Brilliant help on my smax. Thank you soo so much
Thanks Nigel. I have just changed my driver’s door window mechanism. With out your guidance I would not have attempted this job. It went smoothly.
Greetings from Australia. Thank you so much for your video. My son's first car is a 2007 MA Zetec Mondeo and it had this fault but on the driver's rear window. The rear window is even easier to install, the regulator is half the size and just the section which has the motor and one white window clip. When we installed we found it easier to install the regulator and screw in first. Then as a two-man job, we gently removed the tape holding the glass and slowly lowered it and it just clicked into place. 👍
Thanks for uploading this video. Today I completed replacing rear left one on my 2012 Mondeo, after watching your video. The task was a breeze, after watching you doing this. Cheers.
Thanks a lot Nigel, that's was complete, accurate and a carefully way. One idea perhaps, to keep the wimdow up, with pieces of carton or cartboard under the skotch, I don't know which word to use. Cheers. It's for a Smax.
I have something broken in rear mechanism, window is all loose and sounds like some cable is loose too. There was some pieces of white plastic in bottom of door. I just locked window up with a piece of wood, but thanks to your video I now have enough info to get new mech and start assembling it. Thank You Sir!
Great video mate, clear instructions and nice camera work of the window brackets inside the door. 15 pound for a replacement part and a few hours labor yourself.Sure you saved a fortune compared to a Ford stealership doing the job 👍
Same thing, same condition happened to me, my other half didn't realise, and yeah, these things happen, thanks for the video.
I had exactly the same problem happen when icy, I disconnected the battery for 10 seconds and that sorted the problem, the windows did need reseting but cured the fault
Thank you so much. I did mine today after watching this video....really great information. Thank you!
Thank you for posting this video, this is now the second time I followed one of your videos and successfully fixed my car. Incidentally mines a 2014 S-Max and it’s pretty much same
hi nigel , just leaving a message to say thanks as ive watched your video on removing the fog light for mk4 mondeo and changing the door speakers which i did yesterday and sadly now my window is goin up for half a sec then stopping so now im having to replace the regulator mechanism which i knew nothing about until watching this video. big thanks as there informative and have really helped me out so much. i hope ur keeping well and thanks again :)
Sounds like you are not having a lot of luck. Thanks for watching and well done for having a go yourself.
You are a lifesaver, quality of this video is brilliant, much appreciated mate
Thanks. If you have the same problem try a control module reset first. See my video comments.
Thank you for video sir.
I reset my window successfully.
Thanks again and best wishes from me.
Thank you! This is my task today. Very clear info.
have a 56 plate, ford quoted £300 for motor/regulator, got generic branded new one online for £30 great camera work. just needed to reprogram/reset auto window...
Well done. I’m afraid I jumped to a possible wrong conclusion and changed the whole regulator when a reset might have done the job. A shared comment on this video suggested the reset first.
Thanks for this video❤
Hi Nigel, I have a mondeo MK3 and just noticed after taking apart the inner door that the cable is broken right below the electro motor. So I'll have to replace the system. The electro motor is still working but off all the window mechanisms you can buy online most of them say ' without motor' Is it possible to transfer the old motor onto the new window mechanism?
Don’t know and I wouldn’t attempt. Ebay has loads of them complete at about £27. Make sure the part numbers match.
Why is it so difficult to separate the glass holder?
This mondeo was built in 2007 and the new mécanism was built in 2013.
great video .. I have an issue with left rear window, would the panel removal and fix procedure be the same for rear window too? If I had to get this done outside in a garage, what is the fair price for this job?
Good video ... but why did you choose for a second hand part? Here in Portugal we prefer oem parts, but if is too expensive normaly we choose a aftermaked part because normaly a second parts only last for a year if so!!!
Cheers from Portugal and stay safe...
It’s a 13 year old car. For non critical parts like this second hand for me is fine. This part will out last the car so why pay more. For servicing of anything that is critical like the engine, brakes, steering then I always buy new. Thanks for watching and the comment.
Great video, I did exactly the same as you ( frozen window - snapped wire) my motor still works so just bought regulator. Hope to do it next week. Xx
Hi
I have a question please,
I had a new door fitted on the front passenger side, and now the speakers don't work, I've replaced them with the ones from my old door as they worked, but still nothing, I've checked the wires and everything is ok as I can see.
Any ideas please?
Also your videos have been super helpful thank you.
