For people wondering, John the Ruthless has about 185k average damage with this ship. Making this game a slightly above average game for John. So I really really recommend people watch him play Colbert because that guy is nuts.
Didn't John get a 500k+ game fairly recently?

JTR is probably the best individual warships player in the game right now, the man makes pretty much any ship he plays look incredibly insane.
I wonder how he gets such damage games, when the enemy BBs decide to stay behind 20 km distance, as always happens with me playing this ship. Or i manage to find the ideal stone camping spot but the DD decides to leave my flank and start a tour around the World to the other side, leaving me without spotting
If you have a lot of blue ship XP boosters, you can pay for Defence with RB points only. It takes me about 4 hours of play to play through a Harugumo reset. Event is available for approximately 42 more days. 10 Haru resets gets you Defence (40 hours). John the Ruthless confirmed on his Twitch stream that he only paid RB points for Kitakami. Hope that helps. Just added this reply to another post for information.
One of my most favourite T10s, if not the favourite. I run a ''suicide'' build, no concealment, giving up everything for dpm, no extra range.
Edit. Watched the vid till the end and realized that your build is the same as mine, except I traded last stand for incoming fire alert (I don't know if that's the correct name), might change that, but damn, I am so unoriginal.
Do you also complain about support when you die first?

Jokes aside, no, I TRY to be one of the very few people that are aware of their shortcomings, so I mostly try to keep my cool and blame myself first. Wows is a game and I keep that in my mind every time I play it, because my priority is to relax and have some ''fun''.
@@jakubslavik5595 I suppose it would sort of be like running a full secondary build on, say a Flandre. Not exactly "optimal", but VERY fun when it works out.
finally some people are awakening how CE skill can be waste of points better invested elsewhere
@@quinnwu2054 Well, I will be speaking as someone who has been playing the game for a long time (since beta), I am not good by any means, but having played the game for such a period I look for new ways to play the game, to get better, so I give myself disadvantages that I have to play around which opens my mind.
Just watched this video and fired up the Colbert to a nice 174k kraken game. Saw Johns videos a few months ago and inspired me to get this ship! Merry Crimmus

I have most of the steel ships now except the shiki, FDR, and R, Lauria. Definitely don't want the FDR, but im not sure what to get now
I play the console version( wows legends) where Colbert has 32 mm bow , you can reach 16 km range with full dpm build, i bully everything in my path exept by Yamato(the only ship overmatch 32mm in console) , this ship is so funny and so overpower haha

Get it and play it in COOP= that is the best thing ever to recover from toxic random games! SO MUCH FUN

the ship is definition of you die as a hero(for the enemy) or live long enough to become the villain(for your team). the dpm is absurd

Was thinking of getting this ship but I hate the Marceau. If it is just a bigger Marceau I’d hate it as well
Colbert has better ballistics than Marceau, despite having the same guns. Colbert is more of an island hugger and not an open water gunboat, drastically different playstyle.
Double the amount of guns, as someone already mentioned, better ballistics, no torps, so 100% focus on guns. Yes, it's a floating paper citadel, but the trick is not to be seen at all most of the time. The battle influence is questionable, damage numbers at times too, but the amount of fun you get, undeniable. High risk, high reward example.

As a BB player, I actually regretted getting Ohio instead of this. As soon as I picked up Colbert I felt the power that I was always on the receiving end in Ohio lol.

In WoWs mobile we can manually play with secondary weapon, when i first try and ask developers on stream, why they not making this in pc? answer - this will be very hard for player bays.
Potato Quality , i just played some Zao games and had some close range encounters. I noticed the base secondary range is 7.7 km , so what would it look like with a full secondary build? Can the secondary range expand enough to beat your concealment? Can you even utilize this build? Well if someone can it would be you lol. I mean 3 harugumo turrets on each side sounds quite useful

Only in Wg's fantasy light cruisers BUILT for AA are helpless against CVs.
Anyway, Colbert is mad fun, i don't have the balls to run a no conceal build but damn, it's a good ship.
Only in WoW player's fantasy a single AA cruiser could do shit against a CV. There is a reason why CVs made such a huge impact on naval warfare. US won the war on the Pacific theater not thanks to AA cruisers, but thanks to CVs.
Not to mention that he killed third of his planes alone...
I play this and my Gibralter a lot and have a blast in them at other's expense. My karma does take a massive hit when things are going well since NOBODY compliments anymore- but they make damn sure to gig karma every chance they get. (Yes, I know what they say about karma- most of the people saying that have earned NONE, and never will.)

Defence and F.F won’t be accessible for a year, however, there are some new ships that I’m interested in, Sicilia and Rhode Island mainly, so your choice honestly, Defence is a good ship, but it’s extremely pricy and not worth it imo.
The fact that this was a dedicated AA ship irl from the 50s and 60s with tons of fast reloading duel purp 127s AND advanced radar fire control
And it still doesn't shoot down planes in wows is actually fucking insane!
Nakhimov has 20/18/18 (rocket/torp/bomber) planes at the beginning of the match. Game lasts 20 min or 1200 sec. Nakhimov was killed at around 10 min mark, so that's 600 sec of game time. Regen time for planes are 70/93/91, so that means in these 600 seconds of game he could regen 8/6/6 planes, for a total of 28/24/24 or in sum total 76 planes. At the end of the match PQ killed 24 planes, which is roughly third of the planes. How is that "still doesn't shoot down planes"?
Not to mention that this guy didn't only attack him entire game (first attack around 4:30 ingame mark), but other ships as well, so you can pump those percentages even more.

