I wanted to explain something in regards to RM and the situation you mentioned where you would have wanted him to punch that guy that was bad mouthing them. Believe me, ARMY's all wanted him to, but that would not have been possible. RM is in a position of leader in the group, and in that meeting/interview, he is also the junior to the other rappers in the interview, those are his elder peers. I think that RM handled it perfectly. He diffused the situation by turning it back on them and saying that they can feel that way if they want. That is actually the best way he could have handled it. Other ARMY's were also present at that interview. RM could not have disrespected them, especially on air, because they are his seniors. I think the interviewers and rappers in the room were cowards for targeting a newly debuted group of "kids". They didn't just say SUGA and RM, they said Bangtan Sonyeondan. They were dissing the whole group. BTS were ages 15 to 20 on debut, and this was about a year into their journey. The best way to get back was to send them a message through their work. The rappers and interviewers in the room hadn't even listened to their work, and they calling it trash, not real hip hop, and accusing them of not writing their own rap lyrics. Anyway, it's a painful moment in their journey, and RM and SUGA both wrote tracks to deal with it in their mixtapes. I can link you specific songs that they did. Of course there are the Cyphers 1-4, but here are a few songs that address their haters, and BTS songs.

the radio interview u mentioned actually made suga and rm look like the bigger men. first of all the interviewers came off as arrogant bullys, also rm outed a few of them revealing that actually they had also auditioned for big hit but didn't make the cut and bts got the last laugh because not only did the bullys apologize after receiving backlash but bts wrote some of their biggest hits after this (and similar encounters) and further fuelled their success.
I appreciate all that but I am still 1000% behind him smacking them. 😂😂

I like their explanation of historical references, but I need to disagree with some things that was said in this video.
First, Yoongi himself said that blond mad king is AgustD from his first mixtape.
AgustD first mixtape was full of anger, pain and greed. He said in that mixtape that he is afraid that he is becoming a monster. That he wants more and more. He was so troubled and wounded at that time. He wanted money, fame and recognition and this greed could potentially changed him as a person, making him to forget his roots.
So, mad king in Daechwita is that wounded greedy beast from first mixtape. He took what he wanted. And he doesn't care about anyone anymore. Those who was supposed to be HIS people (his fans) are kneeling before him in fear and he doesn't care about them, stepping on them and beheading those who try to complain.
Black haired AgustD is this side of him which stayed grounded and humble. BTS and ARMY (six men and a woman in that one scene) helped him not to loose himself by being by his side. He befriends lower class people who considered underdogs (like butcher who's also an executor), people kneeling before mad king (ARMY) are headbanging with black haired AgustD. Instead of ruling, he is on the same level with them.
So he shoots his past dark self to be someone better. But did mad violent king actually died? Who knows.
And second. Considered what I previously said (based on what Yoongi said himself), I don't think that all what AgustD said alongside with that "HYUNTA" line was reminder to the system. He said he was greedy (wanted money, clothes, fame) and now he has all material things he wished all his life and now he understands that all these things not really satisfying him, that having all this somehow disappointing and now he understands that it's very important to stay humble and down to earth (put my feet on the ground).
So this is again constant battle with his dark side to stay descent person and be realistic and not consuming by all this fame and money. Yoongi loves to explore this theme, Daechwita is not the only song he brings this up. I think Interlude: Shadow is a good example of this, where he realises that this dark side is part of him he would never be able to get rid of and that it would be better to accept it and learn how to live with it.
I do think it would be good to bear in mind that Interlude Shadow is part of the BTS themed music, whereas Daechwita is his own music. Yes, it might have a bearing but I think their own music is the best place to really rely on when figuring out what they're trying to say. Not to negate your comment, but just to keep this in mind. I think any successful artist would go through this, but it's great that he is thinking about it and trying to remain himself. Temptations will always come our way, it's how we deal with them that matters. I think this is were the relationship between Army & BTS is so special and important. They remain relevant to Army's although a lot of us will never understand exactly what it's like to be in their shoes, but they care enough to keep a check and balance and Army helps them do so.
I agree Volha. In "Magic Shop" he said the greed that had fueled his rise became a leash that choked him. Also the hangul print above the doorway in the scene where ARMY gives him the jade key is a Confucian quote that, paraphrasing, a scholar doesn't crave riches.

