I feel like a lot of Killing Voices usually just the artist “greatest hits” + their debut. And usually shows a collection of songs from their whole career. (+ just a few b-sides). Ateez have always been rrly hype with their title tracks and are known for their performances above all. I think the only artist who didn’t really do that are NCT127 (I think their was a voting thing and they picked a bunch of vocal heavy b-sides to preform too) and Taemin (I think he chose to go for more vocal heavy songs). So it definitely makes sense they preformed all their popular songs even if they don’t suit the “performing still” way killing verses are preformed.

23:38 I think for ATEEZ’s line distribution- the vocal members all go in and record the whole thing, and then the producers pick who they think delivered certain lines better. So they kind of “compete for parts”. I dont know if it’s different if Hongjoong produces it, but he’s usually a co-producer so I assume it’s similar but he gets a say maybe? The only exception I think would be Jongho- because it’s pretty clear to tell what parts in ATEEZ’s songs are meant for him, as well as him being their main vocal and consistently getting the most difficult/powerful vocal parts. I think line distribution is always kinda tricky because there’s a lot of factors. Also the killing voice is only small parts of every song, for example most of Mingi’s verses were in this killing voice but not Hongjoong’s, even though their both 50/50 with the rap parts. (With Bouncy as an exception because Seonghwa got a rap verse and Hongjoong did the chorus). So it’s not that representative of how many lines each person usually gets. Also since Ateez is 6 vocalists and 2 rappers, with not very vocal heavy title tracks, I see why some of the members may end up getting less lines.

We assumed that was the case but honestly it doesn’t seem to be. Based on their recording behind the scenes and other things said recently, their line distribution seems really unfair. And Jongho usually gets a lot of the vocal parts, not bc he’s the only one who can sing it, but bc Eden frankly just has favoritism. And it leads to the rest barely getting to show their range and Jongho constantly being left w so many high notes that it’s a wonder ago that he hasn’t seriously hurt his throat. Jongho also doesn’t get to show his range, it’s very rare he gets any chance to show a lower part or to have a song where he’s not belting like he always is when he has the potential do sm more. A majority of their discography has him doing the same type of role. He already gets the short end styling wise,
The others jokingly have asked HJ for more lines in content, but Hj actually doesn’t get to choose, at least not the majority. If he did, I’m sure it would be more even. Eden primarily gets to choose even if HJ is the one who writes, and though they do compete for part sometimes it seems like they go into it w Eden/his team already knowing who will get what, bc the types of parts they get doesn’t really change, ever. In the work recording, we didn’t even get to see YS sing any part outside of his own rlly and his part in work is the same kind he ALWAYS gets. I don’t believe for a sec he was ever going to have more than that. In a nearly 30 min video, he got less than 2 mins of screen time. And his actual lines the entire album amount to much less than that
Yeosang and Woo get the least amount is a majority of their discography and sometimes they get basically none. I get what ur saying when it comes to killing vers being tricky bc it’s not the full song, but even if they did the full songs, the feeling would be the same 😭if not worse. Yeosang and Woo have voiced seriously wanting more lines. And right now there’s a lot of discussion among atinys about how the two have voiced this so many times, and so has atiny, yet nothing has changed.
Eden has become enemy #1 among atiny rn😭bc once that recent recording behind the scenes dropped, it rlly just showed the issue. Bc the only time YS gets more than a few secs to shine when he’s alone like in his covers and it just makes no sense. Bc frankly vocal parts can easily be swapped out among the vocals and YS has a good range. Even in their lower songs, where he would excel bc his voice is naturally deeper, he gets nothing. This album is especially egregious. But it seems to only be worse w every release w Jongho primarily having the most parts and being rlly the only vocal who gets to have killing parts. The rest mainly have shared parts or choruses. This puts a lot of strain on him and I worry about his health and throat because those constant high notes is not good for him. Especially back to back like in a concert.

@@sleepytoons2155I didn’t know! I have seen all the recent Eden hate tho, but I didn’t know why. Also regarding Jongho’s voice, I have seen a lot of people point out that his Technique has gotten a lot better and he’s rrly consistent live! Tbh he IS the main vocal so it makes sense he would receive the most parts. But it is true most of his parts are belting. Also I could’ve sworn I saw a behind the scenes clip where Seonghwa mentioned recording thru the whole song/competing for parts 😭 idk which one tho, so it’s possible I may be wrong.

