- Welcome to a new series I decided to make. In this series I plan to make a video on each of the Witcher Schools. I will discuss the origins, the stories and the lore behind each of the Witcher schools. I decided to kick of this series with The School of The Cat, as I believe it's origins are very interesting. How do you get Witcher armor past level 70 I've got both DLCs are all the DLC but I can't get the Witcher armor past level 70 I've had multiple playthroughs
The medallion Ciri got in the books she wears on her belt, the one she had around her neck that the crone took was Vesimirs. After you kill Imlereth but before going to Novigrad she says the crone escaped and took Vesimirs medallion her sole memento. All through the game she has the other medallion on her hip with the chain wrapped around the belt.

I loved it when i found the witcher from the school of the cat while i was wearing cat armour set and he said something like "a Wolf dressed as a cat"... Cdpr did a great job
It's little details like that, that really set the witcher apart from every other game

WitcherGeorge they had gameplay mechanics like this in fallout 3 so not really a new concept and certainly not one of a kind.

I played w3 before reading the books and when I played the game, I thought Ciri’s medallion just looked different as a cool stylistic choice, but when I found that out I was once again impressed by CDPR’s attention to detail.
Would've been cool to give gaitan a similar option to letho and send him to Kaer Morhen and have him help fight the wild Hunt...
I can understand why Gaetan lost his cool in the village. Witchers are hardly considered as heroes like they once were when the threat of monsters was much higher after the Conjunction of Spheres and they were the only ones capable of dealing with them. Witchers walk a thin line between being seen as freaks to be burned at the stake or a necessary evil, barely tolerated as long as they still do their job.
I let him live. The world deserve the misery it creates; y’know “we live in a society...” thing, innocents or not let them drown in their filth.
@Stone Heart the problem is in witcher 3 humans are scum most of the time. They look at witchers the wrong way, spit in your direction and treat you like trash. That's why for a long time Garelt had trouble dealing with humans.
@Stone Heart I viewed it differently the quest I had done before this one they tried to stiff me the pay called me a freak for demanding what we agreed upon so after hearing what the villagers did to him I couldnt help but sympathize

I love the cats swords. the bleeding lets you kill any moster. defenetly one of the best sword buffs
I never really bothered looking but if you can get a golem poisoned or make it bleed it would be pretty stupid.. i like however, the fact that they take wayy less damage compared to rest of the mosters, and you literally gotta beat him down with your sword.
the school of cat armor is my favorite for the appearance and the fact that your stamina regenerates faster, comes in handy when your using a magic build
If the Witchers die out humanity is screwed because monsters will overrun the world.
Good point, even though the monsters are few in number, without witchers it is possible that they would be able to breed and once again over run the world (I doubt the witch hunters are capable enough to deal with them).
WitcherGeorge a lot of monsters can be killed only by witchers. common humans cannot kill bruxa and so on.
i dont now if vampires reproduce so mass of soldiers with silver swords and mage per squad, i thik they can get rid of them
knights like sigfried ect. kill monsters so... i dont think that be problem.
Overrun the world? i doubt it. But i think witchers are like hunters: it is important that they take down some monsters who are dangerous for human settlements or destroy some Nekker-nests from time to time. If that didn't happen regularly it could be a threat to some small villages, maybe even a town. But to humanity in general? No, there are simply too much humans.

Agreed. Also the tone of blue for their armor is my favorite color. I basically played the whole game with the upgraded armor
I liked it untill the grandmaster cat gear added that stupid hood. Instantly replaced it with the ursine armor.

The village that attacked gaeton had quite a lot of coin (remarked by geralt) so they didnt want to pay him for the work he did so the village got what was coming for them
there are two more cat school witchers mentioned in wild hunt,Aiden and Jad Karadin.you can even meet jad with lambert

Why?
Because before the witcher3 patch. Pre DLC, You could put attack runes in the armor to make it the highest DPS armor in game.
So basically I have a Mastercrafted Cat school armor filled with attack gems lmao.

