The issue with Samsung phones isn't that they didn't make the 9 look different from the 8. In fact, they did. If you believe that rotating the camera on the iPhone is enough to make it distinct, then it should be enough for Samsung to move the locations of the flash and the fingerprint sensor. Samsung's problem is that they are competing against Chinese companies that are making Android phones with fewer and fewer compromises for much less money. That's why their flagships aren't selling as well. If a customer wants a non-Android experience, there is only one place to turn. This is to Apple's benefit. Samsung has to compete with a dozen manufacturers that are all making very similar devices.
That's were Samsung counters with their J Series. It's not quite flagship but depending on the model you get close to it in a sense. Maybe in the chinese market you will see people buying the cheaper phones but there is no way in hell you will go to the U.S and see someone rocking a Pocophone.

Tbf it is a lot easier to recognize a new iPhone than it is a new Samsung for the most part. Yes apple rotated the camera and it works but something about the way they did it or how it looks makes it so much more noticeable, on galaxy I can barely tell. Apple has refined the way to make minor changes and still be able to distinguish all their phones.

The 5C is an interesting device. I don’t think we will see a ‘low rent’ plastic back iPhone again. I have all 5 colours of it in my collection. You hit the nail on the head it was too expensive. The SE did better because it is/was cheaper even though it had less.differentiation from the 5S (rose gold option also in my collection!) a la 6S and has better not the same specs to previous variants in that body style. Poor old Steve Jobs was probably spinning in his grave when the 5C launched let alone the 6 Plus!

I think the standard iPhone 7 or possibly 8 (4.7") will probably live on as an SE replacement together with the new 9, 11 and 11 Plus versions the rest being discontinued?
There was a time I loved the 5c because of its colours. I never had one. But I use the SE now and still love it. Maybe I’d upgrade after September 2019.
I have a 5c. I've had it for 4 years. I've dropped it a TON the screen might pop out but I just push it back in and it's fine. There's no scratches or cracks at all it's pretty sturdy. ;>
I bought a 5c a couple of weeks ago sealed for a bargain price and I'm now using it as a daily drive for a little experiment. I have to say I'm quite impressed at how much I can get out of a device from 2013 considering that at that time I wasn't even using a smartphone yet! I've got other devices with me that can tackle what the 5c can't anymore so for me it works fine and it looks so nice! I'm a fan of the color and plastic back honestly.
just to put this out there, the iPhone SE is ridiculously cheap brand new. Last month I got one brand new for $200, but that’s actually pretty high compared to what I’ve seen. You can get them used for less than $100 on ebay and I’ve seen it go for $120 in walmart. The phone performs incredibly well for how cheap it is. (I know the video wasn’t about that but I’m bringing it up because he brought up the SE price and it’s only that much if you get it from apple) While I don’t think I’d want to use it as a daily driver, it’s still very capable and I wouldn’t fault anyone. I’m just so used to the X.

That's because iOS 10 is the last 32-bit OS from Apple, and the A6 chipset is 32-bit. The A7 chipset is 64-bit, like iOS 11 and 12, so they support iOS 11 and 12.
What most impressed me about the iphone 5 was holding it for the first time. The first time I held it, it felt like when you go grab a cup and expect it to be full but its actually empty. I was speechless

If I remember correctly iPhone 5C had a little bit bigger battery, a little bit better camera performance but a little bit slower SOC due to underclocking thanks to the plastic chassis than 5.
By the end of 2013, I was still stuck with an iPhone 3GS, couldn’t get iOS 7, needed a new phone, went to the EE shop in Canterbury (there wasn’t one nearer me til Phones 4U shut down, my nearest one of that became an EE shop), and instead of getting a 5S or 5C, the staff found a iPhone 5 lot in the back and they let me have one! It worked fine, but the battery started going wrong a year later! Still managed for another year, before upgrading to the 6S!

The iPhone 5 was my first iPhone. I got it for Christmas back in 2014. My mum told me she was looking at it and the 5C, but the 5C was actually slightly worse spec-wise and the 5 was built really nicely, and was much cheaper. She got it refurbished by apple, it looked totally brand new. I love it so much, I use a 6S plus now but sometimes go back to the 5 for a day and I'm very impressed by the speed of it. It slowed down a _lot_ in 2017, but it seems to be doing amazingly again now. 😍
X and XS had the most minimal change to the outside other than the color. To this day there is no easy way for me to tell the difference between the two unless the xs is gold.

