This was a fun video and the design principles still hold true. I've been doing newspaper layout for 7 years; It's a huge pain in the ass on layout night, but I can only imagine how it used to be.
At 11:05 a headline typo got past the copy desk! The pitcher who fanned 16 futile Phillies was Bob Veale, not Veal. That game was played on June 1, 1965, making me wonder why a 1965 paper was chosen for analysis in this '70s film.
because graphic design remained the same until desktop publishing took root. The technology didnt change until then. That's why
the work involved! And the newspaper should be ready before the next day

Newspaper is now largely obsolete. Internet has replaced it today.
Modern schmodumb , it's all relative , I would love see what was in those 100 page big city editions I see in old Black & White movies, the kind a 'dick could hide ;behind in a hotel lobby, 7,8 and sometimes 9 columns wide with 8 point type ( long sentence, oooh noooo, Mr. BILL ).....
