Season 1 focuses on Chise discovering her self-worth and gaining the strength to protect and defend herself, realizing that she deserves the same love she freely gives to others. In Season 2, she learns to harness and direct that strength in a way that isn’t self-sacrificing but instead empowers others to find their own strength, just as she did in the first season. The writing is brilliant, and I love every bit of this anime, from the deep characterization of each individual to how their relationships intertwine, forming a complex web that allows the plot to flow smoothly and meaningfully. The way they weave mythology into the story is fantastic, and the breathtaking animation brings it all to life. This is a top-tier anime, and I really hope they continue with it all the way to the end of the story.

@TheNoskoTapki I highly recommend it regardless, I feel like that's actually one of the biggest strengths of this show. At least in my experience, the relatability I feel with Chise helps me to recontextualize a lot of my own real-life issues, and the show provides a lot of different ways of thinking about everything which I find to be extremely helpful for someone like me who tends to get lost in my own thoughts a lot of the time, a lot of times I find the different perspectives to be really helpful.
There's a bit of ludo-narrative dissonance with The Ancient Magus Bride because the story keeps saying that Chise should stop being so reckless because it could have fatal consequences, but we, the audience, know that everything's going to work out in the end since she's the main character. Still one of my more well-liked shows though.
I totally get where your coming from but I feel like a certain suspension of disbelief is required to appreciate stories like this. Plus, after watching Akame Ga Kill and Jujutsu Kaisen my faith in plot armor is diminished lol
