Thanks for reminding me why we all quit riding Timberline over 10 years ago. Your GoPro doesn't do justice to the depth of those rock ledges in the slide areas. We always camped at Italian Creek and rode the whole timberline into Tin cup, eat at Frenchie's and back (after dark) to Italian Creek, or Spring Creek sometimes. Since it was always well over 110 miles we would stash gas cans in the trees where Timberline crosses Cottonwood pass when we came in, and pick up the empties on the way home.
Love that area but as the body ages I preferer the trails like Bear Creek, Roaring Judy and over in the Cement Creek area. Still camp in Italian Creek area and have access to the above mentioned trails.
That video brings back fond memories of well over 4 decades of sweet riding... Huge kudos for the ride, but can't say I'd do the whole thing by myself. Ride safe and have fun.

Thanks for sharing your video. Just a little tip for riding most of the trails in Taylor park.
    1. Standing up is much smoother over rough terrain.
    2. Shift to 2nd gear as soon as possible to stay on top of the rocks & roots makes it so much smoother & fun.
Maybe I'll see you on the trail one day.
After riding the entire trail both ways in past few years. My buddies & I prefer to start at Garden Basin near Tincup. It seems to flow a little better. We rode it all this year in around 3.5 hours plus 2 hours of short breaks to enjoy the views & eat lunch.

The rocks remind me of some of our AZ trails. You made me laugh when you were like “I had enough of this shit” (referencing the rocks). When I was watching, I was projecting myself on the trail and would have been thinking the same thing brother. 👍 43 miles on the day and three to the bailout, me too.

I just started riding single tracks after not doing so for 30 years. At least I have a low geared TW200 to do it with. My old trail bike was a Yamaha 175 enduro. Low enough geared to get through the tight stuff. Then I progressed to a 1986 XT 600, and it did just fine, but I was a lot younger and stronger back then. It is all that I can do to lift up my little 200 now days. LOL I use to like tough trails, use to are the key words here. I am getting a little better, but at 76, I do not know how much better that I can afford to get. I enjoy watching your video. Thanks for making it.

What I love about challenging trails:
    * Gets you to locations that very few people ever get to experience
    * The more difficult, the less people that can do it
    * It takes a lot of focus to keep your bike, gear, and body in tact
    * Nothing worthwhile and lasting (such as memories made on these rides) comes easy

Nice video. Taking a bike out this year for a ride or 2 in between sxs rides. I’ve done the timberline trail 414 from mirror lake restroom to Sanford creek back in 06 on a 4x4 quad, pretty cool trail and sketchy on 4 wheels.

once my age had a 6 in front of it I figured there was no shame in it. I am putting together ride maps for summer/fall in CB area. Rode there a lot 20-30 years ago but nothing recently so your videos are helpful to get a sense for which trails to hit or avoid. Looks like the Star is even rockier than the timberline? We ride a lot of tight root/rocky stuff but when it gets to be nothing but a 7-10 mile rockpile tend to look for something else.

Two questions; 1) do you think a guy would have an advantage, bye adding a1/2 teeth to the rear for that terrain? 2) to ride what you road, which would be best. Ride the direction you went or the opposite. Go up the bail out first?

      @hannonenduro  Před 3 měsíci

Yea, I get that sometimes. All of these trails are on COTrex, which is ran by the State of CO. They put them out there so people can find and enjoy them, because it’s public lands.
So, blame the state for ruining your neighborhood.
