The perfect in town vehicle: Fewer miles traveled, lower electron usage due to lower speeds, better regen, no transmission fluid changes or oil changes, no gas (in cities gas is always more expensive than burbs or rural), easy parking, and U turns are a breeze. I have a garage and put in a 240v level 2 charger myself for less than $200 and set up charging for off-peak hours. I had a '19 Honda Accord (Bolt is $8 more a month to insure) and even with its efficiency and reliability I was spending 75% more each month on upkeep and usage.
Shop around on insurance... I usually switch every couple premium cycles... In conjunction with e-bikes I put less mileage on the Bolt... It'd be really cool if Chevy offers some battery swap options in the future for a longer range battery pack!?
I purchased my 2023 Bolt EV 2T in June of 2023, so I have had it for a year. Love it. Just got back from an over one-thousand-mile round trip from my home, just west of Philadelphia, to Canada. I purchased the aluminum door sill inserts. I had my mechanic install the originals, but he screwed up the job, and i had to do it myself. Where did you obtain the inserts which you have installed on both the front and rear door sills? I also note that you are paying a lot to charge. Don't you have a level 2 charger installed in your garage? So convenient. Finally, check out AAA for car insurance. I pay $790 a year, for a half million dollars in liability coverage, with an all-around deductible of a thousand dollars.
Here I have to get full coverage it's like 1200 a year now with 1k deductible... They're not sills really just a combo of stickers I scooped up off eBay... Nope unable to install charger so I have to head over to the charging stations.
1k miles! I don't have patience like that to plan out all the stops for a recharge... Everything is getting more expensive here so rates are higher & it appears I should be spending about the same amount as last year... Using the $500 GM gift card so it's been free so far... All that said I have low mileage on my EV as I use my ebikes in conjunction with the Bolt to handle my commutes & errands. I think EVs are the right fit for the right person, cheers!
Heads up. On the 100% charge, this car (and most ev's) won't do regen while it's over a certain percentage of the battery. That's why one pedal driving won't work after a full charge.
Thanks, all info is appreciated! 👌
Thanks for confirming what I just found out on my "new" 2017. I've grown to love this feature!
“ABSOLUTELY MAGNIFICENT REVIEW

I've had my Bolt EV for a little over a year, commuting 190 miles a day. Currently has 30k miles now.
Couldn't get my wished for order filled, but I needed the car, so I took the one that had been abandoned by the one who had ordered it.
I love it, and I agree with the cons listed.
Right on ...one man's loss is another man's gain! Enjoy the 7.5k tax return... When I get back home from Colombia, uncle Sam should have my tax return check waiting for me...
Mostly agree with review, only get rear USB ports with Bose package, strangely.
I got an organizer tray for the Deep console off Amazon about $15.
I've been to Holland Michigan and Vermont Michigan both good day-cation spots... I think it's only been about 45yr., how much could it have changed.
Annoying lack of usb ports.
I want to redo the foam rubber under trunk organizer with more room for the charger, tools and a tire patch kit
Somehow the hatch is heavy to open & hard to close, needs to be slammed.
If it's a 2lt it should be about the same as mine... Organizer insert was off eBay, i think it was $10+? ...I was planning to take a roadtrip to Milwaukee then boat it over to Sheboygan MI, we'll see?
@@rp9674 not sure what options are out there other than bed liner spray, not real familiar with other available options?
The screen is virtually just a clock after you cancel everything
I am going to rewire the rear USB for always powered
Careful rewiring things... My old chevy cavalier burned down b/c of a faulty wire...
Yup not a fan of those pay services to make your EV function fully, not cool - every feature should be unlocked! Nickel & dime tactics!
