If I knew I had a player on my team who wasnt going to get playing time, or would give us any depth, telling them to enter the portal is actually pretty courteous, instead of having a guy on your team mad he isnt starting and not giving it his all. One thing I think you guys arent taking into account is that maybe Colorado is suggesting to these players to enter the portal.
If I knew I had a player on my team who wasnt going to get playing time, or would give us any depth, telling them to enter the portal is actually pretty courteous, instead of having a guy on your team mad he isnt starting and not giving it his all.
I dont think all the portal entries are necessarily for negative reason, either from players or coaches.
Just my opinion, two things can be true at once

Theres 140 NCAAF teams, in the day of NIL why stay one place and be 3rd string when you can go to another school and possibly get playing time and get paid. This is not farfetched concept

I kinda agree with you. Potential is how most schools become successful. You gotta be able to coach up kids eventually. Constant turnover is somewhat disruptive.
But potential is not what the NIL is all about, @brotherLee. "Coaching up" was the way things were done in the past. Now, however, college football is all about success today, this year, not in 2,3 or 4 years. Any coach who takes the time to develope players over 2-4 years and have losing seasons during that time will be out of a job. I am sure you are right that constant turnover is disruptive in college football, but the NIL is all about constant disruption. I agree with you that development of potential is what college football used to be about. But not anymore. Now, the mandate is to have a winning team at once, which of course is what the NFL is all about. Young players with potential are no longer even wanted. Young players with proven talent are all that matter. The result, I think, is going to continue to be chaos for college football.

People, this is the newest phase of college football. And Coach Prime is going to draw the blueprint for them. The portal and NIL are the new rules. If you can't manipulate them you have no chance of sustaining a winning program. It's NFL-Light, and it's here to stay.
This is undoubtedly a very good point. You cannot compare today's crazy NIL/portal era to college football from even 4-5 years ago. It indeed is likely that Coach Prime is one of the few Power 5 coaches that is working this system very well. Only time will tell. Obviously.
A lot enter the portal. No big deal. Its part of college football especially, if the player knows they aren't going to get much playing time. Pretty sure coach has addressed this to the players. Just remember the grass isn't always greener on the other side. That saying is for the ones that should've stayed, but left hoping. We'll see where they land, if anywhere at all. Hey now as a Michigan State fan I would love if you ended up doing a video on them but as for the subject at hand the transfer portal number won’t go down for Colorado until they start winning games. They invest in the talent they have Colorado can be competitive in the Big 12 in 2025. The Big 12 seems to always be lacking defense.

RJ Johnson, cool. He went to school where my kids are in school. He was on the team with Brandon Hood and Colton Hood. He played on both sides in high school.
