  • The Museum of the History of the Inquisition offers the public a library with over 350 works, consisting of a collection of rare and old books on the Inquisition dating from 1637 and other source documents prior to this date. The museum also has a mini-auditorium with multimedia resources where movies and documents about the period of the Inquisition will be shown, besides the exhibition of photos, pictures, texts and small objects from the period. There will also be available a database for research on the history and origin of the Jewish people as one of the settlers as colonizers of Brazil, collecting and listing the names and surnames of these important Jewish settlers, many of whom were convicted and executed by the Inquisition. Besides the exhibition of objects and ancient documents, the museum displays costumes of the time and a piece of a Torah (Pentateuch) Scroll that survived the inquisitorial persecution in Spain, being still used for many years by Sephardic Jews during the Middle Ages.
