Welcome to Season 8 of Sea of Thieves! Otherwise known as "The PvP Season", this brand new content update brings with it not only new cosmetics but also.. New mechanics.
With a new, PvP only way that allows you to make money, a lot of you might be wondering if this is the new, fastest way to make money in the game. So I am here to show you how you can get rich just by learning how to PvP! Of course, alongside the usual collection of highlights and funny moments.

Hearing Cliff respectfully asking if someone wants to PVP and then when they decline he takes his leave politely is the singlemost wholesome thing I will ever see in this game xD
I’ll spawn in at a outpost and have a lvl 5 reaper instant target me when I put up my emissary and they very well know I have no loot because they said that but wanted me to kill be cause why not
Whenever I play the game, whether it be to grind commendations or just to have fun some sweaty ship will roll up and sink me the moment I am about to finish up. Cliff ASKING if they want to fight is hard to believe from this game
Fast forward to Cliff trying to sink an entire server regardless who he sinks simply just because.
My first battle with this new system, I queued up as a defender and started a Veil of the Ancients voyage. I really expected to be invaded sooner, but I could not have asked for a better outcome: I was invaded at the very moment that the green tornado disappeared. Our tiny battle area was dominated by a literal fortress covered with unreasonably precise cannon batteries and blockaded by two rings of endlessly respawning ghost galleons. It was glorious.
I love this season the hard part is to find a crew that is not form of :
1- little kids
2- people who don't close the mic and want to share with you the random scream from inside his house
3- little kids who don't close the mic

It’s better to solo sloop in my opinion. It’s good practice and more often than not I run into people who have no idea what they’re doing.

As someone who is mainly a PvE player I like this update. If I want to practice PvP I can do it easily and quickly, and if I don't want PvP, most people who do are gonna be busy blasting each other, so I can probably get around to checking out tall tales for the first time without as much hassle as I've heard a lot of people having in the past.
Indeed, its much easier to just chill after work on PVE now.
The game mode is already dead doe.. the only one left are the sweats

@@user-br1ll5dq2c Nah bro pvp players arent all sweats. For a pve players they might look like sweats but go into the arena mode and you will see what a real try hard is.
@@caragas9331 arena is deleted I guess. I play hourglass a lot recently I’ve met a lot players that stumble on the tiniest mistake like me and of course I also met pure sweats which made game in 2 mins. Yesterday I basically(by telling this I mean that my perspectives were great) won 2 games by boarding in solo, but just sunk faster

Even as someone who dislikes engaging in pvp this 1v1 mechanic looks pretty fun, mainly because it fixes the main previously unfixable component of pvp in sea of thieves, all fights are unbalanced as a solo. Now there is actual matchmaking, well played rare.

Tbh all the battles I've had in Season 8 have ended with gg's, I guess it's just the PvE players who get unwantedly attacked are the slur spitters
I've been very fortunate where all of my battles ended in good faith with GG's all around, but I definitely get heated when things go wrong 😅
People were toxic cause it was always frustrating to play hours just to see all your loot stolen, or beeing two inches from the outpost just to see a galleon or brig in the pursuit then having to engage in an eternal flee chased by others, so now that if you want to fight you say it out loud the same way if you are a reaper emissary you announce yourself as ready for pvp as well as warning other crews the same way you do with the new update

Got to say, this new update is actually useful. My kill count has gone from 2 to about 15, still not great but ive been playing for a few months now so its definately helped.
Just started playing this game. Enjoy it alot, even though sank 52hours in 3 days haha still so much to learn and get better at. Ive enjoyed watching several of your vids on it now and theyre good to give me scope and more info as to what things are and good ways to do them. Do hope server sizes increase and more boats can be on one server.
Gotta say it was refreshing seeing a fellow Reaper. Seems like everyone I follow or knew was following Guardians. Been grinding and I’m 42 currently. 🔥

Honestly one of, if not the best update for SoT so far.
You can either pvp to your hearts content or you can actually for once chill a bit because most people itching for pvp are either non stop invading or actually respecting that you didn't opt in and leave you be.
No more searching for hours for a ship that at the end might run a cross the whole damn map for the pvp crowd and way less stress for the pve peeps.

You always say you are not good at PvP. But in all your videos you are owning in PvP. But I must say your storytelling ability is top notch lol. Love your videos man. Keep it up. Maybe ill run into you one day. I just started playing a week ago.

since season 8 started, i have had my most epic feeling sea of thieves moment to date. i was in a duo fight with my friend vs another sloop, my friend had boarded their ship, and i decided to ram their ship with ours and board them, my friend was terrified that i left the ship unattended, however as we had just rammed them, i jumped on their ship, killed one, and jumped back on our ship to continue sailing.
never felt more like a pirate lol
When my ship emerged from the waves as I invaded my opponent, They started spamming mercy in chat. Judging by them having the kraken set on I’m guessing they didn’t know what their hourglass did. I will never forget that battle.
Somebody on that ship touched the hourglass without reading the warning label 😅
Sad I didn’t catch this stream, but a really cool vid. Can’t wait to try these out

My first go around with the new PvP mechanic was absolutely awful due to extremely sweaty and toxic players. So I'm glad you had a pretty good time with the new stuff. I sure enjoyed it haha

