umm... i feel like this is slightly too dramatic. but maybe im jus being insensitive. like... shes literally been alive for not even a day, they dont know anything about her?? "someone missing"?? like u dont even know her. someone tell me if im being an insensitive asshole or on the right track?
Grace was never supposed to live past 24 hours. She couldn't survive with a malformed lungs and kidney. But, yeah, you're grieving over a child who came into world without a fighting chance is way too dramatic.
You're not necessarily being insensitive, but it is not too overdramatic. That was their daughter, they didn't want her to die, they wanted her to live her life, regardless of not "knowing" her or not. Imagine if it was a healthy baby that was born and died of cancer a month later, they would be heartbroken, their child ripped from them before they even had the chance to have a life. They are grieving the life that was never lived if that makes sense.
I think you got a few good replies here, but I'll give my thoughts on it as well. To me, when they say "someone will always be missing" It's not the "person" Grace that they know that are missing, but what she could have been. From this point forward, every day of their lives, there is always going to be a "what if" and that's how a person who you never got to know will be missed. Because what if you could. And they are two grieving parents, so it's not over dramatic at all, to me this whole plot is very realistic. But I have never been through something like it, so what do I know, it could be.
thanks guys for clearing it up. i can see both sides, as ive never wanted children so i guess i will never know what that would be like. another thing i'd like you guys' opinions on: why did she keep the baby then? in my eyes, if you knew that would happen to the baby and she wouldn't survive, why wouldn't you save her and yourselves the trouble and have an abortion? if they truly wanted another child, could they not keep trying? AND ANOTHER THING (sorry lol i love discussions), is no one thinking that Chas' age could effect the development in the baby? why would she put herself in that situation then? (i know this sounds dumb and insensitive, but they aren't real people & i love to critisize TV shows) i'd love to hear all your thoughts!!
