Leeds should sign set piece coach's more that players. We are woeful both at defensive and attacking set pieces. We will also need players of course.
Totally agree, but been the same for about 3 seasons, can't understand why it's not been sorted out.
We scored a lot of them at the beginning of last season. Then it kind of went away, I think once you use a set piece routine once and everyone sees what it is, it becomes more and more difficult to catch anyone by surprise. Have to keep mixing it up trying different things
Totally agree. The 49ers have offensive coach and defensive coach in SF for American football, perhpas this may be something that will be applied to UK later on
I’m behind Meslier, he has pulled off some fantastic saves , in that unbeaten run after Christmas. He has struggled lately but as Ger said he is still very young . We must be 100% behind him against Southampton.
Hey Ger, welcome back! What a final day ahead, still possible for the automatic spot, but who knows, beat Southampton and it’s possible. As for Meslier, he frustrates me when he plays out from the back, not quick enough getting the ball back in play for this armchair manager! More screaming at the tv this weekend, I hope to see Leeds going all out guns a blazing! Not long to go now! Gulp!

On Mesiler, the problem is that he knows that he will not be dropped. Both Darlow and Klaeson have said it that he is always going start every game unless injured or suspended.
Am I the only one who has belief in Meslier.. he is still very young, and goalkeepers don't really peak until late 20's. The form of all the players has massively dropped off since the international break.. stick with Meslier he will be an outstanding keeper

I think he's a good keeper who will be a very good in the future. But he's a lightning rod to a lot of fans.
I'm with u , regarding Meslier, he gets stick but I'm hoping he's still our no. 1 for many years

You're right in what you say. However, it's proven on a number of seasons now that we can't wait for him to become that outstanding player.
No you aren't. He has his faults and is probably low on confidence but he's a good keeper. He is being treat similarly to how some fans treated Firpo. Ie huge bias towards his worst performances. I did always think Firpo would improve and he has, but I admit he was poor for a long time.
I just don't see how people can think Mes is so bad. Yes he flaps a bit but he rarely makes total howlers and even this season he's pulled off some great saves for which he gets little credit. He's 10 times the player that Bazuma is for instance. I also think he's good with his feet. The fact that he dithers is more down to the team tactics than him

Meslier is a conundrum, Getting the feeling he's lost a little confidence in the defensive line in front of him, Bit like the end of last season.. Always easy to blame the goalie..

Having watched him since his debut I thing Meslier to be honest has regressed..No presence in the box, weak under the high ball and his shot stopping has come into question. Certainly not Premier League quality if we're lucky enough to get there..
Well Ger we are not going to win the title but it was a dam good try from a thousand miles out. However we ain't done, let's see how Ipswich Town get on. Prince Meslier of Lorient is the best keeper we have had in years. Not since Martin and Robinson have we had a keeper that good, and of course Schmeichel didn't work out for us.
Another difference from Schmeichel is that both Meslier and (as far as I know) his dad are alright.
Welcome back Ger. Good update. Still hopeful we can have a chance of going up on final day. Rotherham keeper is decent and will be a good addition to the squad. 49ers going to be busy in close season either way. They need to prepare for possible both promotion and the likelihood we stay in championship.
Happy if we binned both meslier and Darlow need a better keeper one who can command his area and catch a bloody cross get money for them and buy new an upgrade

Boa tarde Ger, glad you're back in God's country in one piece. Hmm Meslier he's had a terrific season and yet I'm screaming at TV effing & reffing at his last 3 performances. Of course its not just him and he's still only a kid. I really can't wait for thus season to end now. 🙈

I said to get the Rotherham keeper in ages ago. A very good keeper we could get at a cut price.
Meslier has made some big saves this season, Leicester away for example but he seems to go through phases where he's beaten too easily. I like him but think he needs stronger competition and a genuine replacement that could keep him on the bench if he goes off the boil and Darlow hasn't really provided it, shame as I thought he'd be a good signing. I'd be happy to keep Meslier next season but we need serious competition for him and possibly someone that pushes him to backup keeper if (sorry 'when') we go up.

