It's because michael said Brian shouldnt have saved justin's life, which was crossing a line and Brian loved justin even if he doesn't admit it. Micheal was being disrespectful about the love of his life.
Micheal screwed up their relationship because he was jealous. He just expected Brian to come dashing into his arms because Brian loved him as a friend. He got married and was still stubborn. He thought since he got the first I love you Brian loved him more than Justin.He expected the world to revolve around him.

The thing I love about this show is how much depth the characters have. Each one has an arch where you hate them and others where you can’t help but feel for them.

Hate Michael too. One of my favorite moments where his true character was revealed is when he attempted to take the custody of JR and separate an infant who is still breastfed from her loving and caring mom only because he didnt want JR to be raised by a single mother, while he himself was raised that way. He didnt even realize how him saying that hurt Debbie and was even thinking HE has the right to be pissed on Debbie when she supported Mel. He is a selfish little prick.
I found his behavior disgusting on many occassions actually, but this pissed me off as Im too raised by a single mother. Michael was the worst character in QaF. I loved pretty much every other character there.

What I took from the final scene was that everyone else had grown up and moved on but Michael wanted and needed to keep Brian up there dancing at Babylon being the Stud, because if no one got Brian then it was okay for Michael to be the only one he needed. Michael was still that 14 year old boy waiting for Brian to finish that hand job. But in my mind Justin did what he had to do in New York with Brian and Gus visiting him as much as possible. After a year or two they ended up living at Britin and lived happy ever after. And Michael was still whining.

I think the filter between Michael's brain and his mouth - the one that's supposed to keep you from saying stupid stuff like "You should have left him there to die!" - seemed to malfunction quite a bit.
I hated that Michael got sympathy from Brian for admitting he knew about Brian's cancer, yet Justin got yelled at and kicked out. That was so wrong to me.
Angela Burton I think that was just bad writing. What person would say that? I know Mikey dislikes Justin but would really wish death on him.

I love how Brian puts Michael in his place in the end scene. He showed him that he may be his best friend but even he doesn't have the right to speak for him to Justin or mouth off about Justin to him
I really did not like Michael throughout most of the show because he was just so whiny all the time. His voice made me irritated and his face especially made me irritated. I just continued to think go away please. But his character as a friend was genuine and caring.
I personally wanted to pull him out of the screen.

I mean everyone is allowed to their own opinion but if you look at the context of the show its easy to understand his actions imo. Basically up until Brian Punches him, Michael didn't realize how in love Brian was with Justin. It literally and figuartivly hits him when Brian punches him after he talks badly about Justin even after Justin left Brian, that's how much Brian is in love with Justin, he would fight his own friend to defend him. Then when you look at the cancer stuff, Michael is actually the one to help Brian and Justin. Brian was pushing Justin away without without Michel spilling the beans that Justin knew. And Justin was letting Brian push him away. He basically told them both to cut the crap and made Justin realize this is only Brian pushing him away because he's scared and told Brian he can't treat his partner this way. I say after s3 Micheal actually is pretty supportive. But prior to that just didn't get it cause Brian's not one to show he cares too often so it probably appeared one was but privately he wasn't seeing B + J actual relationship and love for one another. That's my perspective at least. I think he just wants the best for the people he loves and maybe does the wrong thing at times because of that.

Of course, you should never say something like that but for me he'd made a mistake by saying it and was rightfully punched in the face BUT we all sometimes say things we don't really mean. I think he was just so upset by the fact that Justin was there with Ethan and he didn't want Brian to get hurt even worse.
@Dizzle I disagree. He promised Justin not to tell anything, but when he was first confronted with Brian and then realized that his friend could die from it, he was overwhelmed by his own emotions. He didn't mean to do it on purpose. He just couldn't hold back and that's what makes his character very human, actually.

I'm on season 3 now on Showtime Anytime and Michael is driving me nuts! During season 1 & part of 2 I wanted to hug him...he was so cute. Now I want someone to throttle him! Emmet is an absolute angel....Brian is an ass....god poor Ted! Love this show BTW.

The fact that Michael gets more hate than Brian is annoying. Yea it was irritating that he couldn’t leave Brian alone but Brian was a manipulator who couldn’t admit his love to anyone. He wanted everyone to love him but was scared to love anyone else. Who knew people had a hard time leaving him alone and he could do so with ease, but deep down he wouldn’t want people to leave him alone.
Brian is always true to himself and consistently has done extraordinary things to help his friends throughout the series. He's not deceitful or manipulative or sanctimonious.
Michael is very hurtful and jealous when it comes to his friendship with brian and it's obvious that he dislikes justin for being Brian's first pick over him and another thing I think that brian can speak up for himself but he always seems to stick his nose in where it doesn't belong. I understand that he's Brian's best friend and maybe wants the best for him but there are times even with best friends that you have to let them make decisions on their own even if you don't agree with them.
and to stay out of their personal lives.

