My mother used to make moon cakes. None of the kids took interest in it because we were so busy with our professions. We found it was easier to go to the Chinese bakeries /or markets to purchase them. They are very expensive this way. Now, I appreciate how my parents knew how to preserve those duck eggs and make those moon cakes.

We actually eat aquatic snails in France too! Winkles to be precise. I don't know about river snails (but I'm sure some people eat them, we eat pretty much everything we find)