There is a CZcams video that shows some of the mistakes Donnarumma has made but he is still regarded as one of the best and he plays for PSG. The problem is that some social media posters see a high number of goals in a game and immediately blame the keeper and Meslier suffers from that a lot. When you hear that you are been linked with a player then you hear that Stoke and Sheff U are the other clubs interested in him does that really mark that player out as amongst the best options?
We hear constant complaints against Bamford but he doesn't play and looks what happens. I've heard that we got the results in spite of Bamford but wouldn't you also get at least the same results if Bamford wasn't playing?

Hi ger good t have ya back.. On players linked with we'll have to see where we are after next Sat.. while there's still hope of cov helping us out I've got mi head round it's play offs.. if it is sooner play brom there form as gone out the window like ours.. the one I worry about is if hull sneek in they'll be on a real high.. but for me if we get our act together we should beat anybody. if we don't go up it's gunna be a long road back

The meslier issue is that he should be a number 2 keeper pushing an established, experienced keeper hard and learning but we have messed that up over the years. He is lacking in various departments and no one is pushing him thats not good for the team and Darlow doesn't seem to be any better either. I also question the coaching - surely a GK coach can work on things like positioning, claiming balls from corners and passing the ball out. Confidence may be another issue but there are solutions for that as well. Its a big issue if stay in the EFL - huge if somehow we do go up.

Personally would prefer us to go for a proven striker in the championship if we were to remain here, I’d be interested in us going in for latte lath after his performance’s against us. Even tho Piroe was proven at this level it’s clear he doesn’t work in a 1 striker system.
We did that in the summer with Piroe. Not always a guarantee sadly.

There's certainly something wrong in the dressing room. Speculation about tactics, or troublesome players will, of course, be rife under these circumstances.
I don't read into any of this speculation especially because of who it's coming from. Calling bullshit on it. They have 90 points that's not a bad season, in most cases you're already promoted with that or less.
Get we have clubs with our rats on loan who are peeing themselves because they can keep our players. This is going to cause us financial problems. Talk of new players is a bit premature until we have it confirmed we are staying in this league. Then we have the problem of trying to keep players like Gray, Rutter, Summerville, Gnonto and we lose Rodon…….
Meslier is a good keeper, sadly not a great keeper. Piroe takes a good penalty and thats it. Dont think hes made any tackles this season and looses the ball way too easily, its like playing with ten men when hes on the park.

I savaged Messlier on the 'Just Joe' show when you were on it.I said he couldn't catch a cold, you defended him . Would you still keep him?
Yeah I would. Cause I know how young players develop. He's only gone 24, we're so fast to write players off. People regularly ignore anything good he does but hammer him when he does anything wrong. There is no balance which always makes it look like an agenda. I defended Meslier, and as I've done all season I will say when someone plays well and when they don't, something the vast majority seem unable to do. Mes hasn't been perfect this season, and that accurate, but for every bad moment he's had, he's also had some stand out performances. Some massive moments that won us points. But people only want to talk negative. I think we need a keeper for right now and I think those who want to push Meslier out will regret it in a few years. I stick by what I said, again based on how I know player development and how big a factor age is.

@johnredmond8899 I not as reactive as you John and I try and watch every game independently. For every bad moment he's had that people have commented on. There have been moments and games where he's been very good and I some cases won us points, but then we don't here you complimenting him. I'm all.in fa our of criticism and I've been critical of plenty of things, but I also say when they're doing well and played well. Same old names being singled out by the same people. I watch football objectively.
I’m not being reactive Ger, just saying what I see week in week out, he doesn’t command his 6 yard box let alone his penalty area, the guy makes me nervous every time the ball goes near him, that’s my observation, remember how bad we were defensively last season, he played a BIG part in that, some people have very short memories🤍
