A beautiful unique rendition of the song. I love Joes version. I think he was too young to win the X Factor altho he had the best voice of all. I also think Simon Cowell who can’t sing a note himself, uses these young talents and then throws them under the bus. It’s sad for these young talented people who are made promises and then instantly discarded. Anyway I think Joe has a promising career ahead of him. @GAmazon I just listened to Eva Cassidy's recording of "Over the Rainbow and it sounds nothing like this at all. From the guitar played to sound like a ukelele and the bongos this is the IZ arrangement. I enjoy Joe McElderry's version and voice, but it still doesn't come close to matching the emotional pathos that Brudda IZ achieved.

This arrangement was originally done by a young Hawaiian lad who has since passed several years ago and then about 5 yrs ago a young man on Americn Idol did this arrangement while playing a Ukelele and actually got a standing o and great comments form SIMON. Joe please cross the big pond and come to the US because you are great.

She has many songs and albums she recorded before she lost her fight with cancer and passed in 1996. She was considered one of the original crossover artists from blues to folk music to pop. Just ask Paul McCartney or Eric Clapton. Just two of her many celebrity fans. Have a listen to her hit Fields of Gold. Eva is sorely missed in the musical world.
