I saw the great Jo Van Fleet as Amanda. She was wonderful. Funny, I don't see how ANYONE, let alone someone who is supposed to be a great actress, could not be moved by this play from day one -- to the point of having to COME to realize its greatness, having to be SHOWN its merits? Very strange. The first time I read it, I felt its beauty and sensitivity.
I would love to have seen her live. Fleet playing opposite James Dean as his mother in "East of Eden" especially in their longest scene together, she is so alive in anger & energy.
No, I didn't. I would have LOVED that. My sister and I saw TGM and my mom and 6 year old daughter were up the street seeing 'Annie'. We went to the 8 p.m. shows and by the time it was over, it was 11:00 and we were in Times Square, 2 trains away from where we needed to be with a 6 year old. Plus, I'm not sure my sister would have been into staying but I totally would have. I was such a fangril during that show, it was pathetic!
did you happen to wait stagedoor/ do you know if any of the performers come out after the show? i am dying to meet celia keenan bolger and the rest of the cast!
Brian and Cherry were absolutely superb in the London production of this which I saw about 40 times. Totally fell in love with it
