      The best tip on mindset I've heard about airsoft was: "Don't come to rack up killstreaks and win all the time - come to get shot at and laugh about it."
      Not only does it help on the field, but it helps immensely when applying it to online MP games like Battlefield, Squad, or even CoD. When you reframe your goal from winning to having fun simply shooting at and being shot by other players, then it's easier to brush off bad games/days and harder to walk away from a game salty.

    As a ref, split up those "teams" on both sides. always balance out teams for any "public games" makes everyone have a good time. If one sides is winning too much? remix teams, handy app out there for team randomizer since all players have numbered armbands at the field im at.

    • @Madara8989
      @Madara8989 Před rokem

      @@MrGoogle87 I'd imagine if it's just 2 casual friends playing there would be no real reason to split them up and most fields wouldn't bother, unless it's field policy to randomize teams every match (which isn't the norm from my understanding). It's when those 2 friends are so much better than everyone else at the field that no other combinations of players can compete with them that reffs would/should look into splitting up even small groups.
      If you are/were the kind of player to get salty because the reffs split your small group up because they keep dominating all day and would avoid a field that threatened to ignore your personal relationships to balance the game so everyone has the chance to enjoy themselves, and if running an airsoft field is anything like running Battlefield servers, then I'm sure most fields would be happy with such players staying away (because wanting to dominate in casual MP games is a huge red flag for over-competitive mindsets and toxic behavior in-game).

Unlike their favorite FPS game you can't spam "jump" or sidestep left & right (AD-strafing) to avoid being shot, you can't tank 3 bullets and heal to full health by avoiding contact for 15s, you can't run indefinitely or casually parkour around the environment, and you actually have to have upper body strength to climb things lol.

I have an extra decent paintball mask and aeg so I bring along people when I can to try to help grow the sport! Love your videos! The ones I see consistently are bad eye pro and people being afraid to push up. We need to work as a community to help them get over the fear of being shot.

    Some good tips.
    I do a lot of marshalling at my local site and we routinely get groups of 10+ noobs. We always split them so that they are not unduly penalised by other teams that play together regularly. Most of our regulars understand this and will happily break up their squads for a few games to share the knowledge and encourage the game play (pushing up, tactics, site knowledge tips, communication etc). Balancing the teams on any day is important but more so when noobs are present.
    I always encourage the new players to invest in their own eye and face pro first and continue to rent RIFs until they have played a few games. Worst case scenario is they invest in some protection that they may not need anymore should they give up.
    The aim of our Airsoft days is fun; that is why we all turn up so it is important to us that the customers re having fun. We do routine hit checks on almost everyone through out the day to minimise the liklihood of people not taking hits, re-chrono at least 20% of players throughout the day and ensure that any disagreements are raised to us as quickly as possible to try to ensure that ill feelings against others is kept to a minimum. Active marshalling is essential to everyone having fun. As a team we apply the same rules to everyone, and communicate amongst ourselves if there is an issue, this way if one of us makes a call we are all aware of it and can apply it accordingly or make a correction if the Head Marshall decides to ask for it.
    Good content and context, keep it coming.

    Tracer unit is very much unnecessary; you wanna make sure you have quality eye pro, a reliable gun, and the right mags
    Edit cause people are still seeing this apparently: I can definitely see how a tracer could be much more useful indoors; I’m coming at it with outside experience only, so your mileage may vary.

    • @tings.6691
      @tings.6691 Před rokem +1

      Agreed, there are more important things you can get before a tracer. However if you play in low light conditions then I would recommend to have a tracer. :)

    • @Airsoftology
      @Airsoftology  Před rokem +5

      Good point on the mags. I've had some trash ones that made life a nightmare.
      But for the tracer, the only reason I recommended it for new players is that I see so many out there thinking they are hitting their target but aren't (too dark to see BB's, hopup adjustment incorrect, etc) it's a great tool to give a far more positive 1st time expierence for the player and help learn the fundamentals with 'aim assist' turned on.

    So, I watched airsoft videos for 10 years before I was finally able to start playing 2 years ago. 1st, you don’t NEED that krytac, umbrella arms, or any “top tier “ replica. Get a good cheap one like G&G or Lancer tactical. The replica doesn’t make the player good. 2nd, your most important piece of equipment is eye/face protection. NO MESH!!!! Seriously there is a reason why people always talk about this. 3rd, you don’t need a full combat load out dress. Hiking boots, pants, shirt, and gloves are just fine. That $600+ crye outfit won’t make you any better. I went solo my first 4 times playing, and the same team that took me in and taught me are the same team I am now on. You will meet more cool people than you will meet people just going out to fight. Just go out and have fun, and remember……. You are paying to play as a target, and if you hit someone it’s a plus.

    Anti-fog eye protection is a must. Trying to fight the fog will ruin your day quickly. Tracers are subjective, but do give you a distinct advantage when you are in low light conditions such as CQB/indoor. Not having a tracer unit in these conditions is not the end of the world if your skills and tactics are on point.
    There are other things/gear you can get before a tracer unit such as comfortable long sleeve t-shirts, pants, gloves, shoes, etc that would make your life a lot better when in game. It is best to wait until you have chosen a primary gun you want to buy, then work out which tracer works best for you and the gun you have chosen. Your choice of gun will dictate what gear you will need to improve your gameplay.
    My advice to anyone starting out is to go slowly as you progress, don't rush to gear up to the max. Get one or two pieces of gear at a time and test it out in game. Sometimes you have a great idea that this next bit of kit will improve your gameplay but in reality it doesn't. Test in game and you will know what works and what doesn't work for you. So just get out there have some fun and call your hits! :)

    I would change tip Nr2 around a bit, specifiy that Full Face Protection is the only good Protection, especially if you play indoors.
    I play exclusive indoor cqb, on my homefield 9 tooth got shoot out in the last few years, all from outdoor players that thougt full face protection was for noobs...
    My recommendations for faceprotection would always be a paintball mask, bnkerkings, dye etc. because they always offer a working thermal lens and full facepro.
    The face and the Hands are the places were impacts hurt the most, so if i would have to start over with my gear i would also pick a good pair of gloves and a Headband or cap with closed back, to keep these bodyparts well protected.
    Good goggles and a mesh mask is also a viable starter option for facepro, in terms of price, you only risk to get shoot in the nose gap, wich ive been told quite hurts too...