@@lightningdoughnut4880 Yeah it’s a thing to try out diff parts, but w Ateez it doesn’t seem to actually happen as much. Edenary/Eden have majority control over who gets what parts. I do think his technique has also improved but technique actually isn’t everything and even the best can end up hurting their vocals or throats. And yes he’s the main vocal but in Work for example, w the part distribution, almost 30% of the vocals is Jongho😭.
With Crazy Form it’s around 25%.
Bouncy is an exception bc in that song Joong has majority, but then w Guerilla about 42% of the parts within the song are Jongho😭
      Halazia is also around 40%
W the rest of the members, due to repetitions of parts and backing things it can be a mixed bag but for the majority of songs, Jongho has the vast majority of parts when it could easily be spread more evenly. And in the past I think it was more subtle but in recent years it’s kinda insane. I think within the entire album, Woo has less than a minute of lines😭 so I think all of this is why people have been discussing it more and the recording video made ppl more annoyed bc even within a recording video YS doesn’t get much screen time😭
Rather than being treated like a main vocal, it feels like Jongho has treated as like the only vocal. Bc in a group w 8 people, it’s kinda crazy for on average one member to get 35-40% of the lines. I think it would be less of an issue if it wasn’t the majority of the time or if they compensated w screen time but they don’t w Ateez. If you don’t have many lines, you will barely appear in their music videos and the killing voice just amplified that tbh bc it’s not like there’s a lot going on😭

@@sleepytoons2155I think the fans care about the line distribution more than the members themselves. Fair line distribution doesn't mean equal for all 8 members, it means give parts to all according to their positions and choose whose parts are better suit for a good song. Ateez music is known for Jongho's strong vocals, it would be silly to completely abandon their main strength.
Fans don’t trust the producers, don’t trust the members and their work, when they, like no one else, know all the nuances of their voices. I believe the members can take care of their work themselves, they're adults and professionals, and I never saw them were so uncomfortable with Eden or accidentally dropped suspicious words towards. Fan interference and hate towards producers won't change anything, but only force them to stop sharing their recording process.
You say that Yeo & Woo voiced about more lines, but hasn't that changed since debut? They might get less than the other members, but isn't that more compared to the first albums? Yeosang for example got more in Dune, Crazy form, We know, Emergency, Arriba, Siren, but it cannot be the same in every song/album, and cannot be more than main/lead vocalists, rappers.
About his 2 min screentime in recording video, he was uncomfortable: he didn't look at the camera even once, covered his face several times, his movements were more constrained than the members. This is their first such video; they weren't ready before, don't used to sharing something so private from their daily life. Perhaps if there's a similar video in the future, he'll be more confident and shown more in the video.
Edit: and I'm not saying that everything is perfect, and there's nothing to improve and work on, but this is not a catastrophic or mistreatment situation as the fans present it.

@@Ansi_Rev this feels like a long winded way to just say u don’t agree or don’t care lol. And it’s fine if u don’t, but y’all are giving producers that you simply do not know, more benefit of the doubt than they’ve earned, bc keep in mind this is the same man who admitted to wanting to get Joong to quit predebut because HE didn’t want to help him. What has Eden done for y’all to refuse to believe the possibility that he has favoritism? And honestly is it rlly that much of an improvement went Yeo went less than 4 secs in a song (Treasure was 1,7 and Pirate King was 3.1) to (on average) 8-10 secs?
It seems like fans care more bc we are the ones who can actually voice our opinions loudly and openly. Do you seriously think Ateez would ever voice any issues or frustration with their team? To Us? We are not their friends and ur naive if u think on screen interactions defines what actually goes on in the studio. And do you really think the only reason Yeo was shown less was because they were recording the session and he was uncomfy bc of THAT? When recording sessions in the studio and in dance practice is common practice? He literally just didn’t have anything else to show 😭can’t be on screen when u have barely anything to sing,
I truly don’t feel like getting into a tense discussion but most of ur reply is just excusing what is actually ridiculous line distribution and screen time distribution, no one even said abandon Jongho, but u do realize Ateez has more than one vocalist right? It makes no sense for ONE vocalist to have nearly 50% of the lines in a song lol. Obviously this isn’t Jongho’s fault, but ur delulu if u think main vocal means this. ATP why even have so many vocals if you think the rest deserve only scraps?
People like u also seem to interpret any critique is just us being dramatic while ignoring everything actually going on. Like the things u said about Jongho also just make it seem like you also don’t think the rest of the vocals in the group are good enough to have more parts and I hope in the future, u think more about ur wording.
I’m going to leave it at this, but i need y’all to stop seeing the ppl at KQ as saints by default bc the bar is literally in hell😭YS getting more than 10 secs in a song or more than 10 secs on screen total, should not be a rarity or something to cheer about. But it is. I’m not looking to go back and forth so don’t expect me to reply to you again, I’ve said all I’ve needed to say in the comment thread 🫶🏽anyways I hope one day Edenary team actually supports all the voices in Ateez and not just Jongho🥴
Edit: sorry if I come across as super blunt or aggressive but frankly I’m just sick of ppl doing anything to excuse the Edenary team when they’ve done nothing to deserve it. Bc it’s giving that ppl care more about atiny disliking them, critiquing them or “accusing” them than any of the reason WHY we feel this way. It’s giving company stan rather than Ateez stan and I’m just tired of it. It will never make sense to me why ppl think that entire team are saints when from the start Eden has shown he has the potential to be cruel. It’s one thing for Joong to forgive him or excuse him but another for y’all to.
