I had a bad attack yesterday cleaning rabbit yard but I worked through it and made sure I had a better mask and finished the job.
I am doing this for me as I found I have worth now, I can do something I never thought I could ever do with my health but I'm doing this for my kids too, so I can leave them with a home where they have food around them and the skills I've learnt.

I thought about opening a bookkeeping business for 5 yrs, but didn’t know how to get enough clients to quit my 9-5 job. Came up will business name after 5 years of “thinking about it”. 2 weeks later had the opportunity to jump, with clients. My business is now 7 year old! Your channels new direction gives me a lot of hope for my future, thank you for always being open and honest. You have reached and helped more humans than you know Morgan. • @britticus968
    @britticus968 Před 2 lety +6

I've struggled with similar issues, between my Crohn's disease, mental illness, and self-destructive tendencies, I expected I wouldnt make it to 25... Well I turned 25 this year and now I kinda have to get my shit together.
There is a quote from the podcast "I'm Quitting Alcohol" that I think about a lot. It goes something like "Self-destructive people don't want to die, they expect not to live. And the worse thing that can happen to a self-destructive person is that they live, because not only do they not die, they have to learn how to live and they have put no effort into preparing for the future."
Earlier this year I got relief from my severe depression for the first time in 8 years. Suddenly I could look towards the future and craft it in a way I wanted it to be rather than being carried by momentum. It's been crazy and I'm still working on being ok with doing the things my depression told me I couldn't do.

Morgan you are a wise man. I grew up in a situation like that. I was by my 7th grade teacher who saw a kid who had a million stories to tell and he didn't care that I had ADHD (before they had a name for it) He didn't care that I was dyslexic and had trouble spelling. He taught me how to write a screenplay and the stories started to flow. He was a hippie draft dodger and only taught for one year. I am so blessed because he saved my life. I made videos in high school and went to film school and found a place in the film and television industry all because of this one man. I've had a good career, mostly making educational films and regional documentaries. I even wrote for a few cartoons like Care Bears. While I had a dozen feature scripts optioned none were never made. In some ways my negative self talk took over after that. It was because I wasn't good enough. At 64 writing drama and action spec scripts is my focus. My goal is to see one of them made. I keep the words of Becket close to me. He said fail better. Morgan you continue to inspire me. I wouldn't worry too much about the age thing. Over the years I've seen people change their life and career path 180 degrees. I even know someone who became a doctor at 55 and someone else who should become a lawyer by 60. Thank you for this video.

Totally relate. I never got through high school. I was home schooled, but I was sick a lot and my Mom was both my Mom, teacher, nurse, etc. Then my brother had health complications, so it just got overwhelming, so I dropped out but picked up the books online and learned the rest of everything on my own time. The "no diploma" thing has always been held over my head, but I've had amazing jobs that I've ran circles around people with degrees, so I think people that equate degrees to knowledge and being able to do your job properly (doctors and things of that nature aside, of course) are a little short sighted. Keep going! If you know you're stuff, never let anyone else tell you otherwise. And glad you enjoy the new vibe!

As a person with a bachelor's degree in science I can assure you it's a fucking scam haha especially in the US. I am grateful for it for a few reasons and proud I accomplished it don't get me wrong but a degree means very little. Here's why:
      1) You still have to climb the same ladder as everybody else you just get a slightly higher chance of advancing to the next stage but someone without a degree is still just as capable.
      2) which means you don't make alot of money right off the bat *shocker* and people who aren't college educated will and can be making more than you
      3) not only that you leave with debt! Yay!
      4) most companies will still expect you to have experience and will value it over education
      5) you forget everything you learn because they make u cram it all in
      6) You leave with irreversible damage caused by high levels of stress
      7) There's a good chance you no longer even want to pursue what u got a degree in after doing it and being miserable so then you're back to square one.
Every type of degree and field is different of course but more and more people are running into this. So honestly educate yourself never quit learning that is more valuable and stay determined. You don't need a degree to be successful or good enough!

A second kid, a move, and a whole host of other things have paused my alone time but I’m hopeful that it will start back again! Finding time alone to do things I love and to try new things helps me separate myself from the roles that consume me: mom, wife, and nurse. It’s hard and embarrassing still to express myself creatively but it’s something I want to do!

I am going to be 40 in November, I have 2 daughters that are 17 and 21. Since my kids have their own lives and grown-up, I have a Fear of not knowing what I want to do with my life right now. I understand the options are endless, it's just the anxiety of starting over I guess!

I actually haven’t been to the gym traditionally in months, but I took up Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and it gets you in shape and gets your cardio up so quick. Pair that with lifting 50+ lbs all day in a warehouse job and it kinda fills the void of not hitting the weights. haha. Thanks, bro! You too!

When you or stepi talk about how neither of you were expecting to live this long.. How you weren't planning for your future or ever got a head start, I relate soooo fucking much. I don't have cystic fibrosis, but I've had a very tramatic past and I have severe ptsd, depression, trichotillomania, and chronic stress. That feeling of having to pull your life together once you figure out you might not die tomorrow. Once you realize you have a future and need to change your habits to comprehend your new version of reality.. its really fucking hard. So thank you both for expressing your feelings online. I feel like I cant relate to anyone but then there's those lil moments that make me feel less alone

I've always wanted to write a novel, but something always throws me off track before I get to the end. I got 50k words into my first novel, and life got in the way. Then, I forgot where I was going with it and gave up. Now, I'm trying a different approach to keep me on track. Hopefully in a few months, I will finally have a full first draft of a book.
