A great idea for a list. Mine would be a bunch of older ones: 1) Pandemic. (Especially the legacy) 2) Ticket to Ride ( My favorites are Pennsylvania and Africa) 3) Dominion. 4). Arkham Horror Universe ( really like Eldritch Horror and the LCG). 5). Concordia (Just picked up Roma/Sicily). I want to try the Undaunted System.
Some great games there, thanks!
Wow - thank you so much for the kind words!
Thank you, sir. Great games!
Great list! BTW, Axis & Allies was not originally from Milton Bradley (even though that is the most well known edition). Nova Game Designs did the original edition in 1981, and they sold it off to Jedko (whose edition was also 1981). Then Milton Bradley reissued Axis & Allies in 1984.
Thanks!
Wow, I am surprised that the Commands & Colors series did not make at least the Honorable Mentions section! It was the first series I thought of when I realized what the video was about, lol.
Yeah, CC should have been an HM. Thanks.
Devil Pig Games' "Heroes of Normandie" and all its add-ons and spin offs since. Much better than Undaunted for WW2, IMHO...
Also, it covers the Cthulu mythos in "Shadows over Normandie" and even Warhammer 40K (in "Black Reach"). Simply the best and perhaps the most extensive.
Disagree. Undaunted is far superior IMHO. Thanks.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer that's why both exist, then. One for people wired like you and another for people wired like me. 😁
Also, when Undaunted has as many expansions as HoN, has a PC version (on Steam) AND covers topics as diverse as Cthulu and 40K, I'll be willing to revisit. 🤔
Thanks.
Baby livers are an important component for the hangover immunity spell.
That's what I said in my testimony to Congress.
So many great games on this list. I would have to add the following: Arkham Horror series from Fantasy Flight Games. Even though I like Cthulhu Death May Die from CMON better. And Too Many Bones from Chip Theory Games. Castle Panic/Dead Panic would have to be on the Honorable Mention list.
Thanks. I need to play more CDMD to make that determination. Thanks.
Congratulations on your engagement!
Squad Leader (Avalon Hill) was an amazing series that I'm sure you'd love. But it's long out of print.
I’ve heard good things about SL, but never played it. Thanks.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer SL is difficult but fun. Advanced Squad Leader is too crunchy for my tastes- binders of rules and minutia that appeal to rules lawyers.
Should've expected a few deck builders, but like you the more I play, the more I like them. Still think you'd like the Unmatched series, has quickly become one of my favorites.
I've played Cobble & Fog. I liked it, but don't know that I love it. Thanks.
Cool list. Surprised the PANDEMIC series didn’t make your list. Love the legacy run
I like Pandemic, but never really fell in love with it. The best one, IMHO, is Star Wars Clone Wars.
Sorry about Dixie! It's always been hard on me to lose one of our dogs. I've thought about how wonderful it would be if they lived human lifespans, and you could grow up and live out your life with them!
That would be great. Dixie is my brother's dog, and she was great. Thanks.
My favourite series is the pax series from the eklunds , love em.
Haven’t played ‘em. Played High Frontier once. Didn’t go well.
GMT's COIN series .. by far.
I've only played one so far. Looking forward to trying more. Thanks.
Great list. Love DC Deck Builder and only have Predator Legendary but intending on getting more.
Off the top of my head.. I would have Arkham collection, Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, West Kingdom trilogy and Robinson Cruseo/First Martians (I would be in a very small group with that one).
Thanks! Great games!
You're missing Patronize in the Tempest series. Well, not really, it's a small card game like Love Letter. Nothing like Courtier and Dominare. Fun fact: I collected the whole Tempest series because of your reviews. Nothing to regret here!!
Thanks. You're right. I've actually got a copy of Patronize, but I have never got it to the table. Thanks.
I know I've said this before But I really think you'd like the Imperium series. Ancient deckbuilding but each civ is different. Horizons just came out. There are like 35 (approx, i can't remember how many are in horizons) and they all play different. I think its right up your alley.
Stay tuned.
Cody: I can't choose between Marvel Zombies and Cthulhu: Death May Die. I just played the latter and it was great. Still not played a Zombicide game. If I *had* to pick between the two, which do you think? Many thanks for the great list!
