1:05:21 Conclusion / Advice / Summary of benefits of reading aloud
In reply to a couple of comments, reading aloud might be problematic for learners of English who don’t yet pronounce all their words correctly. In that case, reading along (or shadowing) while someone else reads aloud, could be a good idea.
I thank you for this wonderful lesson, Sir!
Hello from Thailand Luke! I do agree with you that shadowing is a good method for practicing pronouciation. It would be nice if you could make a special episode that you read a story for us as an orinal story as you normally do in your short story episode and then you have another section that you pause after each sentence (or a bit of sentence) so we can repeat after you. As I listen to your podcast while driving, it is impossible to press the pause botton by myself. Thank you in advance for your consideration.😊
Ps. You are my first (and favourite) youtuber I left my comment!
@@nina_nj3965 that’s coming in the next episode!
It’ll be perfect if every episode is provided with PDF transcript. Then I can read aloud with Luke every day.😊
Hello Luke, I am a spanish speaker.
Before internet, there was difficult to hear a foreing language, so I studied written English by myself. Today I have a very hard problem: when any English speaker talks to me I've problem because I have never heard many words even I know it in written mode.
Now I have to beging to study from zero.
I learn English and Germany. And I read it out loud whenever possible. My pronunciation improved much.
Du hast damit recht❤
wow, I can imagine how it's difficult. I tried learning German and English but it wasn't for me. My primary goal a superb English level.
Hi Luke
I am a doctor from India and i have been suffering from depression and Ocd for the past 25 years.
For people suffering from OCD and depression concentration can be a very big issue .They are never in the present moment. I can definitely vouch that reading out loud helps you stay in the moment and helps form memories .
I wish your good health.
Thank you. You are right, that was the way that helped me a lot to study Russian in Odessa, USSR. ❤
Hi Does having OCD affect your job as a doctor? And how do you cope with it? I can imagine that your OCD becomes worse when you are stressful.
@soemoe5087
True bro I have been suffering from OCD from high school days with depression
Bullying in High school ,parental separation and stressful medical profession has only compounded the matter
But I believe in persisting and hanging in there
I believe in karma if I remain honest and things will change one day
Speaking out loud is not only help full for learning english, It is helpfull for learning any other subjects.
I'm so glad that I found your podcast. It's been almost three months since I started my new job, and I feel like I need to improve my English as in this position, I'm dealing with writing emails, online meetings, etc. Anyway, this podcast is really helping me. A nice article that scientifically explains the way you, Luke, teach us and the way we learn English with your podcast. We listen to your reading aloud, read silently the text while watching it, read out loud some extracts after listening to you. It works. 👍Thank you for this episode.❤

@@Bolat1214 Hello. It's LenaTE, actually Lena is my name. I'm from Russia, a teacher Have been teaching English for 30 years. I watched one episode from your Channel and think you'd better ask somebody who is a native speaker. Anyway, we can text each other, you can ask some questions if there are troubles with grammar or vocabulary, I'm not sure about conversation, usually don't have lots of free time.
Best lesson ever! I’m italian and I’m trying to improve my English. Thank you Luke ❤️

Fantastic right here with this podcast. It work to listen shadowing while i read the text.
Now I see, I usually read silently and my pronunciation looks good, but now reading out loud I see it's bad kkkkkkkkkkk for today I'll practice reading out loud.
Thanks a lot ! You are the best teacher!
I enjoyed reading listening and watching...thanks Luke..
I think we read more silently because we are lazy and not interested...I think this is one of the reasons
Mr. Luke's you are excellent with your teaching skills, to be a good reader is my, goal. Thanks!
WOW! I'm happy that I find this channel!!!
I read out loud most of the time, especially when I need to have a steadfast memory. I recite the text just like I do with the religious psalm. And I read English text out loud in order to practice my pronunciation, and this practice has a positive effect on my speaking.

Every time, i greeted to him and his english really amazed me. And we started talking about his journey to the leeds, and asked about his English as well. He recommended luck's channel to me. That is why luck's podcast is not all about learning english, it is also anout my memory meeting nice friend.❤

Hello Luke, you're a great teacher,
hello! I'm from Kazakhstan. I study English on my own. looking for a partner to make a conversation
Thanks Luke, another good podcast.
Hi Luke,
Firstly, thank you so much for making these high quality episodes for English learners around the world!
Answer to your questions at the end:
1. I did read the article aloud at the end and it took 15 minutes to do so. Felt more confident and relaxed towards the end. The words came out easier.
2. What you discussed/ the article you shared was so inspiring that I decided to read out loud an English article everyday (10-15 minutes). Apart from enhancing memory, I believe this is also a good exercise for muscles around the mouth :-) so when it comes to real conversations, I might have better/ quicker reaction and can speak out long sentences more natural.
Thanks again and have a good day/ night.

Luke, thank you! it was the whole lesson to me as if I study at a language school. I read the article twice aloud before I listened to your reading. I slowed down the video to keep up you:) I wish all English speaking people spoke like you- clearly and nicely!
Thanks a lot
Greg, great, great lesson Luke👏👏👏👏. I’m reading in this days The Medicis which is a story of the Medici’s Family of Florence. Two days ago I started to read the book aloud because I thought that in this way I will pay more attention to my pronunciation. And I succeed. So it’s absolutely through what the article says……. What the article doesn’t say is that if you are reading in that way, you need to have next to you a glass of water because your mouths, particularly your tongue, will get dried 😊, but the experience is absolutely positive.