But are they really quicker than Geralt? Wasn't Geralt given experimental mutagens, because he held up so well through the trial of the grasses? Isn't it that, because of that, he's more or less the fastest known witcher? Not to mention Geralt wears all kinds of armor, not just the specific Wolven or Kaer Morhen ones. Not only could Geralt possibly have been faster than Feline witchers in his medium Wolven armor, but he could also put light armor on and beat the in that regard for sure :D
Also, in The Witcher 3, I think Ciri actually takes Vesemir's wolven medalion at his funeral, which is then the one the last crone steals from her...
It's mainly the way Geralt was taught to fight, these witchers are trained with light weapons and speed almost exclusively (making them much quicker), perhaps he could surpass them, but not yet!
Lol your still wrong about this. Have you read the books? Geralt is unique, an abnormality amoungst the abnormal
NoobPanda I don’t think any school of Witcher is inherently quicker or slower. I think it’s more about the technique and armor they employ.
The armor thing is more of a gameplay element, honestly. In real life a heavy armor would maybe tire you out faster but it doesn't mess with your maneuverability
Geralt stands alone as a Witcher the extra mutations makes him far superior.
I know it'll probably never happen but every school having a specialisation and the fact that female Witchers are possible would be grounds for a great game. If it was set a few hundred years before the start of Geralts time when Witchers (and more and varied monsters) were a lot more common. Character creation and allowing you to choose a school to hail from. Hope we get something like that someday.
Are female witchers possible? If I remember correctly none survived the trials. Ciri is elder blood and she didn’t go through Witcher mutations like the rest of the Witchers did
I think it was in the lore that women wont survive the trial of grasses
Never compare Geralt to any other witcher. He's on a different league altogether. He can also beat Ciri with her teleportation, because his reflexes will help him see the incoming moves.
Cat armor has to be the best armor because if you're good enough, you can dodge many attacks and deal great damage, making you almost invincible (with quen as backup).
Also, I wonder if there is a School of the Tiger. That would be epic.

School of the tiger could be a martial arts based Witcher school
School of the fox could be deception speed stealth and tool usage
I came up with a couple base ideas myself
School of the kraken for navel/amphibious monsters
School of the lion that is comprised of Nobel sons and or soldiers children and focus on diplomacy art body guarding and military operations
School of the eagle specs into ranged combat
School of the turtle is shield and heavy armor
School of the dragon is explosives fire magic and guns
School of the bull is essentially Viking baserkers
School of the deer protects elves and adopts thier tactics and culture

I always thought the Witchers were trained to DEAL with monsters, not just straight up merc them for coin.
There's a line from Geralt about how Humans tend to see monsters as intrinsically evil, hence their fear of them and response of aggression.
Witchers, specifically the Wolf School however, know enough about specific monsters to deal with them through other means. Banishing a wayward spirit, breaking a curse...even just talking to the monster if it has the ability to communicate.
I think the Cat school, like its fast, agile fighting style, concentrated more on fast coin. Preferring, with both monsters and humans, to end the issue in the quickest way possible so as go move on to the next job and, thus, more coin.
It would be really interesting to find out about other schools and how they work. I'd love to see an exiled Witcher who is exclusively from their own school that they formed after being kicked out of one of the others. Or a School of The Harpy that is a small sect of nomadic female Witchers or something.
I ened up using full cat gear. I played far above my level, and found myself a 1 hit anyway in most fights, and I become a proficient Dodger. The cat gear really increased my already used combat style, and I mained it for the rest of the game

My main reason for killing Gaetan is, if you go to his hideout, there's a wall full of trophies, and Geralt remarks upon it, indicating that what Gaetan did in Honourton was not an isolated incident, but had happened repeatedly. Once is questionable, dozens of times is the sign of a murderer
You shouldn't have done it, they derseved to die after tricking the witcher who was risking his life for their safety.

Ciri's stat bar is School of the Cat. Given this is not merely something she wears but a statement of ability, it's proof that Ciri is somehow a member of that School.
She's not, but I think the cat medallion is her medallion (as she got it from bonhart, I won't spoil the books for you)
It's also probably referencing her as the "Lion cub of Cintra"
love the lore videos!! Cat School armor is my fave and also live their fighting technique based on speed and agility over all else, interesting background of this school. I didn't know it was founded by basically banished witchers. shame they turned assassins

I love cat school because they amped emotion in college I wrote a spin off that took place after witcher 3 where the second conjunction happened ciri prevented a massive conjunction but more unknown monsters appeared so witcher were made again the character was a cat who came from Toussaint and he upheld the virtues so he had all the same mutations but had his own code like geralt did
The medalion that Ciri has during the Witcher 3 is Vesemir's. After killing Imlerith she says "Damn, I killed 2 of the crones, the other ran away. She stole my medalion. My last memento from Vesemir!"
Hey +WitcherGeorge ! I just recently found something that you didn't mention in this video. As I was going for the cat school gear upgrades on my most recent playthrough of W3, I found a journal from a mage who tortured a Cat school witcher in the catacombs beneath Temple Isle (Novigrad, Steel Sword Upgrade IIRC). In this Journal the mage states that, opposite to the other schools, the majority of the Cat School's recruits were Elves. I'll try to reload a save and get a screengrab of the journal and send it to you here or on Twitter. Keep up your videos, cheers!

Amazing video. Got to ask what was the music you used at the very start?
Next witcher should be Witcher: The Path. Where you pick between school, age up thru tutorials, and set off on the Path. Set up 300-500 years before Witcher 1. Keep the same rpg system in place from 3, and add the entire continent to the playing field. Learn sword techniques from different regions, more signs/learn from mages. Possibly more mounts i.e. axii'd griffin/wyverns or bear.

