This song is like a well planned smorgasbord of ear candy.
excellent description!
Yes it is!!
Good for satisfying your aural fixation ;)
Sandwich table. Smörgåsbord is weird in english.
A breakfast buffet, if you will.
Welcome back my friend to the decade that never ends.
My era.
The 70s
Me too. How did I get so lucky. I never realized at the time.
Me too ✋
Me three.
You get any other recommendations for bands in this era? Bought Breakfast in America and Crisis? What Crisis LPs, love them
I'm 66 now and consider myself EXTREMELY fortunate to have lived it all.
Nothing will ever come close to the 60's and 70's.
What a blast it was.
"This song is amazing"? this album is AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fact!!
One of my fondest childhood memories is of doing a jigsaw puzzle with my dad as we listened to the Breakfast in America album
Absolute Fact!!! Every song is genius.
I have it on vinyl. Bought it in my early 20s. Not yesterday...
oui album chef d'oeuvre !tout simplement.....
Rae sour That’s a beautiful memory. It makes me tear up. Bless your heart. 💖👍🌸
I have been listening to music all of my life.....and I'm telling you, this song has the greatest outro (ending) of any song I have ever heard. For me the entire song is building toward this moment when the singer has spoken his peace, walked to his spaceship, strapped himself in and taken off for the stratosphere and beyond. Everytime I hear this ending I feel like I am leaving my body and traveling at supersonic speed to the ends of the universe. Goosebumps big-time!
Great description, so true!
@@alrivers2297 Thanks Al. I've felt this for a long time, and this reaction video finally gave me a chance to express it....incredible ending to a song...
Ditto!
Yes David. One of the greatest outos ever. Try listening to Wurm by Yes - that too has a great guitar outro
Truth... and the crazy thing is that mainstream pop radio stations often will play the abbreviated version of this song WITHOUT the outro solo, which is among the best of all time. I put it in a tie with Boston's "Hitch a Ride"
Supertramp is fantastic: Give a Little Bit, Breakfast in America, School, Bloody Well Right.
You're Bloody Well Right they are.
School is so underrated
School is my all time favorite, when I got The crime of the century album in the 70's , school just got me hooked, Breakfast in America was probably the most popular album but Crime of the century is my fav.
Supertramp was one of "THE SUPERGROUPS" of the 1970s.
•Crime if the Century
•Even in the Quietest Moments
•Breakfast in America
is their Trilogy of Masterpieces.
These were superbly produced recordings, much to the delight of serious audiophiles and music aficionados wherever fine Vinyl LP records were sold!
✌🍁✌
Crisis? What Crisis? is also a phenomenal album. Definitely underrated.
@@luisalonsoecheverria Crisis? What Crisis? Is actually Roger Hodgson's favourite Supertramp album. A little trivia!
Henrik It is! It wasn’t always though.
if you are going to talk masterpieces, school is at the top of the list.
Whole Breakfast in America album is nothing but hits.
I got this album for my sixteenth birthday.
@@kierstenridgway4634 Excellent - enjoy!
universal1 11 lol it might’ve been 30 years ago...
Perfect album
Except Casual Conversations, that's so out of place on there.
This song always brings a smile to my face. It's pure joy. Glad you liked it.
Me too!
I agree!
Jovaughn: I think we're in for a ride with this one.
Me: JUST WAIT...
🤪
B-b-b-baby, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Right? 😊
"It's raining again" is another good one
You know its a good song when you just start giggling in amazement.
Supertramp has such a unique sound of their own. They are so awesome!!
Supertramp: As fresh and beautiful as another early Springtime day. Timeless.
Beautiful
Breakfast In America is one of my Top 5 albums of all time. It's like a greatest hits album. They did not put any filler "B side" songs on it. EVERY song is a classic."
JV, glad you're doing multiple songs of a group. Perhaps have a day here and there completely devoted to a single artist\band.
I forgot just how much I loved Supertramp
I listened to nothing but this album for a month after it came out, I'd love to hear him react to more than just the hits - "Child of Vision" is amazing. I also think he'd be blown away by "School" from Crime of the Century.
My favorite Supertramp song! This song is awesome from top to bottom!
You can laugh at my behavior, that’ll never bother me. You say the devil is my savior. But I don’t pay no heed!
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 man, we had great music back in the day! 💜💜💜
Another great song. It so nice to hear these songs, you don’t hear them on the radio anymore. I’m so glad you get to hear these songs.
The album , ‘Breakfast In America’ is a masterpiece. It’s produced beautifully and incredibly from beginning to end.
Supertramp has so many great songs and many are listed already; here are my favorites- Dreamer, Breakfast in America, and the Logical Song . You’re so lucky to be hearing this songs for the first time. Back in the day you could just turn on your radio to your favorite FM Station😀
The whole album is genius! 👍👏 on digging them.
Haven't heard this for years, got to love Supertramp, love how enthusiastic you are about all the different musicians, and how you disect the different sections.
