can say I never felt unsafe, or unwelcome in West Virginia. The fall colors will be amazing this time of year as well, so if you are thinking if a visit, plan it out and go for it. It's a really beautiful place.

      The majority of us mountaineers are very welcoming to everybody. We find joy in foreigners and outsiders appreciating our state. However, there are parts that might not be as welcoming to outsiders. Places I wouldn't even go to that are still stuck in the past. But they usually dont mess with anyone if they aren't provoked

    This is Charleston south Carolina. Not west Virginia. I live in Charleston. We have no oceans nor light houses.

      I understand the confusion. That is just the intro. I have traveled all over. Keep watching past the intro and you will see your hometown. The images in the intro are actually from Maine, Boston, and New York. I hope you keep watching, and enjoy how I show your hometown.
