Nice grabs. I like the madison mint pieces. Probably some of my faves
Enjoyed checking out what your up to- Halloween Guardhouse, Christmas landscape bar album- good stuff! I do not who makes that bank bar but I will say, it's a cool bar to have! Keep up the great collecting😊😊👍👍
Thanks!! It ends up being VERY rare and has a value in the OLD guide book of $185
HOLY SMOKES!!! CNB!!! That’s a true blast from the past! That was their logo. Had a light up sign on top of the Penobscot Building in Downtown Detroit.
In addition to Halloween bars, I also collect bank bars, so this one is a gem!
wow! CNB sent me down the rabbit hole! I couldn't even find any docs on the bank let alone the coin. This is the only reference to the bar and this came from an old usenet post as best I can tell -
Commercial

1 oz. .999 Silver Bars
CNB/City National Bank Detroit Michigan 25th Anniversary 1949-1974. Very rare!
I sold my first copy of this bar about 15 years ago to art bar dealer, Ed
Lantz for $150 after three days of refusing his offers! It now lists in the
Art Bar Book for $185.00. My guess is only 25 pcs were struck
Ya, I found it in my book at the old value of $185
Good day at the LCS from the looks of things. That CNB bar is a looker. 🇺🇲🦅⚖️
Now I'm on a quest to figure out who made it. :-)
@@WorldMoneyWins I'm interested to find out as well.
Awesome variety 🥈👍💯
Thank you 👍
Nice scoops brother. The CNB is very cool.
It is extremely rare I discovered.
Great vintage pickups!
At work we got a Colt Ace in the box that was pretty minty and it still had the $49.50 price tag on it! (I sold it for $6k).
Holy cow!! That performed better than gold! LOL
I collect Colts. :-)
@@WorldMoneyWins it was 2nd year production and the price tag was from a hardware store! (We did not buy it for $49.50 but I did get $6k for it).
Really nice pick ups great stuff👍👍👍
Thanks 👍
The "disappearing R" is quite a mysterious discovery. I hope someone watches you knows.
It is interesting. Never seen this before.
Nice pick ups. My brother got into snagging 1oz bars and collecting them. He has a unique 1oz Easter silver Towne bar. I hope the dog gets better
The art bars are a hidden gold mine of value I think.
@WorldMoneyWins I'm moving away from 1oz buys for now. Going to start picking up 5 or 10oz bars. Putting out a video today about what I've found
Very cool , very interesting
Thank you! Cheers!
Awesome purchase
Thanks 👍
I dont know much about the silvertowne stuff either. Not the pressed bars anyway
Me either.
I’d like to start A guardhouse box of Christmas 1 oz bars myself, but not sure if I’d ever find 25 of them lol
In my area, they are SUUUUPER common.
Who were the first people to do the trade unit thing, in the modern era? Like you still have the Royal Mint doing one, in gold. I like the idea and the design too, which harkens back to a time of weights and measures, back when we used gold and silver as money.
This is how I feel. It was a time right after the departure from using silver in our currency. Probably put in motion by people that knew that it was a bad idea. No idea of the origin of the trend.
The idea wasn't licenced, if like buffaloes of today, it was generic.
A few days ago I put all of my vintage rounds together in a tube that have scales on them preparing for a video. I am so curious as to why this symbol was/is so prolific. I thought it would make for a good video topic.
@@LibertyBleeds Must be something going on in the stacker hivemind about this design, because CCT just posted a video showing the Royal Mint gold standard coin, which features scales, which I mentioned in a comment under this video. Maybe Anubis is calling out to us through the aether, to honour him, and bring balance back to our nations.
@@dleetr He is definitely! Wow, you just give me such a great idea. Hopefully this video I make will be lighter than a feather! ⚖️ 🪶 Thanks ✌🏼
I have the 1973 Madison mint Halloween bar with the cob webs in each corner witch on a broom if you’re interested in a trade for it? I’m trying to get more credit suisse 1oz bars to finish a guard house box of them.
Yeah, do you want to email me a picture? My email is in the description.
I'm always hunting Halloween 🎃
@@WorldMoneyWins yes I will. Try and get it done tomorrow.
I emailed you a couple pictures of that bar.
I emailed ya back yesterday. :-)
They'd have to be sold for five twenty-five, to get me to buy a kitsch art bar, lol.
I always like to think of ways to make money, so buying art bars for junk prices is nice when they sell on ebay for double. :-)
Yes, I probably shouldn't cpunter-signal, your attempt to gin up the junk silver art bar market then. Oh course one dissenting voice can make the interest appear more authentic. I'm just a dumb outsider who doesn't understand their passion. And they've ( the innocent eBay buyer) has the inside track on a market that's taking a sleigh ride to the moon. Heheh.
I think once the art bars catch on, their value will be more than the Ebay prices. I've bought a few off ebay at extreme prices myself.
Well ultimately there's a limited supply, and they speak to another age of America, which the young men ssed out on and the old pine for a return to. If I was to spin you some sales pitch.
I do get a nostagia hit from them. I do miss the 1980s. I'll sip on whiskey and watch ABBA videos on CZcams sometimes. I am a dork.
