    This fits my learning style perfectly. First presenting a common business need and use case for the tool and then what it looks like doing it using the tool without overwhelming with all switches and features giving me a good idea what the tool is about. Thank you.

    Good stuff. Any idea why bookings might be considered a security risk? Apparently at least a couple companies have claimed this to be true.

    Lists seems to me a work in progress. Tried to use it but the Excel spreadsheet we use looks like it's going to stay until they work the bugs out.

    • @chuckpg31
      @chuckpg31 Před 14 dny +1

      You really should switch to lists. Reason being, super large spreadsheets that are used solely for tracking progress in work tasks, will see immense slowdowns after a lot of lines are added. Also things like automation will be broken as soon as the file name changes or a column name changing.

    Instead of trying to do everything Microsoft should try and get the basics right - anyone that suffers the dreads of Sharepoint and One Drive, with its half baked integration with Teams just wishes they would sort out their document management before anything else.

    • @ladysaiyan9532
      @ladysaiyan9532 Před 11 dny

      I'm not sure what you mean by half-baked with SP and OneDrive as Teams its literally built on top of SharePoint and OneDrive is using the SharePoint framework.

    Has anyone used lists at scale? I have used lists a lot but for quick short term tasks.

    • @davidadams421
      @davidadams421 Před měsícem +2

      There are limits e.g. 30M items, 2,000 lists per site collection and you'll start struggling trying to view more than 5,000 items at a time. Adding some of the more processing heavy columns like lookups and metadata can slow down list display but only when displaying thousands of items at a time. I can't imagine a small business ever running into a scaling issue, though.

      @@chuckpg31 The MS apps are pretty impressive until you have a common use case that MS never bothers to implement[1]. Like drag and drop of assets/images into planner, mentions in planner, notifications of anyone involved in a task in planner (without that weird hack to comment first) or select single days for bookings instead of rolling weeks and start/end date. Overall I'm kind of glad I came late to the MS party through my job. It all looks much better now. But if you expect functionality like in Trello or Notion or any other app they clone... it can be very disappointing and limiting.
