Reeves is NOT a PG. And he nor Rui can play defense. The Lakers must add two-way players with size and athleticism at the point guard, shooting guard, & forward positions. And they must add a defensive-minded rebounding center too.
That's why I would add Drummond in the list
Reaves is a worse defender than Rui according to defensive epm
Neither Reaves or Rui will be plus defenders. Both are 26 and they don't have the tools to defend at a high level given their match-ups. Reaves can't guard high level offensive guards without AD covering his deficiencies every possession. Rui can't get skinny around screens while guarding wings. He's not fast enough are quick laterally to make a wing hesitant to score. This also applies to Reaves. These were the Lakers 4th and 5th best players deficiencies defensively. Your not competing for a championship like that, especially if Dlo leaves for nothing.
Any sizeable trade likely requires Rui's contract. If there's a trade, he's gone.
@@kitoyobeni1 I think they should be willing to trade Reaves, Rui, Dlo(if he opts in) for two-way talents. The Hawks want Reaves and we have 3 first, multiple 2nds, and JHS. They should keep the 17th pick for a big on a great salary. Try to get a combination of Dejounte Murray and Dorian Finney Smith. Both on great contracts for their talent and for what the Lakers need.

@@solocreaterc9315 There isn't any playoff potential for a bad defensive player that should be a 6th man. The Lakers were the 7th and 8th seed these past two seasons. They aren't a contender with this roster or even guaranteed to make the playoffs. The west is getting better while the Lakers are holding on to 26 yo role players and draft assets.
RUI's potential is 15-17 PPG and 5-8 rebounds per game. Don't give up on the guy unless you think you can do better at his salary. RUI is not high ego, no problem bringing him off the bench as long as you know his strengths and weaknesses, something that that idiot Ham sucked at, JJ is much smarter.
I want to see if we can unlock Gabe Vincent. We need his two-way guard ability and last year he was riddled with injuries plus the crap role Ham assigned him.

It would also be nice to actually give Max Christie a real chance at extended minutes to develop and show if he's really ready. Darvin SCAM sure as hell didn't have a f***ing clue.
Let Christi get some mins every game and he should be able to contribute in the post. And the same for AR, let him handle/playmake more throughout the reg season and he should be better in those skills in the postseason.

some people do not learn, don't even waste your time, because although some fans might be clueless, Lakers coaches and management understand what you and I do. They are not going into next year with Reaves as your starting PG.
If Reeves is the starting pg they are in trouble. Let Austin stay at guard and do what he do best.
Yup he gets stuck picking up his dribble too much. Sometimes he is pivoting 3 or 4 times trapped when his up and under move doesn't work.
You know Reeves is good! But I felt like he was more of a defensive liability than Delo! And I think they should keep Delo and trade Austin.

Austin Reaves was not a good point guard what are you all watching lol? He's way too slow and he is not that great of a playmaker. People see that he's good in the pick and roll with AD and think he can be the point guard which is false.

One of the biggest keys for the next season will be AD health, shooting efficiency, and decision-making.
Max could be like KCP for the Lakers, with maybe more offensive shooting.
Here, Rui is treated as a typical foreign player, often scapegoated or underrated. If he is a US player, seeing Rui as a young with potential player. I mean it's kinda sad but it's the way we think probably. Also AR gotta improve a lot more. Last season was underwhelming
Max has to stay and play man. He can be a great 2 way player in the right role. JJ might be one of the best coaches for him to take that next step. Austin can’t be untouchable but he shouldn’t be traded for lateral value. He tried defensively most nights. Cant teach effort. He’ll dive onto the floor for a loose ball. Many times after the all star break I noticed last year he played decent defense but guys would just make the shot over him. Tough. I hate to see Rui go but he’s ultimately the odd man out of this system. Along with Vanderbilt. Those 5 games or so we saw true Vanderbilt though, it looked like he could finally contribute something on the offensive end. Even 10-15pts a night would be huge from Vando.
Mark is right. Rui can't guard 3s. He should sub out for Bron at the 4. Lakers need a perimeter oriented 3 who can guard down and hit 3s.
The two problems with us is that we legitimately only have one 2 way player on the team And that is anthony davis Lebron can still play defense in small sample sizes.But he is mainly an offensive player at this point. The other issue is our front office makes horrible Player personnel decisions I have a feeling we are gonna be lucky to even make the play in this year sadly In my opinion. 😢 And rebounding is all about effort.And has nothing to do with size!!

Going forward for D. Murray or C. Sexton is an upgrade over D. Russel. Jeremi Grant is an upgrade over Rui Hachimura though Rui is young but Lakers is in win now mode as Lebron career maybe ending in a year or two. Lakers needs an upgrade for Gabe and Vando as both failed to make an impact 2023-24 season. Maybe another Center and 3D player can help. Jalen Smith or or Wendell Andre Carter Jr. or Jonas. V or Nicolas Claxton can be good center option out there. Jalen Smith also is a good 3 point shooter and young too like M. Turner. Regarding 3D, Gary Trent Jr or or Gary Harris or Torry Craig or De'Anthony Melton or Royce O'Neale or Caleb Martin or Derrick Jones Jr . Backup Center should be Luke Kornet who has playoff experience and backup 3D should be Eric Gordon or Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk.

@@bibsd D’Lo is a top 20 PG in the league so preferably someone better than him whose game in totality is better with THIS roster and coach. He was one of the top 10 shooters in the league this year and still probably the most underrated floor general imo. Murray is a better 2-way player sure, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he does more for the team than D’Lo does when used PROPERLY. Ham made a lot of players worse this year and D’Lo was one of them.

Why are guys still so grossly overrating Austin Reaves? He's Jeremy Lin 2.0. Meaning, like Lin, Reaves had low expectations to start his career and outperformed them. However when teams were able to build scouting reports, they negated those players. Reaves deserves to be on an NBA roster but as a 7-9 player in the rotation. He's not a starter for a contending team. Same with Rui and Vando. These are bench players that have been grossly overrated because relative to the Kent Bazemores and Trevor Arizas, they replaced they look like good players.