Not sure if its new lore but the gwent game entails they weren't always crazy and that when they tried to change up the mutagens they created emotionally unstable witchers and the crazy ones took over the school. But even so it seems like they were always mercenaries and assassins but not mass murderers like some of the younger cat witchers

The black sheeps of the Witchers, their personal jobs only worsened even more the public opinion about the Witchers in general, although at least they are officially canon, except for what is mentioned in the games, about the Witchers of the School of the Cat accepting women as possible witcher candidates, as well as the non-canon members mentioned in the games which are "Aiden, Axel, Cedric, Gaetan, Jad Karadin, Joël, Kiyan, Schrödinger, & Lexandre". 😠😠😠

you should do a background video on the cat. through out the witcher 3 wild hunt and blood and wine there is a specific cat that always shows up. such as when you go to Oxenford to talk to the Bloody Baron's daughter. at the bank in toussaint (i forget the mission. you go to the bank to get your coin and the records say youre dead and you have to get some forms). white orchard. its the same cat and geralt and the cat always make eye contact as it geralt knows something is about to happen, i expect the cat to transform into something else.
For me the school of the Wolf and the school of the Cat are the best looking armours
The statistics aren’t clear for melee weapons but a research project by the us army found that the available rounds on a side almost always determined who would win in a conflict. So yea, dps for the win!
Sorry to say this but Bonhart wasn't a witcher, he was human. The medallion that was stolen from Ciri by the crones was the one she took from Vesimir not the one she took from Bonhart.

Geralt did not lost control in Blaviken. He did not murder civilians. He killed several bandits. The only problem was, he did on a market place, many people saw it and spred the name. Thats not the same what that cat witcher did.

The medallion that Ceri has is actually wolf medallion that she took from Vesemir before they burned him after the battle at Ker Mohen with the hunters.
Vesemir’s was later taken by the living crone but she did have a school of the cat medallion from the books taken from bonhart as said in the video.

That's neither true or possible. Woman can't go through the mutations that witchers go through, because their bodies aren't strong enough for that. Thus makes it impossible for women to join witcher schools. As for Elves i haven't heard of any elven witcher but it could happen.

Have you noticed anywhere iff elf witchers were also made? I seem to remember finding a corps of an ef witcher while searching for cat scool gear upgrades.
From what I know there were never any elf witchers. Only humans were taken to be mutated, so I doubt what you found was an elf.
Actually they indeed take other species and female as well.

Also I remember in the games it being mentioned they don't take females because their bodies were never able to survive the trials. You are right in the games theres only male humans that are Witchers, in the books actually theres only humans male witchers as well but the manticore school and Cat of the school they indeed took female elf apprentices trying to create a mage she-witchers this is mention by the Lady of the Lake in the book Lady of the lake, but it was a failure because the females couldn't handle the transformations and the nonhuman genetics for some reason are hostiles toward the mutations.In the book blood of elves this is briefly mention.

I know I'm a little late, but the amulet taken by the crones is actually vesamir's. ciri takes it after he dies, and loses it to the weavess I think.

I'll be completely honest, I executed The Beast of Honorton without a second thought. No hearing him out, no "giving him Swallow". Just a few parries and some Igni to lay him down.
Did you inspect every body. He left woman to bleed out, tore men apart at the bloody join with neither mercy nor hesitation. They were innocent. You cannot condemn them all based on the actions of a few, and even those very actions were done in the belief of the just, killing a beast to save from starving a whole village of sparse coin.
Geralt may have lain waste to Blaviken, but that was a riot of men, hearts clouded and fists bloody with in-human blood. Honorton had no riots, no massacres. Now it hasn't a soul left breathing spare a single child, though still without parents or siblings left away from the slaughter. The Cat houses assassin's and mutant defects alike. Putting one down when his years age near a century is nothing worthy of the word "traitor".

comparing what Geralt did in Blaviken to what this guy did is so unfair, geralt killed a bunch of goons for a good reason(to an onlooker it seemed horrifying, but it was to save lives) this guy slaughtered an ENTIRE VILLAGE down to the last child who he ONLY spared because she looked like his sister. And Geralt even guessed that this wasn’t his first time doing this. Letting this guy live is begging for this to happen again.
They tricked him that's why , he didn't go around randomly killing people. He did a job for them, they refused to pay so he killed them all in anger.

With CD Project Red announcing via a statement that their next main game after Cyberpunk: 2077 would be a title set in the Witcher universe. And my guess it'll be a game with the main protagonist is a CaW or Create-A-Witcher and since the games are set in alternate universe different from the books/Netflix show as this could be a way to have the idea female witchers be canon. And I would have my female CaW's choice of school be the School of the Cat not only do I love the swift, and agile fighting style but I'm also intrigued by how the School of the Cat was the only school willing to accept female applicants.