Easily the most enjoyable RB ship.
I got Ohio first and Colbert second but can only recommend going for the French cruiser first.
This ship gets you involved, it brings you right in the action.
Sure, you can blow up in a second, but the fun outweighs everything.

Yeah that’s not even close to the world record. John The Ruthless has multiple videos getting well over 419k in the Colbert and I think the actual world record is closer to 550k

pls help: Should I spent 450k Coal +Steel + Rpoints on Carraciolo tier 7 cruiser and the Defence? or Yoshino + Salem?
First option is crazy overpriced. Defence is good, but not that good imo. Especially if you need to put a lot of strain on your resources to obtain it. The latter, depends on your playstyle, but Yoshino feels mediocre, average at best, little to no battle impact, just dmg farmer. Again, if you are abundant in resources get Salem, but if not - Des Moines + legendary mod would be a better choice. Zombie heal is nice, but it's good mostly for fire damage and as a cruiser you end up facing a lot of AP focus, so super heal is not as useful as people think.

@@shawnanderson9490 I reset Harugumo once for 2x the RP but I don't have Free XP to reset again and again. what you see on Twitch is a press account with many racecourses, no real life player will have the free XP to reset 10 x the Harugumo line.

3:30 I feel it shouldn't be that a ship on it's own regardless of how many guns it has should be able to sustain itself against a CV. Though based on what Wargaming have said that will likely be the case with the CV/AA change they are planning. Still leaving me very much wondering what CVs will even be able to do in the future. If solo ships and groups of ships both are able to knock out a lot of planes, I would assume it wouldn't be to long into a game where the CV can do nothing because it's effectively out of planes.
Like I would really like it explained to me why people think AA should prevent air attacks fully. I honestly do not get that mentality. Like how fair would it be if my CV gained the ability to put up a force-field that just made your shells in flight disappear unless you blind fired? The answer is that it wouldn't be. So why then do people want CVs to have to deal with that exact thing?
I assume you are a CV main? And if you are you really don't understand how your planes can impact a game, with no risk what so ever to your ship.why do you get to attack people and have no risk? Why can't A bad CV player lose their planes if they suck, just like a bad ship driver pays the price for a shit move.
@@rungfang27 Nope I play a bit of everything, don't main any specific ship type. I will note, a CV with no planes may as well be dead, and it is very possible if you play like the bots and just fly straight through flak, to lose all of your planes and then only even be able to spot temporarily every minute or so.

I agree with that, but what Potato even suggested in this video is that his Colbert on its own should be a no fly zone for CVs. His air detect with concealment mods is lower than his AA range. It wouldn't matter if a CV was skilled or not they would not see his Colbert before it was to late and with AA being that strong the CV would get punished for doing nothing specifically wrong. It's THAT idea that I do not understand. AA should not be a magical force-field that prevents CVs from attacking you. It should be there to punish them for doing so to varying levels depending on how many ships you are attacking into. 1 single ship should never be a no fly zone on it's own. That is simply bad game design.
I do also disagree with the "no risk" part. I've seen and been on the receiving end of T10 BBs deleting the CV at the start of the game, with nothing the CV can do to prevent it. Yes this does take the other teams CV to spot the CV being deleted, but that's the funny thing with CVs, there is always at least one per team if there are any in the battle.
@@Stephen__White hey dude, if their favourite CC says CV should get immunity from CV attacks, who are you to question that. If this guy says he is helpless against CV while killing third of it's plane alone, then you have to agree with that. CC opinion > facts and numbers.
@@amaratc Issue is these arguments make their way into official feedback channels, and seeing as its not a good faith argument it muddies the water and make the whole discussion a lot less productive.
Plus seeing as this is a constant every time Potato sees a CV, I honestly would like(though I know it's highly unlikely he ever would) for Potato to actually explain why he wants AA to be a magical force-field that prevents the CV from playing the game.
Also it is less of "CC says this so it must be right" and more people naturally like to flock to echo chambers. People enjoy finding others who share their opinions on things and literally echo those opinions back and forth. I found Potato because of the Canadian government(thanks bill C-11), and stuck around because there are things I can learn from his game play, but his(and many CCs and former CCs) random hatred of current CVs just baffles me.
@@Stephen__White because he could seal club even harder and get more views/money? I mean he has a lot of occasions where he does some 30k per salvo and says it's only mediocre because he didn't scored any citadels.
Trust me, even here in chat you can see people saying this ship is useless against CV even though he killed third of Nakhimov planes and they all saw it with their own eyes. In 600 second of CV's life, CV had max 76 planes, and PQ killed 24 of them. And he wasn't even attacked entire game and was attacked by that imba Soviet CV gimmick which by (stupid) design has low losses.
I have seen same story on Flamu channel. He is complaining as well how a guy, with 3x3 plane formation, made 7k dmg in first run. Flamu shot down 4 planes and then clip ends. And guy in comments says that's at least 21k dmg that's going to be done to him, even though he saw with his own eyes that 4 planes were shot down, so there is no possibility with 3rd strike at all, and even second one will be with 33-66% less strength.