I've only started playing Cthulhu: Death May Die, and I really enjoy it. But my heart belongs to Zombicide.
for me 1) Legendary 2) Undaunted 3) Pandemic 4) Fantasay realms/marvel remix/ star trek missions
Some good choices there. Thanks.
I saw that post just now on The Board Wargamer
Thanks for stopping by.
At 3:04 😂😂 Great humor lol
Thanks!
1. COIN 2.Command & Colors 3. Levy n Campaign
Only played one COIN game - looking forward to playing more. CC is great - it should have been a runner up here. Haven't played LnC. Thanks.
I've always been a fan of the Legendary series like you! Also really dig the Pandemic series with all its flavors.
I like Pandemic, but never fell in love with it. Legendary, on the other hand, is my bag. Thanks.
I have a soft spot for it I guess, it was the first "modern board game" that I played that got me into the hobby@@TheDiscriminatingGamer. I remember I got my first expansion for Legendary because of you :)
@@NoeAnton Happy to help.
Combat commander might make it to some lists. I would like to play more of it. War of the Ring too…if count Hobbit and Five Armies.
@@wartable I've only played CCEurope, so I couldn't comment on it as a series. Played Five Armies, but only briefly tried a game of WotR. Thanks.
Congratulations!!
Thanks.
If you have tried Nemesis solo, what are your thoughts Cody?
It’s fine. I’ve played it solo a few times. It can be a fun challenge, but the meat of the game is the multiplayer and the possibility of betrayal.
You just gonna casually drop 'fiancé' in there like that???
Congrats man. 😊
Thanks!
Zombicide is my favorite as well. I really wanted to avoid marvel and dc versions. But everyone is saying they’re really good. What did you think about white death?
Haven’t played WD, but Marvel is Amazing. Hope you get a chance to play it.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer are you looking to play WD? Or does it not interest you? I mean, i dont think they shoulda marketed it as a continuation of the BP/GH setting. They shoulda marketed it as something else.
What would you recommend for someone’s first Zombicide game?
Good question. I guess it comes down to theme. Currently, my favorites are Marvel Zombies and Zombicide: Undead or Alive. Both fantastic. But again, there are a ton of different themes from Black Plague in Medieval times to Invader in Outer Space to Night of the Living Dead, based on the movie. They are all pretty easy to learn and to teach.
Again a lot I have not played. I do lije DC Deckbuilder, Legendary I have Marvel, Alien, Predator & James Bond. (I have all the movies, Hated for the first time the last movie. which is an expansion comming out) Of the games not mentioned Command & Colors Anceints, Napoleonic, Battle Cry, Memoir 44 and most of the exoansions. Another two Warfighter. I have most of the Modern seriesI hear the WW2 is very good. Rise of the Luftwaffe and Eighth Air Force. Congrates by the way. I hope your marraige is better than mine was. Odd are real good it will be. You ever get into a fight you can settle it with a game of unduanted. A word of advice Honesty, Respect, Loyalty, Sense of Humor and good comunication.
Thanks!
How about a top ten of puns and opening jokes? 😁
NEVER!
I really wanted to like Legendary but I felt like the strategic element just wasn’t there. Thematic, heck yes. But the HQ is just too random and it’s impossible to intentionally build synergies in my experience. Guess I just don’t like deck builders (other than Mage Knight snd Dune Imperium which use deckbuilding lightly). Oh I do like Race for the Galaxy…
To each their own. The reason I like Legendary is because of the cool combos you can build every game. Thanks.
@@TheDiscriminatingGamer do you feel like you have enough control to build those combos on purpose? Wondering if I just stunk at the game
@@Copterman There is a lot of randomness in any deck builder - it’s all about card draws. I don’t really feel that there is any more or less luck in Legendary, generally speaking, than in any other deck builder.
Dune Imperium New Zealand 😂
Fantastic!
you should do your top10 top ten posts
Ha!
Top ten games Cody said: “don’t buy it please”…. 😅
Ha!
Your list is. . . Fine, it would have been better if you added Arkham Horrors
There are a lot of games in the Arkham Files that I like such as Mansions of Madness 2nd Ed., Eldritch Horror, and Unfathomable. Arkham Horror itself I was never wild about. Thanks.
No Commands and Colors? Not even honorable mention?
Mistake on my part.
Girlfriend? Is this new? 😀
Nope.
