A Ring Of Fire Eclipse!

Today, Saturday, October 14, 2023, a rare annular solar eclipse was visible from Utah. An annular eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly in front of the sun, but appears too small to completely cover the sun's surface, resulting in a ring of fire effect.
The eclipse began in Utah around 9:08 a.m. with annular totality at 10:28 a.m. and a finished around noon. The best part was, 90% of the sun was covered.
The best places to view the eclipse were in the path of totality, which runs through central and southern Utah. However, the eclipse will be visible from anywhere in the state.
Here are some tips for viewing the eclipse safely:
• Use special eclipse glasses or a solar filter. Never look directly at the sun, even during an eclipse.
• Make sure your eclipse glasses or solar filter are certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
• Do not look at the eclipse through a telescope or binoculars without a solar filter.
• If you are viewing the eclipse with children, supervise them closely at all times.
The annular solar eclipse is a rare and spectacular event. If you have the opportunity, be sure to take the time to view it safely.
