He was in court with his ex wife, concerning child custody. She was using his show/persona as a reason to get custody. Alex saying he was just an actor was the best thing he could do to try and win the case. His wife was adamant that he is NOT acting. If he admitted that he was really the person on the air it would look bad in the eyes of the court. It's strategy, and notice it was his lawyer that made the statement.
The first time i saw this I missed them bringing up Alex and thought he was telling Joey that he says some silly pointless shit 😂