I think it’s really important to remember that this explanation video was made and released before the behind the scenes video where SUGA explained his meaning of the music video. I see so many people commenting that DKDKTV was wrong, but they were doing a speculation about the interpretation of the MV. Just like other channels did at the time. Until Yoongi himself explained what it meant, I could have meant anything.
@@jillgoth7299 oh, I understand this. But reactors don't know about this and and rarely watch behind the scenes video. Well, DKDKTV is very good source of information, so I don't blame anyone new for not questioning their explanation of Daechwita (and this is a very good explanation without having a context from Yoongi himself). I just wanted to bring up the fact that while their explanation is very detailed and deep, it's not completely correct in that particular case.
Another interesting possibility that another Korean reactor pointed out was, the bottom class SUGA could possibly be the hidden twin of the King SUGA. He said that in order to get the key that SUGA gets in the beginning, you had to have royal blood. So he's been hiding with the lower class, gaining support from the people to take over the thrown from the tyrant King. I found that so interesting as well. This is so like Yoongi to get so deep with his story telling. A genius imo 💜

It's such a shame that Rise of Bangtan was removed from CZcams (hopefully the officially documentary that Hybe and Disney are preparing is just as good) because it really takes you through BTS's history from the very beginning through their own words. One thing a few reactors used to do that was awesome was to go chronologically through the albums while watching Rise of Bangtan episodes that were contemporary to those releases. I think the only way to see them now is if someone were to rip them from another reactor's vids and save them on Google Drive or something. 😔
They started out as the under dogs in Korea, and it was until around 2017 to 2018 that they started blowing up the way they are now. Dynamite from 2020 was the first time they had a #1 song on the Billboard Hot 100, and even though they were fairly well known and liked internationally before 2017, the Korean media and entertainment complex are still doing their best to downplay and ignore BTS to this day (because none of the companies that own news agencies can make any money off of BTS since they're owned by Hybe).
An army shared the saved episodes on her google drive on twitter. Don't remember now, but I saved them too (for my own consumption, of course, not to give out to reactors or to be shared publicly as that's what she probably doesn't want) ^^UUUU

DKDKTV is good for explanation about Korean cultural references and Korean wordplay. But when it comes to interpreting other things, like the symbolism of the blond Agust D or some things in RM's "Persona", I think sometimes they can be off the mark.
Yup. They’re not the best when it comes to literary and visual analysis. I rely on Bookish Theories for that kind of stuff. She’s awesome and notices so many minute details.

They cannot/couldn't say anything DIRECTLY. They are Korean, the person talking is 10 years their senior (in general, as a person and as an artist). It would be completely uncalled for EVEN if they are right. That's why they have clever ways.
I think you haven't seen the full thing either to see how they respond. Which shows they were waaaaaaaaaaay more mature than any 18-20 yo I have ever known.

The Y in hyunta is not silent, just quick. It's spelled with a ㅕ (yeo) rather than a ㅓ(eo). The sound is somewhere between an "oh" and and “ah". When BTS says Jhope's name (Hoseok) it sounds almost like 'hoe sock' to my ears.

I personally read this line as something along the line of ‘I’ve achieved everything and there’s nothing above me. Now what?,’ NOT related to the literal origin of the word (1).
With all the explanation videos, I just take the cultural or historical references, the other musical interpretation is just that, interpretation 🤣

People are having you look from recent to past. The journey is important to understand the hurdles they went through including their lyrics that talks about a lot of this. Take note of the dates to figure out the timeline. A lot of things happen, and music came back as a response. In S.Korea, they have to do what their elders or authority figures say and stay quiet while taking their criticism or they would shame their family and become outcasts. They have to put up with it. Which is also the hard place they are in with the gov trying to use and make money off of them, the SK version of Trump.
That’s mad to me as an American. These systems are ones I know I would have a big issue dealing with if it was me.

In Korean culture, hierarchy is one of the most important aspects of our society. Hierarchy and honorifics are what drive our systems and norms in Eastern society. You are entitled to your own opinions. But, saying an eastern culture's ways "should be that simple" is wrong and close-minded. Your western mindset should be more respectful and open-minded to the eastern mindset's culture and norms.
