      @alexanderstefanov6474 the car market (used and new) is crazy. I was talking to one of my Polish viewers recently about an F15 BMW X5 xDrive25d. A decent one still costs 25k euro here in Poland. For a 10 year old car!!! With a 2 liter diesel.

    I just got this Jeep as a rental with 7k miles on it. For the first time in my life, I'm thinking to return a rental. Probably the worst car I've ever driven for normal road driving, not even comparable to say a Jeep Wrangler. The combination of the gas and electric motor is beyond jerky. It's like they both have a will of their own, and Jeep has done exactly nothing to combine them, completely detached from any driving inputs. Add to this the suspension which makes you feel like you are on a boat. You CANNOT and I repeat CANNOT drive this car smoothly. Maybe if you only use electric power it works, but when the battery is near-empty and the car has to switch between the two engines the whole time, it's beyond bad. Just so you know: I'm driving large SUVs regularly, and this is my 4th Jeep. I usually test-drive vehicles for extended periods of time (weeks).

      That's some troublesome unit, I feel your pain. My experience, so far 6,000 miles, has been rather good. I drive the base model, so no air-suspension, no extra cameras, no real wood, no cooled seats, no fancy leather, just plain 18 inch wheels, but the rest is just the same. This is a company vehicle, the 2023 model and I have no real complains. To me it's the king of the highway, very quiet, no jerky stuff, fast & comfy at the same time. It is overpriced, but that can be said for the most cars today. It's not purchased but rather a company lease, and probably that's the way to go with these kind of unproven models. Because it's a hybrid there are subsidies available (it'll vary per country) and in the end this one was like over $12,000 off with the dealership discounts, etc. At that price it's a no-brainer, it's leased so no worries about expensive repairs. It seems that some folks don't really understand how this car works, at least from the complains I read about. This car's battery is never completely drained, even when the display shows 0% charge left, it still keeps some "unreported" charge left for sudden acceleration, taking off, highway passing or whatever. I rarely plug it in to charge it, as the hotels I stay in usually don't have any EV chargers. But I can have it charged as I go, usually on the long stretches' of highway, I have Max Regen on all the time, which does affect the brakes feel until you get used to it. There are no more V-8 engines available with this model, and my take is that this is better than the V-6 equipped units. My 2 cents anyway.

  • @allanlees299
    @allanlees299 Před 4 měsíci

    Some obvious points: One, you can't simply combine the various power output numbers to get a grand total because that's not what is actually delivered as usable power; Two, the 4xe is useless for off-road work because the charge vanishes rapidly and then you're left with a woefully under-powered 2 liter engine that simply can't push the Jeep through mud or sand. The 4xe is a marketing package, not a proper off-road capable vehicle. So it's fine for a trip to the supermarket in the rain, but utterly useless as a real offroad vehicle. Imagine trying to power a winch with the 2L engine.... very sad, and let's hope Jeep puts the straight-six into at least the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk before too much longer. Otherwise Jeep will cease to be a credible provider of offroad vehicles.

    • @MarekDrivesENG
      @MarekDrivesENG  Před 4 měsíci +1

      1. As long as you're not stuck in mud, but simply crawling along a track, you're not using much of the electric energy, but you're getting benefits of extra torque.
      2. If you're dune bashing, the petrol engine produces so much excess energy, it may just as well recharge the traction battery.
      3. Since when does the winch run off of the engine? The winch is connected to the car's 12V battery, and 2L is plenty. Don't forget they're putting the same engine with and without the PHEV stuff in the Wrangler, and somehow I don't see Wrangler folks crying they can't winch themselves out, because they don't have a V6 under the bonnet.
      Speaking of which, the last time Grand Cherokee was powered by a straight six was 20 years ago.

      It looks like you didn't really had a chance to drive it. The one I drive (base, no-luxury model, no air-suspension) is rather good and I'm liking it quite a bit. You're wrong saying that it's not good off-road, check more videos. It's actually best off-road in the electric mode as it's going slow & steady & surreally quiet. This is the king of the highway type of a vehicle, that can also climb rocks, go sands, mud and a shopping mall all the same. Overpriced just like anything else, but with the current incentives the price came down and it's a prime vehicle to lease.