Obviously they had lower specs but they still were top of the line iPhones for the time...Just how I think. That’s fine if you don’t.
The black iPhone 5 was gorgeous but would scratch and dent to easily, Apple also had trouble getting the colour consistently. I think this is why the 5S was space grey rather than slate, and also why the 5C had a steel and polycarbonate body. It allowed Apple to sell the 5C for $100 less than the 5 in 2012; it was just easier to produce consistently. In early 2014 I absolutely would have bought the iPhone 5 rather than the 5S if it was available on contract. I loved my 5S but always yearned for a slate iPhone 5. I think this is why I currently have a Jet black iPhone 7 rather than buying the iPhone 8, I know the 8 is significantly faster and has better features but I am just a sucker for a black iPhone I guess.
I liked the iPhone 5C. Today I use a modded 5C with SE hardware, and added internal wireless charging through the plastic backside. It's the most comfortable phone to hold ever.

I still use the iPhone SE today as my primary phone and the iPhone 5 as a backup. I really wish I could restore the 5 back to the Steve Jobs theme. The newer iOS have just plain and flat icons.
I loved my blue 5c it felt great in the hand and I refused to upgrade because of the abysmally large screen sizes which flat out are not usable in my small hands, even my galaxy s7 I'm using now is WAAAAY too big for my hands
My first iPhone was the 5. I hated putting it in a case, but payed for that by breaking the screen twice! Still have it, but I’m using a XR these days.

The 6s didn’t bring only rose gold. Although Apple didn’t tell people they stopped the touch disease on iPhone 6 by adding the adhesive they needed to stop IC flexing. Apple also changed the material of the 6s to make it not bend. Apple said that bending and touch disease weren’t an issue while at the same time fixing both of those issues with the release of the 6s
However, the iPhone SE is soon going to be discontinued, signaling the complete END of 4 inch iPhones leaving the iPod Touch 6th generation as the last 4 inch screen Apple product.

Must just be me who thinks Steve Job's vision of what a good smartphone was wasn't the best. The iOS 7 redesign looked so much better and so much more modern. Then came the size of the iPhone 6, and it was just so much better than the typical iPhone size at the time. It was big, but not too big-time but if you wanted a bigger phone, you could upgrade to the 6 Plus. This change has literally shaped the smartphone industry so much since then. I firmly believe that the iPhone would've failed had Steve Job's not died. Though the 5c was a _flop_, it set a precedent for the post-Jobs era. And that was Apple was giving us what we wanted... For the most part at least.

iPhones that came after Steve Jobs had issues on their own. 5s has this error thingy when you replace the home button. 6 and 6plus has its bendgate. 6s didn't sell that much. 7 has no headphone jack, had a problem with its radio, and also had a problem with microphones. iPhone 8 is a design recycle, almost a downgrade with its single camera setup. iPhone X... Well, yea.

I would have totally gotten the 5c if it had the internals of the 5s and TouchID. I didn’t mind the plastic at all. In fact, that plastic case meant I didn’t really have to worry about the aluminum getting scuffed or dinged. It just didn’t make a lot of sense to get a phone with a different look and previous year’s internals.

I bought a 5c a couple of weeks ago sealed for a bargain price and I'm now using it as a daily drive for a little experiment. I have to say I'm quite impressed at how much I can get out of a device from 2013 considering that at that time I wasn't even using a smartphone yet!
I've got other devices with me that can tackle what the 5c can't anymore so for me it works fine and it looks so nice! I'm a fan of the color and plastic back honestly.

just to put this out there, the iPhone SE is ridiculously cheap brand new. Last month I got one brand new for $200, but that’s actually pretty high compared to what I’ve seen. You can get them used for less than $100 on ebay and I’ve seen it go for $120 in walmart. The phone performs incredibly well for how cheap it is. (I know the video wasn’t about that but I’m bringing it up because he brought up the SE price and it’s only that much if you get it from apple) While I don’t think I’d want to use it as a daily driver, it’s still very capable and I wouldn’t fault anyone. I’m just so used to the X.

Reek Rodriguez i couldn’t really give any logical answer to this but I notice some difference mostly in lighting. I haven’t used the SE’s camera at all really so I’m not sure how much of an improvement it is from that.

That's because iOS 10 is the last 32-bit OS from Apple, and the A6 chipset is 32-bit. The A7 chipset is 64-bit, like iOS 11 and 12, so they support iOS 11 and 12.

What most impressed me about the iphone 5 was holding it for the first time. The first time I held it, it felt like when you go grab a cup and expect it to be full but its actually empty. I was speechless

The 5c has a wider frequency range for LTE than the 5. At least the European version.
der 01001101 you’re right. This is the same for the US version(s). The 5 was Apple’s first LTE phone and it barely had any bands, whereas the 5c has MUCH more bands.
If I remember correctly iPhone 5C had a little bit bigger battery, a little bit better camera performance but a little bit slower SOC due to underclocking thanks to the plastic chassis than 5.
By the end of 2013, I was still stuck with an iPhone 3GS, couldn’t get iOS 7, needed a new phone, went to the EE shop in Canterbury (there wasn’t one nearer me til Phones 4U shut down, my nearest one of that became an EE shop), and instead of getting a 5S or 5C, the staff found a iPhone 5 lot in the back and they let me have one! It worked fine, but the battery started going wrong a year later! Still managed for another year, before upgrading to the 6S!
And functional it is, I use a 5s to this day

The 5 has a circular flash, the 5S a pill-shaped dual tone flash.

