I always call the bank etc from a number i have and never use the number on a voicemail - then ask if they called. So many scams out there!

Having worked as a flight attendant now for 7 months (thanks to you, I must repeat!) I totally understand the working hours being so exhausting!! I used to work 10 hours a day, 5 days a week, and sometimes over the weekend as well, when I was a primary school teacher. But the energy this job requires is just enormous. We in our airline get sufficient days off to recover, however, and if my teacher colleagues knew how much time off I have now, they'd all chuck the kids aside and join me!
That pax writing the letter/e-mail about the expired bar... Just last Sunday a passenger boarded, obviously together with his partner, and after I had greeted him, the first thing he said was not "hi there" or anything, just that we s*ck at everything. I switched on my lick-your-*** mode and chatted a bit about the challenges of stowing all the hand luggage and how the company could improve, but nothing worked. He rolled his eyes and clearly was stepping on his own tongue not to be b*tchy about too much. When we served the drinks, that continued. Of course, the beer we handed him foamed out of the can like a Yellowstone spout, which only confirmed his image of us. Deboarding, he smiled a forced grinn at me and said "goodbye"... Long story short: some people just don't see an entrance to goodness and keep reinforcing their own bleak image of the world. Been there, done that, so I didn't get snappy or anything. Just saying we as FA are often challenged to buffer all this stuff. Which brings me back to my first point: This job can be draining and exhausting, making you feel you've worked a week in two hours
That call definitely was a scam. And what with Chat-GPT 4o having been released just recently, we all have to brace ourselves for "relatives" calling with fishy stories. I recommend we all designate certain code words (off-line!!!) to verify we're speaking to the real person, just in case...
Doesn't MDD to stand for Mandatory duty free days?
Losing people is awful, indeed... big hug!
My cats on that liquid treat... June: Gobble! Bindi: Really? Blewch! Get me some real cat food, preferably dry crunchies!
And as always: A joy to watch and be a part of your life. Thanks for yet another heartwarming video!

Funny you should say "pahk the cah". We moved from Cape Cod to Georgia and all we heard from the natives here was "say pahk the cah". They'd say "you have an accent" and I say "you have the accent, not me".

Big hugs to you! The money entitlement is definitely different today than it was in past. Sure we all want $$$$, but who is gonna pay for it? I don’t see CEO’s renegotiating. My 1st taxable job 1984 McDonalds before I went into the Navy. $3.35 per hour. Saving and not demand spending is what these young adults need to learn. I’m wondering what the FA thought should be a good starting salary for a job with great benefits and no formal degree ( College) .

Steven, the sheriff is dodgy. Did he identify his department? When they leave phone messages, they always give their rank, name, and department. Usually, they’ll give a little information on why they’re calling.
(I have a friend in law enforcement)
If he calls back, look up his department contact information on the internet to return the call.
If you’re worried, call your local sheriff’s office and ask if they’re trying to reach you.

I'm so sorry about your uncle Bob. To say Pancreatic cancer sucks is too mild, but this is a public forum... I hate it vehemently. It seems it is becoming more common. Maybe it's just that I'm getting older and paying more attention... It took my uncle very quickly in the early 80s at 52. By the time he got checked, nothing could save him. Six weeks and he was gone. It showed up as jaundice on his 68 year old sister in 2015, but my aunt was healthy enough to be prepared for and experience the Whipple surgery. She got 5 good years until it snuck up on her in a place they weren't expecting. She died in 2021. My "favorite neighbor ever" succumbed to it in 2015 and now it's trying to take one of our pilots who has 4 young children. Anyone reading this, if you pray, please pray for a miracle and for strength to endure (for him, his wife and his most cherished loved ones.) I continue to hope for a cure and support PanCan, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. 💜 Hugs to you, Steven.

I think as we get older, we become less resilient to the long hours/stretches of time of working. For a long period last year, I was working 20 hours OVERTIME and I don't know how I was doing it.
Expired bar? Ugh, an obvious oversight and they will USUALLY write in later hoping to "get something." It just irks me, when something minor like that occurs, the exaggeration of the "injury" and the outrage that is expressed in writing.
People should be outraged about the pay and conditions of a FA. It's criminal. I'm sure that pay level qualifies for assistance from the government.
The "sheriff" and the "IRS" call me all the time, threatening me with jail about jury duty, threatening me with jail for owing taxes (I don't), and I just do not return any calls like that. If the sheriff wants to see me they can come to my door in uniform or leave papers at my door. It will always be a scam by phone. Your coworkers are right on the target. When my mom had Alzheimer's I became wise to the myriad ways predators try to extract money from people, it's sickening.
I love your outfit and your purchases. You should really be a stylist! I have always loved a man who wore ties - they can sometimes provide that little extra pop in an outfit. I am so sorry about your Uncle Bob. Pancreatic cancer is a real B.

I love my FA job at a regional, but I'm not so crazy about how many 4 and 5 data trips we have. Do you guys have mainly shorter trips there? I'm wondering whether my airline is unusual in the length of trips we have.

    • @flightattendantsteven
      @flightattendantsteven  Před 3 měsíci +1

Our days are often between one and three legs. We do a fair number of three hour legs as well as five hour legs (mainly early morning or late at night. On the west coast we have a a few lines that are five leg days that bring us all over California. Those days are hard because they are long duty days with little credit. But, in general, I like our flying.
