Day 139- Dasavidha Gamakas 1- CM 365 - All about Carnatic Music by Dr.Radha Bhaskar

  • Dr.Radha Bhaskar is a unique combination of a vocal musician, musicologist, teacher, journalist and cultural organizer.
    She is a disciple of Padma Bhushan Sri.P.S.Narayanaswamy and has performed many concerts all over India and abroad. In recognition of her yeoman service to music, she has received several titles like Kala Seva Bharathi, Yuvakala Bharathi, Kala Samrakshini, Kala seva Vipanchee, Sangeetha Kalasevak, Sangeetha Kala Bharathy, Acharya Award, Sparkling Diamond Award etc. She was also conferred the Musical Excellence Award by Sivan Arts Academy & “Women of Excellence” award by Women Economic Forum and Rajalakshmi Institutions.
    She had the rare privilege of conducting a spectacular group singing programme by 5,000 school children in October 2004 in Chennai in the presence of the former President of India, Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam.
    Radha holds a doctorate degree in music for her thesis- “Karnatic Music Concerts - an analytical study”. She has given many educative lecture- demonstrations and also participated in several prestigious panel discussions all over India. Dr.Radha is the recipient of the Junior & Senior Fellowship from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India for doing research work.
    Radha has been the Editor of the arts magazine Samudhra for 17 years.
    Radha is the Treasurer of the unique 27 year old cultural organization Mudhra which has made a distinct name for itself through its innovative and creative approach to performing arts.
    Dr.Radha has been sharing her music knowledge by conducting Music Appreciation Programmes. She was invited by Ministry of Culture, Govt of India to conduct a workshop on “Appreciating Karnatic Music.”
    She was selected as a member of the Rotary International's Group Study Exchange Programme to visit Arizona, USA in 1997.
    Dr.Radha has served as an Expert Member in the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and also been a Member of the Board of Studies of Indian Music at Madras University and Annamalai University.

    Sri Mutthu Swaamy Dheekshithar also had composed in the last CharaNam line as "VeeNA gAna Dasha Gamaga kriyE " in the Devi Krithi 'MeenAkshi meymudham Dehi ' !

    Normally the alternate notes should only be oscilated is it? Sa and pa have no varients. But some proyogas we oscilate sa and pa also to become beautify the particular ragas.. is there any grammer mam?
