  • iOS cursor support is here and so are the first products!
    Apple has it’s own for the iPad Pro range but this iPad keyboard is the first with a multitouch track pad for the regular iPads.
    Is this for you?
    That depends.
    I take a look at what it got right and what it got wrong.

    I have the Combo Touch for my Air 3. Personally, I love it. The trackpad is brilliant and the row of function keys definitely sold me.
    And yes, this case does add weight and makes it rather thick but if you’re use to carrying around any MacBook device (or most any laptop really), weight should be a non-issue, even if you detach the keyboard and use the tablet itself. Even with that, the tablet is well-protected unlike detaching your unprotected Pro device from the Magic Keyboard. Because of that, I’ll easily put up with a slightly heavier IPad.
    As far as the overall thickness goes, I don’t mind it at all. It really gives this whole package a solidity that you really can’t find anyway else. In fact, I feel that if I dropped the Combo Touch onto some concrete, it would crack it while the case would merely have a couple scratches on it. It’s very, very solid.
    So for the price and what you get, the Combo Touch is a worthwhile investment. Recommended!

      I completely agree with your review. One downside that I have noticed is that the keyboard magnets are a bit too weak.

      @housepianist Před 4 lety

      Lennart Araskoug they are a little on the weak side but they’re plenty secure when closing up the case. I just try not to dangle the IPads while holding the keyboard. :-)

    I have an ipad 9 and found a really cheap used version of the Logitech Combo Touch to buy, but it’s from 2 years ago and it only specifies compatibility withthe 7th and 8th generation ipad. But i’m thinking that’s because the 9th wasn’t out yet, because i noticed on their website that now they say it’s compatible with all 3 generations. So what do you guys think, would it work for my 9th gen ipad?

    Thanks very much! Having had both an early iPad and a Surface Pro (which was lighter) I can confirm the SP kickstand is the way to go. It is absolutely superb on the lap and on a desk. I was keen to get an iPad Air with this case until watching your review, because you are so right! Doubling the weight of the iPad without the keyboard is just not on. Your hand or hands will tire in very little time, so why have a tablet at all? I’m now going to save my money for an iPad Pro with ridiculously expensive keyboard. Thanks though! With love, Ken

    • @ijrreviews7295

      NiVi OoF :D yes you could and it works fine but you would need to have something to prop the iPad up against.

    • @housepianist
      @housepianist Před 4 lety +1

      NiVi OoF :D there are a few third-party cases that can be used with the Combo Touch keyboard but then you have to buy something to prop it up with as iJR mentioned. I have scoured the internet trying to find such a case that also has a built-in stand but nothing so far. For me I wouldn’t mind finding a clear case like that. But I’m perfectly fine with what Logitech did.

  • @_Digitalguy

    It’s a trade-off between quickly having the tablet naked and protecting it while carrying it... For home use the magic keyboard is better in many respects, but for carrying it around it’s not enough, you need more protection, while the logitech is an all-in one solution for that....

    • @ijrreviews7295
      @ijrreviews7295  Před 4 lety

      That’s the difficult balancing act really. Unfortunately I think it fails on one and is too thick on the other.

    • @_Digitalguy
      @_Digitalguy Před 4 lety

      @@ijrreviews7295 yeah, in the meantime I have discovered a technique to avoid using the case at home (and only use the smart cover as a stand) and I use the much lighter smart keyboard on the go...

    Recently purchased, and think it's a great product, especially for the price. My one minor gripe is that whilst typing, or scrolling the keyboard seems to lose connection for the tablet - only for a split second - but it's there. Is anyone else having a similar issue?
    Great review by the way 👍

    • @ijrreviews7295
      @ijrreviews7295  Před 4 lety

      mercurio rivera I haven’t tried it but you could have a couple of mini kickstands stuck to the back and it would work. But then the keyboard looks odd when closed and is slightly wider than the iPad so the overall effect is not nice. But yes, in theory you could and it would work fine as long as the cover didn’t need to use the smart connector.

    Really nice review and presentation. I just got a new bigger version of the iPad Pro 10.5 (512GB LTE and 64GB given to wife) and this for £700 all in. I couldn't justify spending £500 on new accessories more so than the cost of the new iPad. It's on back order from Logitech (25% off as a student) so this was a really nice summary. I tend to read papers and the times via press reader more so in landscape nowadays anyway, so the stand and weight actually a bonus rather then negative for me!

      sam Hel Me neither, typing on mine now using a 10.5 inch iPad Pro. Coming from a nice slim case that had a pencil holder and the Smart Keyboard this combination is around 288 grams heavier on top of that (911 grams vs 1199) so about the weight of an iPad mini on top... Also pretty thick, the back case could have been so much thinner I believe.