The iPhone 5 was my first iPhone. I got it for Christmas back in 2014. My mum told me she was looking at it and the 5C, but the 5C was actually slightly worse spec-wise and the 5 was built really nicely, and was much cheaper. She got it refurbished by apple, it looked totally brand new. I love it so much, I use a 6S plus now but sometimes go back to the 5 for a day and I'm very impressed by the speed of it. It slowed down a _lot_ in 2017, but it seems to be doing amazingly again now. 😍
X and XS had the most minimal change to the outside other than the color. To this day there is no easy way for me to tell the difference between the two unless the xs is gold.
Honestly, cheap for me isn’t $350. Cheap is like $200. If Apple could make a iPhone that price, I would think sales would boom. Good video by the way
Jeffery Zigbuo no that isn’t necessarily what I’m saying. Cheap isn’t $100 less then the actual one. If there was an iPhone Xc version for $650 and the actual X is $750...I don’t think that is really a significant drop.
Jeffery Zigbuo trust me, I’m a happy Iphone user. But if your wanting to make a “budget” iPhone, at least make it budget. For most people I know, budget isn’t $400 to $500. Budget is $200 to $300. I’m pretty sure the 5C wasn’t around that price. Correct me if I’m wrong. Back some time ago, the iPhones were much cheaper. Obviously they had lower specs but they still were top of the line iPhones for the time...Just how I think. That’s fine if you don’t.

The black iPhone 5 was gorgeous but would scratch and dent to easily, Apple also had trouble getting the colour consistently. I think this is why the 5S was space grey rather than slate, and also why the 5C had a steel and polycarbonate body.
It allowed Apple to sell the 5C for $100 less than the 5 in 2012; it was just easier to produce consistently.
In early 2014 I absolutely would have bought the iPhone 5 rather than the 5S if it was available on contract. I loved my 5S but always yearned for a slate iPhone 5.
I think this is why I currently have a Jet black iPhone 7 rather than buying the iPhone 8, I know the 8 is significantly faster and has better features but I am just a sucker for a black iPhone I guess.

I still use the iPhone SE today as my primary phone and the iPhone 5 as a backup. I really wish I could restore the 5 back to the Steve Jobs theme. The newer iOS have just plain and flat icons.
I loved my blue 5c it felt great in the hand and I refused to upgrade because of the abysmally large screen sizes which flat out are not usable in my small hands, even my galaxy s7 I'm using now is WAAAAY too big for my hands

The 6s didn’t bring only rose gold. Although Apple didn’t tell people they stopped the touch disease on iPhone 6 by adding the adhesive they needed to stop IC flexing. Apple also changed the material of the 6s to make it not bend. Apple said that bending and touch disease weren’t an issue while at the same time fixing both of those issues with the release of the 6s

The SE was released for those who didnt want a large phone, and stil wanted that 4" compact iphone. Mostly older people bought it I think.

Must just be me who thinks Steve Job's vision of what a good smartphone was wasn't the best. The iOS 7 redesign looked so much better and so much more modern. Then came the size of the iPhone 6, and it was just so much better than the typical iPhone size at the time. It was big, but not too big-time but if you wanted a bigger phone, you could upgrade to the 6 Plus. This change has literally shaped the smartphone industry so much since then. I firmly believe that the iPhone would've failed had Steve Job's not died. Though the 5c was a _flop_, it set a precedent for the post-Jobs era. And that was Apple was giving us what we wanted... For the most part at least.
Fetto Nah the Steve jobs era was good but I stopped using Apple products because my iPod 4th gen charging port broke and I thought to never come back well I came back a few years later to the iPhone se because I needed a phone with a lot of storage and a good camera
How do you know that Steve didn't get to participate in the DEVELOPMENT of iOS7? 😂 You do know that manufacturers develop system updates months or even years before the release date. Google has probably been working on Android P even before the release of Oreo.
iPhones that came after Steve Jobs had issues on their own. 5s has this error thingy when you replace the home button. 6 and 6plus has its bendgate. 6s didn't sell that much. 7 has no headphone jack, had a problem with its radio, and also had a problem with microphones. iPhone 8 is a design recycle, almost a downgrade with its single camera setup. iPhone X... Well, yea.

I would have totally gotten the 5c if it had the internals of the 5s and TouchID. I didn’t mind the plastic at all. In fact, that plastic case meant I didn’t really have to worry about the aluminum getting scuffed or dinged. It just didn’t make a lot of sense to get a phone with a different look and previous year’s internals.
I remember buying about 10 iPhone 4 backs from China, every few months I’d smash the back and two minutes later, it’d have another back glass
