People come to Canobie Lake Park for the rides, shows, and attractions but I come for the arcade games. If there is any empty space in this park, chances are it is filled with an arcade game so today we are going to wander around Canobie Lake Park and check out the top five best arcades and game rooms. Along the way we will see some classic arcade games like X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom, Ms.Pac Man and the weirdest Galaga I have ever seen. We also had the chance to play the world's largest pinball machine, Hercules by Atari.

Unfortunately, a major problem with keeping old arcade machines running is the CRT monitor. They break down and need periodic maintenance. The last CRT monitor factory closed in 2008. That's 14 years ago. So no company makes new CRT tubes anymore.
Yeah those CRT monitors are a pain the behind!!

When I worked there in the 60's I dragged home a Williams baseball machine with the animated baseball players. 1951.
The last non multiplayer Gottlieb Harbor Lights 1956. Multiplayer were dumbed down as they could not save players scores to next game.
Also Bally 6 player bowling machines. Still have my Canobie machines.

Salem Willows in Salem , Ma. has some awesome classic games , Pinball , And some vintage pinball. Also , When in Salem visit the Bit Bar. It's a restaurant in the former old Salem jail. They only have classic arcade and pinball games.

I used to go to Conobie Lake Park back in the 80s and 90s and would spend most the day playing Dragon's Lair. The Hercules Pinball used to be front and center in the middle of the entrance of the Bear Lodge. The Pinball parlor used to have all the casino games. I remember the 6 player X Men being in the Palace Arcade. Thanks for the memories.

As much as I love the canobie arcade, you should try the willows arcade in Salem, a nice place to go for food and relaxation with an arcade!
Someone else recommended that place so it must be pretty cool. I’ll have to check it out some time 😃

hi Ben! i actually work in the games department at canobie! i’ve worked with these games for a while now, and i can explain the galaga!!! it’s actually just a graphics issue - it’s an old machine, so though it still functions normally, the images appear as squares. sorry if that’s a boring answer lol, my manager likes to call it Blocktaga sometimes. nothing modded, no secret levels, just an old machine with graphic issues. :) hope this helps

I believe that Galaga game is messed up, as the sprites may be corrupted and looks like blocks. Yea it’s playable it’s just the sprites are screwed up.