Thanks for the compliment.
My first thought is give it back to whoever changed the door and get them to fix it. That said I’m guessing the door is second hand.
The most likely problem is where the door cable loom plugs into the door pillar. Push the rubber cover down at the top on the pillar and pull back to reveal the connector. Look for any pins pushed back out of the connectors or even the connector not pushed fully in. You will need to disconnect to check the pins on both sides.
After that I would do a wiring continuity check on the black wires between that connector and the wires on the back of the speaker with a multimeter to see if there’s a break. According to my wiring diagram it should be two black wires. If you don’t have a multimeter use a torch and a couple of wires and see if the bulb lights.
Finally assuming continuity is good do a short circuit check by disconnecting both speakers and the pillar connector and using the multimeter / torch check across the two blacks again.
Hope this helps. Let me know how you get on.
Hi Nigel, recently I have had a problem with the rear window of my Ford Mondeo (It´s very similar than yours). My feeling is that the plastic clap is broken and that´s why the glass falls down. But if i can´t get these claps, i should buy the whole mechanism. Could you please tell me the website where you got it? Thank you so much for the video and your time.
I think a mechanism with motor is around £50 on eBay, where did you get mechanism + motor for £15 ? Sounds an incredible price. Thanks
I got mine off ebay secondhand. Just did a search again and I’m seeing them for £20-£25. Before changing everything try disconnecting and reconnecting the window controller circuit mounted on the door. Sometimes the window gets stuck because it doesn’t know the position it’s in.
Wher bouts in uk are you mate?
Hello I have problem with my mondeo front right window can go down, but when i need it to go back up i need to hold switch ... it is not problem with switch because i swapped from my friends car ... basicaly one press and window should ho up automatically ... but it not working i need to keep switch pressed ... any ides please ?
It’s probably the window control module that’s the problem. Take the door cover off and try a reset by unplugging and plugging the connector to the module.
@@NigelEaland thank you so much i will try to unplug/plug if not improvemnt i will swap from rear door ... thank you once again
@@NigelEaland Maybe this will help somebody one day, I tried to check window module fuses in trunk and complete wiring ... no help at all.
Then I found this easy fix and it works again :) czcams.com/video/GeeXuCEvxpg/video.html
@@sawrix2068 that’s a great solution. Why are these hidden tricks not documented in the owner’s manual? Thanks for sharing.
Hi Nigel, Are you sure the parts you changed were faulty? I had exactly the same problem 2 months ago, where my mk4 passenger window froze up. Then when the weather warmed up, the window would only go down half an inch. Today I watched your video which suggest replacing the regulator mechanism. Before ordering the part, I had a quick look at previous comments on here (See Adrian Carroll) and also searched the problem on the net. Turns out it's a known condition where, when the window is frozen and you try to lower it, the control module looses track of where the window fully up and fully down position is, so needs to be reset. I've just been out to the car today and done the reset...........Hold the door window switch in down position for 30 seconds then release and press again for 5 seconds. Then repeat the procedure holding the switch in the up position. It all works fine now, no parts required.
Well you may well be right. I was not aware of a reset. When I got the old one out it still didn’t work and the new one worked as soon as I plugged it in. Thanks for the feed back and for watching.
I've updated my description using your description for the reset. Thanks again.
@@NigelEaland It's still a great video Nigel, as the regulator assembly could still fail. I had the long bowden cable snap and jam up, on my previous mk3.
Hi Nigel, watched your video as I had the very same issue after the window had been iced up. The video was very well done but thought I'd try the reset trick first before ordering parts and taking the door apart and I'm pleased to say it fixed the problem. So definitely worth trying first.
How do you get the white plastic clips to let go of the glass?
I released the mechanism first so as I could lower the window a few inches. Then get your fingers in there and pull back the plastic clip as I did at 3’40”. They are quite strong.
@@NigelEalandim trying to get the glass out the door to put tint on it but cant seem to free the plastic clips from the glass does it just pull out of the holes in the glass or do you have to use a screwdriver to put pressure on it
I dont even know how u manage to get your hand in there to free them its too small of a gap to be able to put pressure on them to release them haha
I have a question , is it possible to put 2 such sistems or to adapt the existing one for 2 windows ? Something like this czcams.com/video/Qc_1UxnLXnI/video.html
Thanks Nigel - followed the same steps but for the left rear window and got it working again no worries! Very useful video.
