Why being UNHINGED is never a good thing!

  • In this video I will be talking about a pretty controversial topic, and that is hinging the club in the backswing. You can love it, you can hate it, but you can't argue with the efficiency it brings into the golf swing.
    If you still feel like arguing, lets hear it in the comments below! LOL

    Hey Golfers, great to have you here! Let me tell you a little bit about myself.
    My golf career is marked by a trajectory from a skilled amateur to a seasoned professional, competing on the LPGA/SYMETRA Tour. During my amateur days, I attended IMG Academies, training under the close guidance of the world's best Leadbetter instructors. I continued to thrive while playing Division 1 golf at the University of Central Florida, holding the captain's title throughout my senior year. After finishing my college career, I went straight to LPGA Q-school, where I secured my tour card for the LPGA/SYMETRA Tour. During my rookie year, I joined the cast of the popular Golf Channel Show "Big Break," showcasing my competitive skills on national television. During my professional playing career, I was always drawn toward the technical intricacies of the golf swing, often helping my friends and fellow players improve their swings.
    Now let me help you start playing the BEST GOLF OF YOUR LIFE!

    Beautifully explained Great lesson that makes a big difference in ball striking and flight. I realized my grip was wrong. Changing to this position allows for easier straight follow through and the back of my hand is no longer strained after hitting 50-60 balls in the range. I thought it was a hand strength and flexibility issue.

    Hi Coach Caroline, you’re the only one that convinced me to change my grip which I’ve had since I was 10 yrs old, that is safe to say before you were even born. I started very young and Golf for kids was not even in the radar. My Dad took me to a pro but my clubs were adult male blades cut down to my size. Because I had small hands my grip ended up to be strong or 4 knuckles facing the target. It survived 3 swing updates but switching to your swing philosophy, it finally showed its deficiency. My misses were left to really bad left. Neutralizing my grip eliminated lefts misses along with your hip, and hinge recommendations . I always thought that I would not be able to update my swing for a 4th time, the last from the Butch Harmon era of Tiger but I gave it a chance and the biggest difference I’ve gotten with all your recommendations is better command of the ball, distance and trajectory. I feel more in control of the ball flight and how the ball behaves coming into the green. Thanks for posting these lessons.

    When the shaft starts moving in my hand, I know I need to adjust my grip to keep things steady. Every time the head swings one way and the butt goes the other, I can feel it rubbing me. Maybe a firmer hold would keep everything in line and give better friction. Any tips to handle it better?

      "wring the towel"
      During your swing do the motion as if you are trying to wring water out of a towel. The resistance of the 2 hands fighting against eachother keeps your club head stable
      One of mcilroys fav drills and pete cowan teaches this to every student

    The butt of the shaft moves up and down in my left palm quite a lot. Can you comment on this? Should I grip tighter? When the head goes one way, the butt goes the other, wearing a hole in my glove. What should I do differently?

    • @sharkstreyef9330
      @sharkstreyef9330 Před měsícem +2

      the club should be in your fingers, not your palm. She says it in the video. fingers are power, how far do you think you could throw a ball out of your palm?
      put your hand out flat/straight keep flat wrap your fingers around the shaft then put your thumb/pad off hand on, gonna feel totally different

    I cant hinge at the top. That makes me unhinged

  • @jdiggitty
    @jdiggitty Před měsícem

    So, you said the hinge is to get your backswing to the top as fast as possible. Am I missing something here. I have a very "intentional" backswing. Kind of like winding up a spring to release. Doesn't matter how fast the spring gets back there.

    • @coachcarolin
      @coachcarolin  Před měsícem

      It’s not about how fast as in time but how efficient and without any energy or lifting effort that would make your move inefficient. Its similar to wanting to take a direct flight versus a layover, the more direct route is preferred 👍🏻

    Your completely wrong on the grip, left hand for a right handed golfer should be more in the palm of your hand, while right hand is more in the fingers, just read Ben Hogan 5 lessons and he was hands down the greatest ball striker that ever lived
