    Hello there Mr Alldogs, thanks very much for the vid, explained very well! I have a question if you don't mind. I have a Frontier (Navara here in the UK) D 22, 2.5 Diesel, 2002. Do you know if its possible to change it from a 4WD / 2WD to just 2WD , as in Removing the Front Drive Shaft, I know this is a bit of an odd question, but I'm having trouble with my Transfer Case in 2WD. I never use 4wd as it's just used for touring and not off road or Towing. Can't afford to do anything with my Transfer Case and would be fine in 2WD all the time. Is this possible or a massive no no!?! Thank you

    Thanks guys. Yes, helpful. Can you do one on how it splits power to front and rear? Main curiosity is, is it always 50/50 split and locked or is it like an open diff? I was out wheeling and was sure I was in 4hi as my front tires were pulling and kicking up rocks, but I got to one area with my left rear wheel off the ground and all the power went to that wheel even though both my fronts were on the ground and I couldn't move

    • @matthewzmyndak2028
      @matthewzmyndak2028 Před 3 lety +1

      You would've been spinning a front tire as well. Power is 50/50 split. Watch when he goes from 4hi to 2hi and the chain gets disengaged.

      @@matthewzmyndak2028 This is so funny.. after I wrote that comment I was going to bed that night and I was like..." what the fuck was I thinking?? Hahah.. And then I was like.. "how am I ever going to find that post to correct what the hell I said" 🤣. You're exactly right.. My left front and right rear were both on high points.. My left rear was definitely off the ground and my right front was likely close to teetering so I didn't have enough traction and power was likely going out the right front wheel and rear left wheel... How's my stupid brain making a dumb decision because I was looking right at the left rear wheel spinning so I figured.." oh it's only the left!"

      depends on what you describe as 'grind'... there's the whir of the transfer case selector motor, then theres gear teeth clash such as you have when trans isn't fully in Neutral or you are slightly rolling... I've had that gear clash once, entirely my fault

  • @omarcazorcid6091

    manually, with a screwdriver, turn completely to the left and continue in 4SLOW, and turn right, make a stop, and then you feel the force of a spring that returns the axis to an intermediate position.
    still in 4 slow.
    any ideas?

    I have a 2006 frontier which its making a ticking sound that happens when I am in 4l or 4H or 2wd. It all started one day when I was wheeling in 4LO down a hill and made the mistake of putting in the clutch, the truck gain speed because I was in neutral for a second and it was downhill then I let out the clutch so the truck TC in 4LO had to slow down rapidly. I think it put stress on the transferase. The sound it coming from the TC? What could have been damaged? Possibly there is alot of slak in the chain? Your thoughts on this?

    My 2008 xterra has a problem in 4 low. If I am in driving in 4 low on a trail for too long something starts to happen like it is slipping or binding up...its strange. I will then switch to 4 high with no problems. What is going on? Transmission or transfer case? I also have a slight vibration in 4 high at the 50 mph range.

    • @shaolin224
      @shaolin224 Před rokem

      That vibration might be from an un balanced front drivshaft in my opinion. And if your on a regular trail you shouldn't be in 4lo most trails will do just fine in 2wd. The binding is from turning the steering wheel and causing "wind up".
