I’m loving this so much and I’m only at the 10:00 minute mark! I really hope the light swap is working well for you. I just had two BTAs disappear in my frag tank. I blame my lighting. ONF Flat One+. Inappropriate Reefer did a review. Pretty sure he said it was only good for softies and some east LPS.
Oh interesting, isn't it frustrating when nems fail? I'm glad you have found this helpful! I'm super hopeful that the entire series, when it's done, will make beginners feel confident about starting a saltwater tank! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Another great video, Matthew. Quick question. The WYSIWYG thing for corals. What's up with that? Does that just mean that you get the coral that's in the actual photo? Thanks.
Yep, that’s exactly what it is! Sometimes online sellers will have a category like “acans” but you don’t know exactly what you’ll get. The WYSIWYG is a picture of the EXACT coral you’re buying
i use a pc battery backup plug block incase of powerout it will run for 6 hours with lights but i have set up so the main lights go out and a little usb one comes on and the system will run for around 24 nours i also am building a new setup by making an insulated/soundproofed enclosed cabinet for a nano reef to avoid temprature flux, noise and light and to make more efficent
I was so happy when i come across this beginner series....but i think you may have gotten carried away with all this info, Dosing pump....? what does a dosing pump do, is this still for the Beginner ? i'm lost...
I have, and I haven't. Been so busy with other things, that right now I'm leaning more towards buying something pre-made, just for ease of use. But I haven't decided yet.
Hi Alex, you know I made this so long ago that I don't even remember which sump it was. The only two companies I have bought independent acrylic stumps from are trigger systems, and acrylic habitats
In the summer, yeah. It is the warmest we can go without feeling uncomfortable! When it's 110 outside, 78 feels great! In the winter, we keep the house at 69!
Phosguard and matrix is absolutely essential after about a month. This has kept phosphates, nitrates, silicates and everything down completely, as well as having super clear water and happy fish - both in freshwater and saltwater. Beginning stages, not necessary. When you have fish, even just one, always good to use them in your filter to do the extra work. Period.
Sump wayyyyy too difficult for beginners. Better going with an under 20 gallon then upgrading because a problem is totally fine whereas if you get velvet in a 40 gallon+, you’ll quit the hobby. Sumps are way too difficult.
Yes! This is the type of video a newbie, like myself, actually learns from.
Sweet, glad it was helpful!
This is much appreciated. Sometimes the amount of gear thrown at beginners is overwhelming
You inspire me so much with my 13 gallon Nano tank!
Yay, that's awesome!!
Nice video explaining why you need or don’t need certain items. 👍
Yes! Thank you!
Hey you just talked about me🤙
Yeah I did!! :-)

@@Max-kd2gh Makes sense. Thank you very much, Max.
Yep, that's exactly right!!

Have you put any more thought into the custom 120 build?
I have, and I haven't. Been so busy with other things, that right now I'm leaning more towards buying something pre-made, just for ease of use. But I haven't decided yet.
Protein skimmer absolutely necessary!!!!!!!!
That filter sock is the size that is a sleeping bag.
Quite true!
Bro for phosphate and nitrate just use carbon dosing I just put tiny amount of sugar day no to lil amount of both no problems no rector
Good idea, but I've decided to go with biopellets this time around!
Fans are fantastic!
Can i run a 15 inch cube saltwater aquarium with HOB filter??
Great video. But I thought air stones is not good for saltwater tanks !
We only use them for emergencies in case of a power outage.
Hello sr those sump container under the tank what’s the name and where can buy one?
Hi Alex, you know I made this so long ago that I don't even remember which sump it was. The only two companies I have bought independent acrylic stumps from are trigger systems, and acrylic habitats
Do u think the coral pro salt that I see u using in the video would be right 😁 please do reply, thank you
Absolutely. It is a great salt that I've used
@@MyFirstFishTank wow OK thanks for the reply, would it be fine to mix the salt with tap water
Hi, please please reply to my comment, I want to ask u which salt do u think is good for a salt water aquarium
Really any commercially made aquarium salt will work just fine.
Filters and protein skimmers are totally fine instead of socks.
i'm a bit of an Over Reactor, which is never needed..
Me too!
Red Sea or coral salt is amazing.
Keep your house at 78!!!!! Jesus

Freshwater is totally fine instead of distilled.

Refugiumd absolutely NOT needed for beginners and way too complicated.
