Fish not your thing? What about Sandwiches in London?
czcams.com/video/8-dhcyrYdc4/video.html
Can you do best sunday roast or best sticky toffee pudding with custard (really hard to find)!?
No such thing as best Fish & Chips; because straight out of a deep-fryer they ALL taste of nothing but cooking oil.
The Fryer's Delight.
19 Theobalds Rd, London WC1X 8SL
Old school fish and chips and 10.50 đ
Definitely this one âïž
Worst fish n chips Iâve ever had, rancid old oil that hasnât been changed for about 15 years, sorry !
One of the few places that cook with Tallow
Some of these prices feel rather expensive, here in South West England, you can buy fish and chips for under ÂŁ10.
the rent in london is a lot higher
That is rare now, and you know it
Kebab and chips for us is ÂŁ12, fish and chips about ÂŁ10. Norfolk.
But your salaries are lower on average than the people buying fish and chips in London (or pints) - free market means prices will inflate yo what the market it will pay (accommodating the cost of doing business)
I can get a fish dinner (with a massive fish) for ÂŁ8 in Liverpool and as its a fish dinner you get mushy peas and either curry or gravy with it
lovely stuff
Back in the day it was The Seashell of Lisson Grove for me.
Was going to comment the same itâs very good lots of cabs outside too so must be a cabbie favourite
10 yrs ago, this was the best. disappointed when went back in sept 23,
I have 1 rule in life, "Never buy fish and chips from somewhere which also sells southern fried chicken or donner kebab"
100% agree
Same thing. I have rule about Asian restaurants selling Chinese food with Sushi or Thai foods together. Just not professional to me.
I only buy a Fish supper from Italian Fish and Chip shops. Fact
Not bad if thatâs the only rule you got h đ
Wish I had your life. I have 2 things that rule my life.
Great vlog/review. Thanks man!
Love this style of video! It's very Insider food tours style!
For me, the best chippy in London is my local chippy, Kenâs Fish Bar. It featured on Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix and Jay Rayner has said itâs the best, if thatâs anything to go by.
Chips are great, fish is great as batter is great.
(Its in South-East London, between Dulwich and Herne Hill)
I canât wait to try this one day, was a great feature in that episode
@@TomtheTaxiDriverIf you do an episode of fish and chip shops outside of central, definitely feature them. 11/10 quality and Ken is really friendly !
I agree. I love Kenâs fish and chips.
Kens is the best in south
I would also add Station Fish Bar outside West Ham Station. Fish is superb , loads of chips which are perfection and their Southern Fried Chicken is the best I have had.
Love the video Tom, but it made me laugh at @4:40 when you said "That's the great thing about the Fish n Chip experience is finding a wall or a bench", then you end up just eating it standing up đ€Łđ.
What is crazy to me is how this channel is still under 100k subs.
âYou donât look like a cab driver.â Keep eating all that fish and chips and it wonât take long.
ÂŁ6.99 fish chips and mushy peas at mine in the north. Delicious as well.
Great video Tom love that đđđ
Glad to see Poppies is still going. Had some good fish & chips from there over the years.
If you're off the beaten track out east, Ifratelli at the top of West Ham Lane in Stratford are pretty hard to beat. Italian family owned, they've been there since 1966.
Closed on Mondays like a proper fish and chip shop should be. The traditional reason for this is that people didn't go fishing on Sundays so there would be no fish at the wholesale markets on a Monday morning. So if someone was open on Monday they were selling two day old fish. Doesn't really matter with refrigeration nowadays but it's funny how what once had a good reason begind it has just now become tradition.
Thank You Tom .
Excellent Fish Chipps.
The chippy on Pembridge Road near the mini roundabout is a nice one
Visited London for the first time last summer and landed on Fishcotheque - delighted to see it come out on top here! Had a great experience with it.
Two of my favourites are Kennedy's on Goswell Road and Fish Central, on Central Street.
I agree with you . Been giving them both business for over 20 years .
I've actually sat where you were sat at Waterloo but with a kebab from the place over the road. Really entertaining video.
Did anyone else spot the real Routemaster going past at 1:52.
Priceless.
Nice to see promotion of other Traditional forms of London Transport. đ
Tom finally does Fishcotheque
Found it a couple of years ago when looking for a good chippie to take an American friend to... definitely not disappointed
Such a personal thing, a regular topic of conversation on the rank...fishcoteque looked great.
