  • Tim Burton and Michael Keaton return to weirder and wintery Gotham City for a more personal take on Batman. Batman Returns, featuring Michelle Pfeiffer as the slinky and dangerous Catwoman and Danny DeVito as the misanthropic and twisted Penguin, allowed Burton to push the Dark Knight into an even darker and stranger world of heroes and villains!

What do you mean, "just flying to Chicago"? Why does it sound so dismissive when shooting on the real locations is well known for being more time consuming, dangerous (if we're talking action scenes), and unpredictable. Shooting a city with mate paintings and miniatures is nowhere near as complex as doing it for real. Sound stages were the green screen before the green screen. A real location will always be appreciated by real fans of cinema.

My aunt took me and my sister to see Batman Returns when I was 7 years old. I loved it. To me it didn't matter if it was dark or weird. It was Batman, Catwoman, and the Penguin in another Batman movie, and for me that's all I needed to know. I had a lot of the toys and remember the McDonald's promotion. What a fun time to be a kid.

Tim Burton was a GENIUS for this one! Sure, it had its campy moments, and some of the dialogue was a bit cheesy ... but the storyline, overall aesthetic and production design of this film was AMAZING! And even though the Penguin & Catwoman had different origin stories compared to the original comics, they did a fantastic job with practically creating them from scratch as far as image and persona goes! Danny DeVito, and ESPECIALLY Michelle Pfeiffer, were great in playing their roles!
