Dear brother, the reference to the Spirit in Romans 8:6 (my version read 'spiritually minded') does not refer to God the Holy Spirit. Please show me where in the Bible 'God the Holy Spirit' is used. You will not find it. The Spirit of God is the Spirit of Christ (Romans 8:9 KJV). The two terms are not interchangeable.
That's not what Romans 8 is talking about. Setting your mind on the flesh = becoming religious, going back to Sinai, forgetting about the finished work of Jesus Christ and instead depending on your own ability to perfect the flesh, as if we could justify ourselves with God through our own law-keeping, which the Bible tells us nobody can do. Nobody but Christ, which is why He had to be the one and final sacrifice for all the sin in the world.