Fishcotheque⊠love that place! Used to frequent there when I worked at NT
Thanks for sharing
Great video Sir
respect on the baracuta jacket
amazing video bro
This must have been a very fun video to film! Haha
ÂŁ14.60 for the first one. I'm gonna get angry watching this. I pay half that price for bigger and better up in the north
Us northerners would die if we payed that price đđ
Price of doing business in that London unfortunately. I grew up 20 miles from Whitby and I would guess its ÂŁ10 or so for fish and chips from most places.
@kirklamplugh5062 ÂŁ7.50 round here. Just outside Leeds
Worked and lived in whitby for couple years and loved it. Think it's only that expensive in the tourist traps.
@@GittosGaming perfectly fair but Tom is covering very central London areas in this piece, so thats the comparison. Its not like he's checking out prices in Hounslow or Wood Green. I bet The Magpie and Hadleys in Whitby are probably 12 quid for takeaway.
My fav local chippy is Mr Chips in the City of Salford.
Regular Cod/Haddock & Chips costs ÂŁ7.75 (6oz)
Large Cod/Haddock & Chips ÂŁ9.45 (8oz)
Small Cod/Haddock & Chips (small) with Mushy Peas ÂŁ4.50 (3oz)
I think one great thing about most chippies is the large portions of chips so me and the partner will get two fish and share a portion of chips. Itâs more than enough for us.
Great to watch all your You Tube streams I was born in London lived there for 27 years growing up we used to to admire the London cab drivers due to the knowledge that you have to learn
Keep them coming..
Do you know Mark the taxi driver done a best fish and chip stream.
Best regards
85 year old silver surfer
I just subscribed great Channel thanks
Iâm a new subscriber đŹđ§â . From Los Angeles CA. Great Reviews. Cheers đ„ .
I love your taxi vlogs, Tom, but itâs also great to have other content as well. Food reviews, places of interest off the beaten track, history. Who better than a friendly, likeable and knowledgeable taxi driver to show us all the real London. Keep up the great work!!!
The Seashell of Lisson Grove - still the best and caters for all budgets. You can dine in and have the full works washed down with a lovely chilled Chablis or just go for a takeout. Never been disappointed.
Gotta try the Laughing Halibut on Strutton Ground.
Mr Tom saw you today around Pimlico greetings from a PHV Driver â€
Best I've tried is the ideal fish bar in pinner, northwest London, pretty far from the centre but they do some of the best fish and chips I've had!
For me, Golden Union off Oxford Street does the trick. Eaten there a bunch of times now, and their Haddock & Chips pretty much always hits the spot. Their soft swirl afterwards is perfect to round off the meal.
For the few years leading up to covid I worked off Covent Garden. The best thing about going on somewhere after office hours was treating my self to some âtop chipsâ, as they became known, from Rock and Sole Plaice. Worked for me! Nom đ
Got to try Fryers delight on Theobalds road, central, round corner from Holborn station, they only take cash but trust me, proper worth it!!
The Sea Shell on Lisson Grove, any of the Sutton and Sons, and the one on the top of Poland St, been there ages but think it's changed names a few times now, and the Golden Hind on Marylebone Lane. Mental about Fishcoteque, been past there, literally, hundreds of times, and never been tempted to stop. Always thought it looked like it would be awful. Nice surprise that.
Sea shell used to be good years gone right down the pan
SeaShell is terrible now
Seashell of Lisson Grove is my favourite in London. Give that a try!
You should consider trying different Mash and Pie Shops (eg. Manze, Cooke)
You'll be making him eat eels next!
Now youâre talking. Goddardâs in Greenwich gets my vote. Sad they couldnât stay in their old shop but even being across the road in Greenwich Market itâs just as good and single/single for ÂŁ5.50 is a bargain all things considered.
Josephs fish and chips on Tower Bridge Road is worth a try when your in the area Tom. Also Toffs in Muswell hill is legendary!
I'm the total opposite when it comes to skin on the fish. Not for me at all.
Tom Tom Tom!âŠ
Kennedy's of Goswell Road or Barbican
Câmon driver, these are legendary!
Followup required!
Have a great day!! â€
Fish! In borough market is lovely
Forgot Gravelys in Leeds town centre eat in or take out theyâre lovely too.
I always appreciate the varied topics in your videos, Tom. Very interestingđđŒ
I went on a tourist trip to London during last week and had fish&chips at that exact Hobsons near Charing Cross, what a coincidenceđ Just like you i gave it a solid 7/10. Taste wasnÂŽt remarkable, and i can make a pretty good replica at home in my kitchen. Quite expensive also if you like me, come from a Euro currency country. The pound seems to be strong at the moment.