I honestly really like this season so far. So far the most memorable battles I’ve had were both duo sloop fights (and my crew lost both)
-First one took so long that both crews ran out of supplies, the main reason I know this is because each of our crews asked the other if they were *also* out of supplies. They managed to get a good ram on us and then kept us occupied with boarding long enough for us to sink
-Second one was someone spawning on my crew while we were at a Sea Fort, we lost this one due to my less than stellar sailing. On the upside, I got the last commendation I needed for the Sea Forts (Get Off My Lawn if anyone’s curious) and both my friend and I found out we have pretty decent accuracy when we aren’t having to deal with the bouncy-castle Rare calls the open sea
Bro did we fight each other? Me and my friend once had a fight where the enemy sloop and us both ran out of supplies, both mentioned about it to the other while trying to desperately resupply and then we won with the ram and board.
@@luxthewriter Maybe. Was the name of the ship you fought something along the lines of "Soaring Gale"?
@@Haseotoramaki99 Uhhh…I don’t think it was, we don’t care that much about the ship names unless they’re really funny.
(That and we had an argument because of the ship existing in the first place when my friend said there was no ship in the horizon. He gives me trust issues with his eyesight)

One of the reason SOT is so frustrating and i've seen a lot of friends leave the game and never come back is the often unresponsive controls just like it happpened here in minute 6:51 not only guns sometimes not fire but sometimes the water bucket does not respond or some other game breaking situation that fails right when you least need it to and you end up losing because of that.

Oh this new season is going to be great for sea of thieves and new adventures on this channel
I played this game for about 50 hours about 8 or so months back. It is extremely fun, but I just wish that there were more ships on a server. And I wish that the map was larger, and more varied. I can see that they have added enough PVE content at this point to keep me occupied, but as far as PVP I found that I was always just starving for it when I played. Sailing forever looking for people and having them run to an outpost and log off. I swear, having someone log off after you’re chasing them is one of the worst things to experience in the game. This update make me likey
Shoutout to the first guy for giving his all! Also even though I'm pretty trash at pvp, it's a fun thing to do on occasion to work towards my ghost curse!

I wanted to enjoy this season but my experience with the matchmaking was miserable. I've been against dark adventurer set gold curse arena tryhad everytime, and even monday when i started, after a few loses i was put against someone already rep 100...

Please do more of the super long ones I love getting a snack and relaxing while watching them the short ones are nice but u should do like stacking fort of the damned or getting the gold curse in like an hour to 2 hour video idk that would be awesome!!!
The video's are as long as they need to be to tell the story, I don't intend to to stretch them with fluff just so they're longer

I found the update ok but 2 things hold me back from thinking its god tier:
- queue times in oceania are already shockingly long. (even on weekends)
- The amount of allegiance you get for each batte is very small.(I am a PvE player who has never won two battles in a row) which makes it very annoying to try and get the ghost curse which I have wanted for so long.
These two combined have made me take a break. Hopefully more people start playing in Oceania again so I can get back into PvP and get the ghost curse.

Cliff not going to lie I almost had one of the best money making days ever I had stacked probably 200,000 worth of gold with a new PVP faction thing I had a grade 5 with it I was heading to an outpost to sell and then I was attacked twice I repelled the first attack but then lag ensued on the 2nd and I lost it all you made me feel a lot better I was a guardian of Fortune so if you had arrived it would have been my Doom
Wish I could do this but I was always a passive pirate so even with 400 hours I suck at PVP. Still trying to practice though! I've got my eye on that pirate legend ghost skin :D

Hey Mr story guy I have a question for you. What are your thoughts on falkor's suggested PVE horde mode that he just released a video about. If you haven't seen the video or don't plan to look at the video the gist of it is a third option on The hourglass that lets up crew go into a increasingly harder wave of PVE challenges, sea monsters, ghost ships, Skelly ships etc, and they clock over different levels of trophies that when turned in give different amounts of gold. The catch is that if you sink at any time during The horde mode or after you lose your trophy, and when you spawn back into the normal world you can still be sunk and your trophy stolen by another crew.
I just got this game the day after season 8 started. I expected ppl to attack without hesitation cause of the numerous videos I've seen nd stories I've heard of it happening. Everybody I've run into has either helped with me what I was doing or ran away I'm not gonna complain though only a few reps away from pirate legend but I was still confused why I still haven't encountered a fight. I guess the season mechanic is y after i looked up what it was.

Even tho that guy raised the hourglass and the reapers emissary and didn’t know that was a pvp flag and on demand pvp feature tells me they don’t watch the content updates or view anything details new stuff. He was completely in the dark and pL no less. I’m just glad you explained to him what it all was maybe one day he’ll go from swabbie to pirate
A lot of people who play the game don't really keep up with the socials side of things (YT, Twitter etc.) so there's probably bunch of clueless pirates like him 😅
@@CliffTheStoryGuy Even with that in place there’s an emissary warning system now where you’re told you’re a higher value target and the hourglass reads defend or attack which entails you’ll have to fight
Thank god for this update, the greasers have their own place now and the open world can be less competitive

I once got into i fight as reaper and when i came out of the water it was a 5 galleon and 1 sloop alliance, i was a sloop... a solo sloop.
I did 2 or 3 hourglass dives and most of them were caught off guard and they sunk themselves without me putting much effort 😂

Also note! It’s not PVP only for the new factions, you can make slow progress by stacking loot with the hourglass active and going back to vote down after!

@@CliffTheStoryGuy I've been doing it fast enough where thats no problem, if you run a brig of 2 people the MM time is too long for anyone to really bother you is the secret i figured out lol
@@CliffTheStoryGuy Its more of a fun challenge to see if its possible even if more taxing and time consuming to do so this way!
Its a challenge i've set for myself to do it without ever getting any wins or proper fight rewards, like i did before with my slow grind to 75 in the other main factions (Reaper, Gold hoarder, Souls and Merchant) with no PVP (unless attacked) and no emissary flag usage.
It's a slow challenge grind for me is why i do it :D
Are you doing both sides, to get the skelly and ghost curse? I hope get the chance to get it or one of them. I would love both curses, but pvp is not my forte when it comes to firing canons.
I'm not super interested in the Athena Curse at present so I'm just shooting for Skelly, though it'll probably take me ages cus I don't see myself grinding this 24/7
