  • Today on Buckle Up Harry drives the Kia EV6, a swoopy coupe-like family hatchback-cum-crossover. It's certainly very stylish and we know its BEV underpinnings are solid, but what is it like to live with and is it worth it's asking price?
    Up against cats such as Volkswagen ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron, BMW iX3, Mercedes EQC, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Subaru Solterra, Ford Mach-e, Volvo C40, Toyota Bz4x, Skoda Enyak, Lexus RZ, Tesla Model Y, Nissan Ariya, Renault Megane e-tech.

    Just to enlighten you the new logo does not say KN it says KIA also if you get the RWD car, the frunk is a nice 52 Litres of space

      Ah yes definitely enlightened, that is brand new information.
      52 litres is still very wee, have you managed to fit your charging cables in?

      I fit my Level 1 charger, a 4m type 2 to type 2 cable, type 1 adapter, 20m 15amp extension cord, V2L adapter, tyre repair kit, 12v battery booster, some rags, tie-down straps, and some bits for my spare wheel, all in the 52L RWD frunk. So I don't have to keep anything loose in the back.

      With 52 Litres probably fit charge cable about four times over as it is a box shape not that waste of time as you said with the AWD froot

    So, I really appreciate your reviews, but I think you should reinvestigate the efficiency of Kia's heat pump.
    There are several CZcamsrs who made comparisons with Kia, both with and without the heat pumps, and it did not make any significant difference to justify paying £900 additionally. I guess it will make a bit of a difference if you are living in the extreme Scottish Highlands, but other parts of the UK will not benefit from it.

    When driving put the camera on to see out the back.

      That will work great unless it rains, you've driven through mud in the last week or you live in a part of the world where they salt the roads
      Also there are plenty of cars that offer rear view mirrors that do that but they position their rear camera in a much better location for it both for the view and for keeping the lens clean

    GT line, but no elektric door handles. It boggles me how different countries get WILDLY different specs. I get the elektric door handles but i dont have the GT spec because i wanted to have the gravity blue collour. TBH the AWD is wildly overrated. sure yes you get more straight line punch but as a car guy i got this car for daily driving. 220 Electric horsepower is fast enough for most if not all people.

      Once more, no airconditioned seats, what kind of GT-line is this? I am ENDLESSLY jealouse of the physical buttons for seat warmers. mine will come with capacitive buttons, during the testdrive alone i accidentally heated my bum twice.

      Which market are you in?

  • @WestonMike

    "Trunk" is the Americanism for the British car's Boot. Therefore a "frunk" is American for "Froot"!
    Needless to say I dislike Americanisms relentlessly, and insidiously creeping into the English language. 😁

      @BuckleUpShow  Před 9 měsíci

      Well technically "boot" comes from the "boot locker" underneath the coachman's feet where he would keep his belongings, where as the "trunk" would be on the back of the coach with the occupants belongings, so maybe the front one should just be the boot and the back on the trunk (as we also called them trunks when they were for travelling, taking Nellie the elephant as an example) and then we have no more stupid compound words