"Now some they do and some they don't, and some you just can't tell
And some they will and some they won't, with some it's just as well"
Thank you Supertramp for some of my favorite lyrics lol
Supertramp....Art Rock🤗🤗
Love Supertramp. Best ending to a song ever haha. I love watching reactors discovering those great groups of the past! 😊
I loved this song when it came out and I still do. Yet, it got so much radio play at the time that I enjoyed it as a fun catchy tune. Now much later I appreciate their brilliance.
The amount of times you said “wow” perfectly describes this song. An amazing achievement.
What a great song. This band was fantástic
Yes!!! Love this band ❤❤👍👍
The entire Breakfast In America album is a timeless masterpiece. Never get tired of listening to the whole thing
Just from listening to your channel, I've heard songs I've forgotten all about (I now seem to have more of an appreciation for them). I rush to download and add them to my mix. Thanks for what you do!
Saw them in concert they were awesome
I saw them in San Antonio during the Breakfast in America tour. Dancing banana and gorilla on stage... Margaret Thatcher had just been elected that day. Reagan was President.
I think my head shakin' was competing w/ur's, 'cause mine was just a bobbin' away. I love that song; havn't heard it in a while. I remember when I was about 15 yrs old or so, I use to sneak in my next to the oldest brother's room & play some of his music & Supertramp was among the ones I use to play, UNTIL...... I got caught. Glad I was his favorite sister, so I didn't get into to much trouble. I was probably more dumbfounded, then anything else! Lol...
🙌 SUPERTRAMP 🙌
Great band 😁
The album of my life always ♥️
No sale, never, my complete collection vinyl albums and cds of SUPERTRAMP! Hear ALL of SUPERTRAMP! Peace Jay✌️
Another virtuoso guitar contribution from Roger. God, I love his guitar playing.
Have you listened to The Alan Parsons Project? A couple of their well-known ones are “Games People Play” and “Time.”
I wouldn't want be like you, is another good song by Alan Parsons Project 💥👍
'Old & Wise'.....
Oh yes. Ammonia Ave is one of their best albums in my opinion. Also love me a bit of Gaudi!
His instrumental pieces are amazing. Luciferama is pure magic.
I love Time! I`ve recommended quite a bit! :)
This is my favorite Supertramp song! And your smile says it all.
This became Supertramp's biggest hit ever .
Very popular album that year. The song is great but the ending is the bomb!
You right, Jay....SUPERTRAMP is a fantastic group.
I was introduced to them in 1980. My family had just moved from Hawaii to Washington St when I was in 7th grade. I was missing my friends and felt like I was all alone in a new place.
But, as always throughout my life, music was there to save me. My uncle, who knew I LOVED all kinds of music, invited me to go over to his place. He was a professional musician. So, in his place he had HUNDREDS of vinyl records. Groups be turned me on to were The Cars, The pretenders, Jackson Browne and Supertramp.
One thing that jumped out at me, being one that loves falsetto singing, was their tenor. And, of course, their instruments. They were just a tight group.
Love those guys! Thanks for reacting
Aloha!🤙🏾
Good bye Stranger is one of my all time favorite songs!!!!
When I was about to graduate college in 1982, I was going to say goodbye to good friends Mary and Jane. It was never the same again, as it always goes... great memories!
Saw Supertramp live at a huge outdoor stadium in Vancouver around 1980. One of the most amazing shows I have ever seen.
Supertramp = 70's SUPER BAND...!!!! 😊 👍 -70SomethingGuy
Love this song
Supertramp is definitely one of my favorites
I have noticed from song to song --they have a really great way of incorporating jazz in their switches.. Sax...clarinet...piano..harmonica..all so emotional pieces ..really great! Geez...what didn't this song have?!!!
My mom took me to my first record store at 5 years old and I bought this album. This has remained my favorite song throughout my life. It fits when relationships don't work out, you are dissatisfied with a job and leave... it's perfect.
This is how I’ve always interpreted the song meaning. He went to America, had a threesome, enjoyed himself, “just the thought of those sweet ladies sends shivers through my veins and I will go on shining, shining like brand new, I’ll never look behind me, my troubles will be few.” He tells them he hopes they find their paradise and that their dreams will be nice. Then he’s on his way. At least that’s the way I’ve always interpreted it LOL. Absolutely always loved this song and this album. Thx Jay! Always enjoy your reactions.
Its also about quiting weed hence the lady names Mary and Jane.
Another AWESOME Supertramp song you must listen to: Its Raining Again.
This song is pure JUICE
Una canción perfecta y el solo de Roger al final es alucinante. Saludos bro.
One of the top groups from the 70s love them 🤗.
That keyboard break near the end, chills STILL after all these years.
My God but us boomers were spoiled weren't we?
This song is a journey. Kind of like Roundabout, with the changing rhythms.
One if my favorites from them....shoot who am I kidding....all are my favorites 🤷
You can react to every song from the album Crime of the Century and you’ll be in for a treat. You can listen to the album Crisis what Crisis or Even in the Quiets Moments and you will be in a complete smile... you can take any song from Breakfast in America or Famous Last Words and you will not be disappointed, they are just so good
If you like Supertramp and songs with something unexpected, you should definitely check out “Fools Overture” one of Supertramp’s more prog type songs and my personal fave supertramp song. Thanks for the reaction to this one 😊
That’s the one I told him to listen to a long time ago.
