  • Take you for another spin on the ol faithful 650 this time we try a 0-100 test on the bitumen, have some fun with a group of hog riders up a steep hill and talk about bloke's mental health.

    Been through some rough patches a few years ago - and decided to pick up a dual sport last year (drz 400 and upgraded to a DR 650 this year) and its literally been the best thing for me mentally than any therapist I've been to. It took me out of a very dark place and don't know what I would do without my bike now. Agreed that there is still a big stigma surrounding men's mental health - thanks for using your platform to raise more awareness. Cheers mate, and ride safe brother!

      That's great to hear you've found something that can bring you relief and joy mate. Well done! Yes mental health issues are a dark secret most people have and hide away... the best thing is to be able to talk about it and not be scrutinised... ride safe mate and keep well 💪✌️

    Great video! I've switched from a Triumph Tiger 800 XC to a new DR650 and it's so light! It's so easy to throw through the corners. The Triumph is turbine smooth but I love the feel of the DR's engine, it's got some character (but still plenty smooth too). It's a real grunter and has plenty of go but just idles along on the open road. Although I had a blast on the Trumpet I'd never go back to a bigger, heavy ADV bike now, the "trail bike" feel and riding position suits me fine, and the Suzuki has a reputation of being bulletproof. I enjoy getting out and away from everything like you, it's a great way to unwind after the stress of the work week. Perfect way to spend a day or two and clear the head...

    The best thing to do for a refresh is jump on the bike and travel a few hours to a spot in nature where one can be alone if possible and set up camp for the night, then a few hours travel home the next day. My aim is to do that as often as I can for a total refresh.
    A ride is great, but an overnighter is better in my opinion. The ride needs to be at least an hour but preferably three or four.
    Try and incorporate a hobby or something enjoyable to aim for; so photography, read a book, have a fish, or just explore different areas. Make it simple to amplify your pleasure, so fishing can be a basic set-up of a collapsible rod with a few lures. Camp can be a simple tent and chair, and nothing beats watching a campfire to zone out.
    I hope that is an idea and help for someone, cheers, and stay well.

    My 2018 DR 650 scares the hell out of me off road. shinko 705s tires , stock suspension. We are all going to die, don't be scared to live!

    • @SteelJM1
      @SteelJM1 Před 2 lety

      Warm over that suspension and she's a different bike. Better springs and cartridge emulators in the forks and a revalved and resprung rear for the cheap route, or USD fork conversion (RMZ450 seems the be the favorite) and an aftermarket shock for the more expensive route.