I also hate Mikey. When Brian is almost facing reality, coming out of his "perfect little world", Mikey would say, "You are Brian Kinney. You will be young and handsome forever."
This made Brian believe it was really going to happen, so he didn't grow and mature. Thus, Mikey made Brian live in an eternal adolescence. But with time, his friends kept going and Brian was still stuck in time and consequently lonely. Brian's only salvation was Justin, his one true love.

I ve always hated Michael: he is immature, selfish, spoiled, cowardly, manipulative. He's just a capricious little boy who stamps his toes when he doesn't get what he wants. Michael has always tried to sabotage Brian's relationship with Justin because he has never resigned himself to the fact that Brian doesn't see him as a potential boyfriend, but just as a friend. Michael with his selfishness wants Brian not to have a steady relationship because he continues to hope that in the future Brian will fall in love with him. Whenever Michael dates a guy, he treats him like a spare tire because Brian is always in the first place in his heart. But his is only obsession, it is not love. Michael is frustrated and he is struck in his pride because he sees that Brian goes with all the best-looking guys in Pittsburgh except him, and therefore has an inferiority complex that makes him passive-aggressive.Another thing that makes it clear that Michael's heart is bad: during his relationship with Ben, some teenagers prostitute themselves under their windows, and Michael uses very harsh words towards them. In fact, Ben tells him: "Michael, try to have some human compassion and pity!" Even when Michael and Ben find Hunter sleeping on the floor in front of their door, Ben is moved and gives money, food and hospitality, instead Michael plays the asshole as always and threatens to call the police. Knowing how justin aggression affected brian emotionally and because michael was there at the hospital with him when that happened, so he clearly saw with his fucking eyes how devastated brian was, his tears, and knowing how much important justin is for brian...still he says something so awful.

It's sad because a lot of people don't seem to realize everyone in the group pin Michael against Justin and that's why they have a rivalry until Brian refuses to grow the fuck up. And they realize that it is Brian who isn't maturing at all and that like katie red said, wants to keep his youth.
I've seen this series at least 6 times from start to finish. Michael is such a self righteous hypocrite. He's constantly judging and ingrateful to others who do for him. I could go on and on about this. He's the one character who consistently does horrible things that he feels justified in and then has no leeway for anyone else.

In The First Scene it kind of reminded me of "Great Expectation" Pip became "Gentleman" ran with the beautiful People and treated poor Joe Gargery his Former Brother In Law like crap when he came for a visit. Remember when Joe ran bout Justin getting his comeuppance and Brian B Slapped him, he so deserved that. If I were Brian I would have said to them, "Ask Michael What HE Said!" If Debbie heard the truth she would have wailed on Michael like nobody's business. and Ben could have confronted him about his unresolved "feelings" for Brain. Better yet, Brian could have said "Why don't you worry about your "Infected" husband, you're going to go down that same path that Debbie went through with Uncle Vic.

Sorry, but the best thing that ever happened to Brian is Justin. I agree that Brian interferes very much in the relationships of Michael. But it would be Michael's job to stop it and get rid of Brian if the relationships would be so important to him. Basically, it is also perfectly clear that if Michael would have to choose between Brian and his relationships, then he would always choose Brian. And there is the difference, because Brian would always choose his relationship with Justin.
Jackson, Brian did what Debbie told him to do, protect Michael. And he did, when David was turning Michael into a house-wife Brian helped him get away, but when he met Ben Brian even helped plan his wedding, so no Brian didn't mess up his relationships, he protected his friend. As a mother of two and finding out my younger son actually watched this crap where a 30 year man who wants to stay in his youth and basically shacks up with a teen, who is spoiled beyond belief by everyone excluding Michael and Ted, to keep said youth is astounding. Justin who received a 1500 on his SAT's was reduced to a glorified rent boy. It's a shame there are so many people out there who think Brian/Justin are a true love story. It's not reality. It's a fantasy; maybe that's why it's hot.

It was a love story. You clearly didn’t see how much Brian loved and cared for Justin. Or much Justin wanted affection from Brian because he wanted him. Thats the whole point of the story. A guy who didn’t believe in Love til he met someone who after everything(his imperfections) still wants and accepts him. Being a mother doesn’t mean shit. Anyone could’ve figured out what the love story was in the show.

How does his SAT score affect anything?? He wanted to pursue arts not business (which his SAT score would have been required for). Justin was a brat initially but he was very smart and for a child who left his home because of his father, he handled himself well because of the guidance of Brian. Micheal or Ted didn’t do anything for Justin or help him out in anyway. And your being a mum doesn’t mean your opinion is sound.

I watched the show thoroughly and Justin should have confronted Brian, but what did he do, he acted like a spoiled brat by running to Michael and cruelly informing the man that his best friend had cancer and then had the nerve to demand if he knew anything about it.
Cruelly informing??? 🧐🤨🤨. Why would he confront Brian about having cancer when Brian had not opened up to him about it?
He simply wanted to help Brian, and told Michael that Brian had cancer because he trusted him. Maybe he shouldn't have. Anyway, I think Michael changed a lot for the better in the last seasons.

Like I hate Michael in the 1st season but I love his and Ben's relationship more to do with ben than him I'm not a huge Michael fan