I like Seashell in Lisson Grove - best fish and chips in London!
I'd suggest Fish! kitchen in borough market. Worked for KCL and divided time between Guy's Campus and James Clerk Maxwell Building
đđ
Could try the Laughing Halibut, 38 Strutton Ground
I think you should try the Mayfair chippie it's spot on Tom taken my whole family there a few times and they all love it đđ»đđ»
I remember our local fish and chip in Camden Road, Tunbridge Wells having a picture of Arthur Mullard on the wall. Better than John Prescott, I think plus they always had a queue every lunchtime which was something missed these days.
Sutton and sons on Stoke Newington High Street ... With nice homemade tartar and of course mushy peas.
@tomâŠno Fryers Delight?
Sorry mate my favorite and I Grew up with Mr.Fish Queens Pk station. Canât miss it on the corner !! đđŸđđŸ
Should have gone to Masters Superfish in Waterloo.... pricey but best f&c in my opinion.
You should check out the golden chippy in greenwich
Pretty sure Fishcoteque is where my dad and I went one year some time ago. We got into a black cab and asked the driver to take us to his favorite chip shop, and he even went inside with us and ordered himself lunch. Aaron Eckhart was in there eating, too.
ÂŁ14.60 jeezus wept đ
about the same as a pint of lager
Refreshing to get honest opinions in these reviews. As for the spots, golden union in soho is the one for me. If youâre a mushy peas person, also the best in London imo
Masters superfish - Waterloo road. Best f&c in london. Try their mustard cod. Been there for decades! Well worth a try.
The sea shell in marylebone use to be the bees knees. These days Mr Fish in Queens Park and than a nice sit in the park is great
How about Sea Fresh on Wilton Road in Pimlico? Just a few days ago, I spent ÂŁ6.50 on 3 cod pieces & chips (although I was given 4). OK, itâs not your traditional âfishâ as itâs the smaller cod pieces. But at ÂŁ6.50, who can argue with that?
Great british takeaway fish & chips đđ
Hi Tom my favourite fish n chips is in Ealing just near to Hangerlane train station
Did you do all of them in one day including finishing each portion?
To give traditional Fish & Chips flavour they need hot chillies and spices, otherwise straight out of a deep-fryer the only flavour that comes through is that of cooking oil.
Yah made me hungry, Tom!!!! nom nom nom
My local fish and Chip shop "Mr Fish" in Queens Park is my favourite
There was an award winning chippy in Hearn Hill. Was there years ago. Not sure if still there?
went to london last week, but cant beat fish and chips in Leeds market
What the Fish in Hammersmith!!! The absolute best!!
Nice video.
You have to try fish House near Victoria Park (E97LH)
nice 1 tom.
Thanks for that, I was staying out near Olympia the other week and couldn't find a chippy. Didn't want to go to a pub as the last time I did the fish had skin on, which is a severe no, no.
Great video. Try Josephâs Fish and Chips on Tower Bridge Road 2 doors down from Manze Pie Shop. Itâs top tier!
9:04 that one looks like a frozen cod warmed up
Where is the nearest one to the Battersea area ?
Pimlico fish bar, Lupus st đ
Damn, but this video left me drooling and licking my chops wayyy out here in Oregon, USA. Fishcoteque looks like my plaice, er, place, when I next visit London. đ
Toffâs of Muswell Hill
I trust a cabbie far more than so-called influencers
Hobson near embankment poor am a Yorkshire man fish and chips is our traditional favourite đ
Fishers, near Fulham.
nice harrington
Always go for haddock over cod. Just a better fish for frying in my opinion.
Would love to see a best gluten free fish & chips in London. Heading there in September and so far Hobson's is our choice but wonder what other options there might be.
Kennedyâs goswell road and masters superfish Waterloo
All about haddock! My grandad put me onto haddock or rock Cod just isnt as good as it was 20 years ago. Soho will put your off your food đ and im a cabbie aswel.
come to newcastle, ÂŁ14.60 will get you a full takeaway and change too!
Best by far on the other side of the river is Brockleys Rock in Brockley. Delicious
This video was 100% made for me
Why are people trying to compare central london prices to some remote chip shop in their local town đ€Šââïž
The Golden Chip of Hanwell is better than all the places he reviewed. It tastes like fish + chips of my childhood!
