Jo and her son created a cozy box truck cabin, all on a shoestring budget. Remarkably, Jo sourced everything for her interior completely free through scavenging and resourcefulness. She bought her 1999 Chevy 3500 box truck for just $4,000 and lovingly converted it into a cozy tiny home. Her son played a crucial role in the build-out, and together, they've created a space that perfectly suits all of her needs. Jo's journey is a story of resiliance, newfound friendships, and the freedom of life on the open road.

The transformation of the box truck is great, and I love how she used repurposed items. She’s also lucky that her son is a handyman that can help make it look like a livable place, and she can have a “permanent address” with her son’s place.

I met Jo down on the Colorado River we camped at a spot called the hippie hole she is every bit as nice as she appears to be in video ! Glad to have her as a friend.

Ahh…she’s so cute. Obviously so pleased to be interviewed by the man who inspired her and her son to create this rig and this life for her. I was so tickled when she silently mouthed Bob’s words, “Hit that thumbs up button…” You know she’s watched a lot of Bob’s videos and been waiting for that moment for a long time! And she does have a great little home there! 👍🤓

At 3:05 she said that the picture was of her Dad and Uncle at Quartzsite in 1985 and that they'd been coming there all during the '70s so she grew up knowing about Quartzsite and what it was like. Her Dad would have been young then, so he was probably into rock hunting.

We met Jo out on Plamosa last winter along with a wonderful group of people. It was one of our favorite memories of Q & so glad we stumbled across the caravan. Jo did such a great job on her rig!

I just pot in a deck where the roll up door was. Window in the back wall now, but not when the deck is closed up. That way it still looks stealthy enough to stay in areas id otherwise be kicked out of. Usually work vans don't have windows in the back.

Wow I'm not even halfway through yet and it's just an amazing build! Bob was very concerned to make sure that the generator is completely outside in a outside compartment! Yes that's important having the controls inside is wonderful!
I know Bob pays attention to detail and the Genny outside is a deal breaker.

I like Jo's truck better than any Sprinter van I've seen. Sprinter people seem to be that they are unimaginative show offs (sorry). Jo's box truck is beautiful, crafty and personal. I've never seen a Sprinter Van build that had a fabric stash in it! I will be glad when I get my own shuttle bus, skoolie box truck. I am partial to shuttle buses but we shall see what the Lord provides.😊

Wait till you see the upgrades we just finished. I turned the rollup door into a tailgate deck, complete with AstroTurf, a pocket door and window. All hidden behind what still looks like a roll up door when it's up. We also put a boat hatch on the roof and another solar panel. New shower too.

Yeah, Bob was patient with my ramblings.
After being here 19 years and road tripping part time my landlord served my with a 90 day notice. He knows I’ve recently have been on a fixed income because medically I can bo long keep up my class A and my special certificate for driving a school bus. It’s all about the money! That’s to you and your Channel Bob I’m at piece with it! It’s just the process of getting there.
I was OTR and lived in my truck. Had a seizure and lost my lively hood and room and board. The motorhome was easy and used all my savings but the box van is my freedom!

I have that same sign that's behind her TV 💜 This is such an inspiration for me. While I can't currently afford a box truck, it's a dream I can work towards. I've also been considering a 6x12 enclosed trailer to build out. Thank you Bob for all the wonderful and inspiring stories you bring us.
When you can, check usual for box vans. It's funny about the sign,. Just being in the van and living my life, now, makes me happy. Don't have to put out effort any more.

Quick fix for that faucet... put a weight on it under the counter. They have weights at the hardware store made specifically fir that.
Love all the room! She's blessed to have a sone to work on the truck for her, and she seems happy about it. The shower concerns me, though... it looks like some sealing is needed around the edges and an she needs an exhaust fan. That hot water heater on the wall needs seperation from the shower, too, for safety.

It's much better than a Sprinter van, it's a truck, much more dependable and heavy duty.

Nice lady and a functional, cosy home. Bob, can you sometimes ask about the driving of their vehicles? For instance, is this the first time driving a box truck, how confident they are, etc.