My all time favorite❣ But rhe whole album is great.❣❣❣
Yes thanks Jovaughn 😊, really appreciate all the work you put in to giving some of us old fogey's a chance to relive the music we love 💘 and see you experience and appreciate the soundtrack of our youth
A must listen for Supertramp is "School"...studio album version. It is also amazing
Had this album on vinyl...total classic...this song is indeed a masterpiece...
This song is groovy
Supertramp has two main song writers. This one is from Rick Davies, Take The Long Way Home is from Roger Hodgson. But horn player John Helliwell makes this band unique.
When I was a kid, unless somebody you knew had this album, you may have herd once in five days. When you did catch it,sometimes it was half over. Back then there was no self gratification, the radio set the tone,if you missed it oh well. I think that's why songs of our era resonate so well. We looked forward to them.
This song has long been a favorite.
Same here!
I had this album back in the day. I really liked them because they were like nobody else at the time. Kind of like Queen was. I think Supertramp is a totally under rated band.
This song has one of the FUNKIEST of all time outro guitar solos. Decades later and I never tire of it. Even the album cover is a work of genius. Some people really don't see that the waitress "LIBBY", with her orange juice, is actually the statue of LIBERTY with her torch standing over a food, condiment and cutlery "birds eye" view of Manhattan. Brilliant visual metaphor ! it's one of the coolest most creative album covers EVER.
21, waking up at 3:45 am to go for my bi-weekly epic 50-65 mile epic mtn bike ride. This would be one of my fav songs to wake up to.
Spinning wheel by Blood Sweat and Tears was another. Mr. Blue Sky of course.
Ridding in the Quartz Mtn /Taneanum ridges . Best damned Mtn Biking on the planet. I've ridden over 200k miles in 20+ plus states.
close second is Slick Rock. Any one rode the painted slick rock? After a bit theres this massive 25 foot straight up monolith.
Ya...rode up that. comming down was hard...i remember not quite making it...that last bit.
This whole album was awesome, and loved that album cover with it's depiction of Manhattan with items from breakfast and the waitress as the statue of liberty. They had 4 big singles off this and won two Grammy's. Keep going!
Peace from SF
Fab song, great group!
Never realized that Supertramp and ELO are in the same genre.
Welcome to 1979! 😇 enjoy all the hits of the late 1970s
listening to Supertramp is an experience like no other
I missed this and all of your videos yesterday but I'm loving them today. Always great !! This is my favorite from Supertramp
This song really has so many beautiful touches. Love it.
One of my absolute favourites. Love the guitar solo so much
This is my favorite Supertramp song, I bought the album in 1979 when I was 14😉. So glad you featured it!
I didn't know until just a few years ago that the song is about one night stands, makes sense though.
One of my favorite rock guitar solos. They way he holds that first note, then builds up to the crescendo. Melodic and nasty at the same time.
I listened to Supertramp even before the Lp Crime of the century came out and I still feel like “Dreamer” (Studio version) is my favorite Supertramp song ...
Thank you JoVaughn for another night of great music.
i forgot how much i love this song, this album, this group...
This is a truly great album. Every singe song on it is great. Can't go wrong picking any of them to listen to. I play this album all the time.
This is what you get when musicians craft a song. No click tracks, no drum machines no auto tune, just talent.
Caught up in the words....like a ship without an anchor ⚓ goodbye Mary goodbye Jane.............sweet devotion...
The ending is smooth as buttter
Can't go wrong with Supertramp!!!!
I love your smile... and your reaction to Supertramp greetings from London.
Great reaction!
Yes...this really is an amazing song!
Love it!
Love Supertramp!
Can't wait to see more on tour channel!
Thank you my friend!
Have a great night!
Stay safe!
💯🔥🖤🎶🤘
Supertramp, formed in my country [England], became one of the biggest rock bands of the '70s.
THIS BAND IS AMAZING,
GREAT SONGS 💞💯💞
Loved this song album.on release the diversity and harmonys of this great song glad you liked it J
I saw them in concert in San Antonio TX back in 79. Great visuals One of the best I've ever seen. Give a listen to "School".
Supertramp forever!!!!!!!!👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🙌🙌🇧🇷
Yes!! My favorite song by them! 🤗
AWESOME GUITAR SOLO!!
Supertramp Give A Little Bit and Moody Blues Never Comes the Day. Two songs about giving more than you take. Gonna get you to play that song.
Bloody well right, that's a good song. ; )
That is bloody well right!
This song has one of the best outros of all time and is a study in dynamics and give and take with instrumentation. Sounds like the ending of a really good movie.
Great channel, congrats from Brasil !
So glad that you got back to Supertramp. This song is great, as well as Take the Long Way Home and Breakfast in America from this album, but the real good stuff is from Crime of the Century and Even in the Quietist Moments.
. Loving the reactions tonight......... it's Sunday night before I get to listen........ Sooooooo look forward to my Jovaughn fix. ❤️
Even in the Quietest Moments and Hide in Your Shell-- two super songs by Supertramp.
Jamal told his viewers to come and check out your channel, I always liked Supertramp
